So far so good - since I started back on sparkpeople a couple of weeks ago, I've been pretty consistently using it more and more, and I'm feeling things clicking. :)

Should be interesting to see how this weekend goes - last weekend I did pretty well except for one unplanned Wendy's stop as I was driving home from Indianapolis and hadn't planned well enough for snacks on the drive. Usually weekends are tougher because I've got a routine down during the week (and working 3rd shift, our weekend schedule is a crap-shoot at best). And this week I'm taking Friday off (we've got a concert we're going to Friday night, so I'll flip my schedule a day early), which means a 3 day weekend. I'm determined to log into SP every day, which seems to be a good way to keep me reminded to watch what I'm doing and pay attention. Here's hoping it works! :)

Call me Euphrates (I prefer it to my given name of Lisa, and use it everywhere outside of work)

How's everyone doing, now that summer is here?

I've got a tough season ahead of me dealing with a huge deadline at work, so I'm just focusing on exercise for stress release and maintaining the weight I'm at.

I hope everyone is doing a good job with their goals. Tell us about your efforts!

Wow, looks like it's been awhile since anyone posted on this thread. I hope everyone is doing well and getting fit.

I'm having a tricky time. I'm trying to make changes that are sustainable long-term, but that means the progress is SLOW. This week I'm focusing on meeting my cardio goals while getting more consistent with strength. I'm using the Spark Bootcamp videos and I have done four of them in the last five days, so that's something to be proud of. Focused on the baby steps!

Sorry to hear you're feeling defeated, Jycaegima, but I can definitely relate. Spent much of the day feeling like a total loser, but I eventually rallied, got some stuff done, exercised, and make a pot of healthy soup to get me through the next few days.

Husker Mama, I didn't watch the super bowl and am thinking maybe that's why the Colts lost? emoticon
(I live in Indiana)

Charity Dawn, hope you're feeling better!

Geminix, Hmmm. I don't know what to suggest. It was kind of embarrassing, but I did find that telling the friends that I used to pig out with that I was trying to get healthier led most of them to being supportive and not tempting me as much. I have also been known to bring yogurt to a party and eat it instead of the big, gooey dessert. Good luck while you try different options and see what works!

So of course last Wednesday I started to feel really run down. I just assumed it would be the fact that I haven't really been sleeping well because my TMJ has been playing up and it's causing me to either grind my teeth or cham them. So I thought well if I get sleep at the weekend that will help. Nope hasn't helped at all. Got a cold or the start of some sort of infection. Really should know better with all the health issues I had last year since my immune system loves to attack itself (thank you Lupus) that it would happen sooner or later. So been sleeping a good chunk of the week away which really makes me sad since I just wanted to go to the gym. Hoping that I don't have to go to the dr's to get on anything because well it would kinda defeat the whole purpose of avoiding the dr's this year. Will see how I'm feeling come Thursday if I still feel like I am breathing out of a tiny hole then I think it will leave me no real option

We have to know that sometimes people will let us down. Caring about others and loving others takes risk and probably more than we have in us most of the time. But I think the more we put out there, we'll have something returned greater than we could have imagined.

Sometimes, my "extracurriculars" lead me to some bad decision-making when it comes to food. I need to set up a system or something. Like, a list or a note I'll stick to different places that I'll notice when I'm elsewhere in my mind, which will help me remember... or, maybe, planning ahead, so if I know I'm gonna be partying, I'll just pack a whole bag of really good things that I can veg out on, like celery, carrot sticks, an apple, maybe some plain popcorn...

Any ideas??

I've got big plans for this week. I did a lot of cooking today, so the fridge is stocked with healthy food options, and I got a head start on my weekly exercise goals.

My town hosts a big GLBTQ film festival next weekend, so I'm looking forward to tapping into the queer community and burning some calories on the dance floor at the after party!

Hi Geminix, glad you're feeling at home here. I can relate to what you're saying about straddling the line. I'm in a long-term relationship with my female partner and most of our friends are straight and not so interested in hearing how we might have different challenges because we're queer.

