Today my son and I made the very hard decision to put our "old man" down. See my blog for today... That is my struggle at this time.

I'm glad he's starting to come around! emoticon Keep it up and you'll have a really great walking partner on your hands.

I run into the problem of I don't feel like have to go get up and walk because my mom takes the dogs for walks. I've been going a bit now, but its around the woods. In the end I find I really am not that fond of anything that isn't a treadmill.

I'm also worried about gong back to school. I just hate missing the time with my animals. I am missing so much by not being there with them... Next year I think I'm going to get an appartment that I can bring my dog down with me. I'm leaning towards not adding on more hours and just getting a part-time job to save up money. Perhaps I can get my horse down to school. I really can't stand leaving them for so long. It kills me.

I don't need to measure anymore, I know portion sizes like no tomorrow. I was a little chubby when I was 15-17 and I had a nutritionist and learned all about that stuff at an early age. its just that even though its in my head, when I get upset I will just eat and eat and eat! also if I have my fav food which is smoked cheddar pop corn, then I will eat the whole bag myself if I could. I almost did last week because of my dog issues. I am not allergic to foods it seems so I need to figure it all out. he has been to obedience training my dog. He is great with sit stay and lay its heel or listening or coming that is his issues. I already if you have not read my blog, what we will do to help each other. He is slowly starting to understand I am alpha as he puts his ears back half way and looks at me in a I mean no harm way. SO that is great! he never use to do that. I am starting to show my alpha female attitude to him and he thinks I do a much better job than him...wellll sometimes ha ha

Emotional eating is a huge problem here in the US. Do you keep a food journal? I used to keep one but haven't in a while. The biggest thing for me was portion size - I always underestimated how much I was actually eating and decided for one whole month I would measure out all my food. That made a huge difference.

As far as your dog - any dog can be trained for obedience. I used to train dogs and I didn't listen to the "well, it's his breed" poppycock. Some dogs just take longer to learn. You need to go back to the basics with sit and stay and work from there. My son has a German Shepherd that he has a hard time controlling, but she listens to me because she knows "gramma" won't put up with her shenanigans. I had her for the weekend and at the end of one hour I had her heeling on a loose choker chain when in the beginning she was doing the body toss and jumping like your dog does. Please, for your dogs sake, look into obedience training class with him. He will be a much happier dog and you will have a wonderful walking partner in the end.

Okay I was asked a few questions about what I struggle with and this is what I answered that I struggle with, its three things and its what I overcome everyday!

I struggle with stress, stress is a big thing to me because I am know to be an emotional eater so when stress hits other emotions follow and like this week it has been a big disaster and more! Junk food isn't a problem its more just my portion sizes on what I eat with the stress. Finding new ways to exercise, I normally walk/jog/run or I go swimming for a few hours. Nothing wrong with the swimming I just want to have something more fun to do than walking, I struggle with this because some days I can't get out and walk because its down pouring. Also my third struggle is finding a partner close by in Maine to do things with, I have a dog but hes not the walking type, he just pulls and throws his body around into turns and twists trying to break loose, so in the long run that then becomes stressful and not an active motivation. Its my dogs breed so it can't be fixed, its called the Shiba Tantrum! But I am working with my Shiba to maybe change it so we can become an active team in an agility course! so who knows if you put your mind to it you always over come it!!

I used to do yoga on a regular basis, but stopped for some reason. I need to get back to that. I had an "AM and PM Yoga" video that I loved doing. I should dig it out and start using it again.

I know what you about it being hard to get up and go do something. I suffered after my dog died for a very long time. She had been my world. I'm doing a lot better now, but all I found that helped me was time to get over the lose. Hopefully you will get the job you applied for and can help out on here!

Have you ever done yoga? I know I can't shut up about it since I found it, but its helped me tons and I feel better after doing it. You might check out the yoga journal. All I've done so far is the morning and evening and it is very relaxing and rewarding at the same time.

My struggles...

Depression
Depression
Depression

Because I am suffering from depression right now I am finding it hard to motivate myself to eat right and exercise. So much of my self-esteem came from my job and now with being unemployed my self-esteem has crashed. It does help that I recognize the real problem, but getting motivated is still real hard at this time.

I've heard the time part in a couple of replies. What you might try is adding the five minute stretching goal. Just restart building yourself back up. If you just take five minutes to go stretch when you wake up (perhaps spice it up with some more yoga type stretches) then you will start wanting to do that all the time and it will be habit. Then start worrying about maybe doing one exercise after your stretches.

List three struggles you may be having with your plan for getting healthy.

I will take some and turn them into goals.
