Gwyn:

I never thought about that - it is like we can do exercises just about anytime, doing anything - it is all about moving. I keep thinking that I have to join a gym and do focused exercising - but it can be as simple as doing leg lifts while washing dishes. I feel kind of silly - like 'why didn't I think of that?' - but I am glad for your remarks to jump start me!

Have a blessed holiday!

Delcan,
Yes the motivation has to come out of you. Nobody can do that for you even if we can be here and encourage you.
Noe, everybody has to cook and do dishes and such.
I find I can do butt, hip and leg exercises while standing at the stove or the sink. I even like it.
Happy Happy Christmas Holidays in the Spirit of the Season.

Thanks to you guys for your responses. I am beginning to see that my motivation has to come from me, and I need to stop making excuses for not exercising. I could even do leg lifts while watching TV - and I like the idea of breaking it up into 10 mins. increments - I think I'll do that because I can always find 10 mins. to do something like that.

I also like the thought of having to buy new clothes-I love to shop-so I think I'll work on that. I have pictures of myself when I used to be smaller, and I will remember what it was like to walk into the store and be able to pull off anything on the rack and it would fit! emoticon

Again - thanks, guys for your help!

I have found that I FIND the time to do my exercise, because I have made it a priority. I think we are all busy, and many times we feel that exercise has to be done all at once. Try breaking down your exercise sessions into 10 minute sessions... take a 10 minute walk at lunch... during a study break do some jumping jacks, while watching tv, do some strength training exercises during commercials.

These are things that I have found to work for me... hope they help.

Who said that you have to join a gym to exercise? I printed the strength training off of sparks page and do them in my home. You said that you commute for 1 1/2 hours do you drive or take some other transportation that some one else does the driving? If some one else is taking you, you can do some exercise while you are commuting to where ever you are going to. For motivation how about clothes that are ready to fall off of you because you are getting smaller and have to buy more smaller clothes.

If you tell God no because He won't explain the reason He wants you to do something, you are actually hindering His blessing. Hi - I have been reading the posts, and I am encouraged by what you all do for exercise. However, I am also a little frustrated. I have walked, joined gyms, classes, etc., and I have lost interest in everything. I thought that kickboxing would be cool because I liked learning the moves, but then school (I am working on my Master's) got in the way, and I slowly lost touch with the class. Now, I have moved to a town that doesn't have much by way of exercise. They do have a gym, but I don't always like just running on a treadmill. Besides, I have a 1 1/2 hour commute to and from work each day, and I don't have the time with homework and church and home to fit in exercise. At least that is what I tell myself.

One of my goals is to do exercise during commercials while I am watching TV, but I am so tired when I get home that I don't feel like moving once I am parked on the couch.

I get so jealous when I watch something like "Dancing with the Stars" because I wish I could dance. I would love to take dance classes, but they don't offer any close to me. The most they have are aerobics classes with dance moves included, but I want to actually LEARN the dance, you know what I mean? I pray, and I ask God to help me get motivated to exercise, but I always feel like I am asking Him for something so silly. What can I do to get motivated? I want to lose weight, but I feel positively lazy and unmotivated, and it is so FRUSTRATING!!!!!!! emoticon