I also have a boyfriend (and let me tell you, THAT raised some eyebrows in our relatively small midwestern town) and I'm surprised sometimes at how invisible I feel when I'm traveling with him. People just assume we're heterosexual, and after so many years with a lesbian partner, I found that very strange indeed.

I'm Sue, and I won't let fear hold me back.

I wish I could have gotten more involved with this club... sometimes I don't even have the time to sit home and simply log in my food and cardio for the day! But I'm glad I took a moment to feel the water, and I must say, I'm diving right in! I'm really excited to have a group to relate to - being bisexual has always put me on the fence to people. My gay friends can be standoffish at the fact that I am engaged to a man, while my straight friends deny my attraction towards women all together for the same reason. It's so strange to me - but it doesn't hold me down! Anyway, I just wanted to thank you all for being a group that I could be a part of too... it really means a lot to me.

Keep warm this winter!!

Sorry to hear about your asthma, Dan. I know health problems can make it really hard to exercise. Have you been able to keep up with a routine?

I imagine everyone is super busy with the holidays. Are you all sticking with your usual routines, or slacking off a little? I've cut myself some slack, but am still trying to exercise every day and decline temptation at least once or twice a day (even if I give in at other times).

Hi Team,

Sorry I haven't been around lately but I have been really sick due to my asthma. I am starting to work out again but it is really slow going. This is an awesome group and it has really grown since I took over as team leader. Thanks for your support

Ah, J, I know that's hard! But emoticon .

It sounds like you are doing really well! And isn't that a great feeling, regardless of what the scale is saying? My guess is that your body is a little bit like "Hey now, hey now! What's going on here?" because you're shaking things up, and that it will just be another week or so before those pounds start rolling off. It's just going to take a little time for your body to get with the new program. But keep it up! You're really doing well.

I'm Sue, and I won't let fear hold me back.

Alright everyone...I'm stressing and you guys are my support :)

I have been eating right and watching every single bite I put in my mouth, trying to stay within my nutrition goal for 8 days now. No starving myself, I'm trying to actually change my eating style altogether.

The problem is I feel like I'm doing SO GOOD...yet the scale is not reflecting it. It's really starting to get me down and I really could use some support.

Thanks everyone, and best of luck in achieving your own goals!!

Hi Everybody! How's fall treating you? Holiday temptations haven't kicked in for me yet, but my job kind of exploded over the last month, so I've been trying to keep up the healthy habits amid lots of change. Guess that's the trick to learn, huh?

I'm having a good week, exercise and food-wise. And today, for the first time in a while, I've got my usual level of energy back. Yay!

Good wishes to everyone who's under the weather! It's that time of year, I guess. Hopefully it doesn't throw anyone too far off their goals.

So far I've managed to avoid getting sick this season (knock on wood). Instead, I'm just plugging away at work, trying to get caught up. Last week that meant I exercised much less than normal. This week, I'm going to try to fix that.

I'm all sickly today which is naturally an un-motivator for me but what I discovered today is that by sucking in my gut I'm really only camouflaging an inch. I give up, I'm not sucking in anymore.

p.s. I swear this was effective when I was 19!

p.p.s. shortest rant ever haha

I'm enjoying a rainy Sunday at home. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I had a full day where I didn't have anywhere to be. Later on, we're having some friends over for a healthy meal, then I'm hoping to challenge somebody to a game of basketball, if the weather clears. Enjoy the day!

I'm Sue, and I won't let fear hold me back.

Way to go ANBENNER!

I'm worn out today, but I staid in my calorie range and burned my requisite calories, so now I'm taking it easy for the rest of the evening.

I'm doing pretty good so far... I was at a standstill for a week or two, but I'm still ahead of my goals. My goal for the end of this month was 184 and I've passed that, so go me.

Mini goal is to reach 165 by my cousin's wedding on August 14, 2010.

It's nice to see some of you coming back to say hi. It kinda motivates me to get back on the wagon. This is my 3rd day in a row of doing cardio.
