Thanks Patty on the update on the bags. On the 1 st will go by and check and see if our store has them. By the way I would never have looked by the make up emoticon

Nina, they are by the makeup in our store, on the bottom shelf. They are also flattened down, so it doesn't look like much room until you pick them up and sort of fix their size to be not flat.
The material on the outside is sort of silky, and inside is sort of between a shower curtain and an oil cloth I guess. It zips 3/4 around the top, which allows the top to really open up well, as the top folds back once unzipped.

Jan - I can't remember the name of the mushroom my DGS said he was going after.

Patty - Those bags are really pretty. I should check Dollar Tree out on payday and see if we have any of them.

Nina, I add salt to JoAnna's recipes, too. I wonder what kind of mushrooms your DGS is looking for? We mostly get boletus (porcinis), chanterelles and sometimes cauliflower and others. It's too early here but over in your desert area there may be other kinds. Many years ago we had church friends who taught us and the kids how to hunt them and my whole family loves the hobby and the mushrooms!

Patty, What a neat find those bags were!

Girls, I seem to get leg cramps if I don't have enough salt...so I too add salt to JoAnna's recipes.

Here is a picture of the bags I bought at Dollar Tree. They are perfect size for sock projects and hat projects.

I bought 3 of each of them, as I seem to accumulate projects as I go along...lol
They are 7 1/2 long by 4 1/2 wide by 4 1/2 high.
Work perfectly.

Well I did get the floors mopped in living room, dinning room, and kitchen. The living room and dinning room are kind of one room, just sectioned off.
Doing some laundry. Running the washing machine on two cycles, for the wash cloths and my undies. The first with soap the next without soap. Trying to get the soap out. My washing machine has a window and you can see suds in the rinse cycle and I have been having problems. I am very sensitive to soaps. Have to have a certain bath soap and buy laundry soap without perfumes etc. in them.

Had soup, crackers with butter and apricot Simply Fruit.

The plan for supper is cube steaks, mashed potatoes, and some vegetable. Maybe mixed.

Patty I got such a chuckle out of the picture you put on and the story you told about your DH at yard sale. Yes I will pack a lunch for our wood gathering trip. It is not too far from us.

Jan I do not know anything about mushroom hunting. My DGS was going to go out yesterday to get some. My DS and DDIL have taught him what to look for. She got some last week and she said she made beef stroganoff with them.

Karen Most of Joanna's recipes do not have salt in them. I add salt to all of the recipes. If you do not have a problem with salt you might try it.

Nina

Karen, Your GGK and GK are so blessed they have a grandma who can come help out when needed. I think we're mostly all ready for fall.

Patty, Another funny! I really appreciate those. Ugh to the 81 degrees and humid. Those zipper bags sure are handy. I think when computers make that scritching noise they are thinking. Wouldn't it be funny if we made those noises when we're thinking? That was funny about the yard sale and the people thinking your hubby was Norm.

I baked 2 loaves of white bread - my Aunt Hattie's recipe she taught me on when I was a newly wed.

BLT for lunch. I'll make Bruce a BLT for dinner because he told me he's going to BK for lunch while he's in Longview.

Our young neighbors across from us are working hard to rebuild their enclosed front porch. When they're done I'll show you a before and after. Apparently there was a lot of rot. Previous owner enclosed it with door and windows but must have been lots of problems because these kids don't waste money. Work and repair thing, work and save and repair more. My house doesn't have a view unless you climbed up on the roof, but theirs should have a nice view and they are smart to enlarge the windows on that porch so they can enjoy it.

I've got a call in to the furnace guy to see how much to service the furnace and replace the filter. Nowadays these young fellows just carry their cell phones and return the call when they have a break.

Hi Girls,

What beautiful autumn pictures girls, thank you. They are beautiful.
I too am awaiting fall and cooler less humid days.
Hubby is too.

Karen, it was Nina that first mentioned that book. I too am going to check it out later today.
Karen, I love hearing stories about your Rolland. He seems like he was a nice man.

Nina, sounds like a fun outing to get wood...are you going to pack a lunch and make it a picnic too?

Jan, another beautiful picture.

Hubby and I went to town today. 81 and humid but breezy.

We stopped at GW. I found 3 smaller bags with zippers to put knitting projects in to corral them. Then we went to SAL. army...nothing, though they do give away bibles, so I may donate a few bibles to them.

Stopped at Dollar Tree. I found some more zippered bags for sock projects...I also picked up some scissors, pens, and a couple of wall plaques for fall. One is outside on the front porch, the other one is inside the front door.

I almost finished a knitted hat, which was already started.

I started a second teals sock. I have 40 rounds to go before the toe decreases on the first one. Hopefully finish it up today.

My computer is making a scritching noise when it is on. Sounds like a cat chewing dry catfood...well, now that I wrote to you about it, it has stopped. yay But this is the third day.

We stopped at a few yard sales on the way home. I picked up a 4 knitting loom set, 1 long loom and one of the looms had a scarf almost finished, on it. I did not need them, as I have quite a few, but it was only $1. Couldn't pass it up.

I have a funny story, Here I go with a letter length message again.

We stopped at 1 yard sale. Hubby comes back with a coffee can full of galvanized nails for $2.
They weren't open until tomorrow. Why they put the sign up today is beyond me.

Anyway, he says he goes to the yard sale, and the lady says "well hi, how are you, haven't seen you in a long time. " Hubby is trying to figure out where he knows these people from...

Anyway, another man was there and the lady says to the man, "Frank, this is Norm"...hubby laughs, shakes the guys hand, and says, I am not Norm...lol My name is Mel. They all laugh, I guess hubby looks like someone that just moved into the neighborhood a few months ago. Anyway, they ask him where he is from, and hubby says out west, in Honor...lol all of 20 miles away...lol Anyway, needless to say, we had a lovely afternoon.

Computer is making noises again...oh well.

Have a good day Girls.

Thanks for posting such beautiful pictures. When Rolland & visited California years ago I was amazed at the size of the Redwood trees. I like fall, too.

I hope you enjoy your trip this weekend Nina.

Patty mentioned a book so I pulled One Pot Favorites off of the shelf. I did not find any recipes marked that I had tried so I plan to give this book a chance. I am going to the grocery store for what I need just after I give Drake his meds at school. I take him to his soccer game tonight. My DGD is working so hard as a single mom. Her x hubbies are not helping much with anything.

Nina, The picture of the aspen trees is beautiful. My sister had them in her back yard when she lived in Bend. We don't get the brilliant fall colors like they do in Portland area and even more over by Mt. Hood. What a fun family outing for you this Sunday. I hope the weather and everything cooperates so you can enjoy it.

Hi everyone
Jan - I love fall too.
I do have to go up another 1,000 feet to the aspen trees that turn yellow. DH usually takes me on a ride up higher to see them. In town we have various trees people plant that have the fall colors. I too am looking forward to fall.

Speaking of fall. This Sunday DS & fam and us will go up to an area where they have cut down juniper bushes and we will gather the wood that is left there for wood stove burning. It is kind of a outing for us all.

Todays plan is to be in the craft room once I get done with the daily stuff. DH plans on taking the garbage to the main dump in St. Johns and get feed for the chickens.
Do not know meal plans yet.

That is my plan for the day. We will see what happens.

Good morning girls,

How are things going over your way today?

One thing I'm thankful for is this team. Each of us are on our own paths and encouraging each other on.

I've started thinking about September and fall coming up. I love the weather, the cooking, and my family has already started hankering to go mushroom hunting.

Have a super Thursday.
