The Gaol Achieving Express has arrived....climb aboard as this is day 1..... How did you do today? I have a blog about the Express. I think we should post our progress and or stumbling blocks once a week. I will post mine in a blog on either Thursday afternoon (after TOPS weigh in) or on Friday. This is just a way for us to support each other. I suppose we could post under a Goal Achieving Express thread since it might be easier to keep up with everyone and wouldn't add a lot to the regular board. Whatever everyone wants to do.

We had a beautiful Lord's day with 2 great messages at church. Also had several people check out books and videos from the library.

I did manage to get a nap this between services.

Not much else today.

Elsie

Elsie, I'm aboard for the Goal Achieving Express. How do we go about it? Should we start a new post called the GOAL ACHIEVING EXPRESS? I'm excited about it. Once it's set up, I can get in contact with our members to see if they are interested in it. CONGRATULATIONS on your 4-pound weight loss of water! That is a HUGE achievement! WooHoo!

Sandy, I'm hoping it won't be long before I hear from my Broker again. He's checking 2 homes right now. My water retention is why I fluctuate between 5 - 7 pounds. The thyroid medicine I take has helped a little towards me not retaining so much water anymore. My face, fingers and ankles used to be so bloated.

emoticon I'm going to start a new post for our October chats. Hoping you have a wonderful first day of October.

TOMORROW WILL BE THE FIRST DAY BOARDING THE GOAL ACHIEVING EXPRESS!!! Are you aboard? There is lots of room for anyone who wishes to join.

All of my fluid weight is gone!!..WOOHOO!!! So is the stiffness and puffiness.

Nothing special planned for today except trading beds with my daughter. They have a full size and I have a queen size. They are large people so the full size is small for them and with just me, I don't really need the queen size. Besides it will give me a little more room---or rather more room for either junk collection or for DJ....hehehe

I've been cold most of the morning. It was 42 when I got up and is now up to 49. Supposed to be in the low 70s today.

As I suspected, it was fluid weight as I have gone down 4 pounds (per my scales) already and I'm not as stiff.

Love this beautiful weather we are having right now.

Yesterday, I put 2 small pieces of roast in the crockpot and this morning I added potato, cabbage, and carrots. It will be done for my supper tonight and tomorrow.

I hope you can find a trailer you can afford Monika. It is better to put your money into something you can own. Whenever you rent they always keep raising the rates. At least when you buy even though it may go up some due to taxes or insurance it usually isn't much. I like the idea of adding a goal place where people could sign up to do it. We could have 5 different goals. They can be as simple as lose a pound a week, exercise 15 minutes a day, eat 5 fruits & vegetables. Elsie my weight fluctuates a lot due to water retention and my knees get stiffer when I am retaining water so I'm sure that is what you are going through. Hopefully next week will be better.

Monika..."Goal Achieving Express" is just a name I made up for our October goal run. Just something to make it more fun and interesting.

I really blew it this week---weigh in was terrible---weight WAY up. I am puffy and stiff moving so may be fluid again. Also, I ate out 3 times this week and you know how much sodium is in the food they prepare.

Now I have even more astringent goals to accomplish...

Good morning! I am so excited to having relaxation time. The last couple of weeks were busy ones. I'm getting a break from the beginning of the school year IEP's. August, September, March and April are the busiest times for scheduled IEP's. Because our landlord is increasing the rent for those that won't sign a 1-year lease, I've been helping two of my neighbor-friends pack up their things in boxes. One lost her job so she had to downsize to a smaller apartment. The other one wanted to downsize from renting the 3-bedroom townhouse to moving closer to her mom. They used the same movers. This past Saturday the movers came to each of their homes and picked up their furniture. Because they still had scattered boxes to pack, we took them over on Sunday and Monday. We finally finished cleaning both of the townhouses so that they can get their security deposits back. Now, I am in high hopes of finding a mobile home to purchase instead of throwing away my money towards additonal rent. I sure could use some prayers and positive thoughts.

Laura, I'm so glad there wasn't any damage in the earthquake you felt. It seems like they are becoming more frequent. Congratulations on your new job! When do you begin it? I remember when my 33-year old daughter attended Kindergarten, not only did they take naps but a couple recess breaks as well. When my teen-aged sons began attending Kindergarten the school districts no longer offered naps. By the time they came home, they would be so tired and it took all I had for me to not let them take a short nap. Otherwise, they would have been be up half the night. I can't understand why they discontinued naps because children at that age have short-attention spans and become restless when sitting for long periods at a time. Do Private schools still offer naps?

Elsie, Congratulations on your 2-pound weight loss and shedding 1-inch from your hips and waist! I am so PROUD of you! WooHoo! I love your October goals. I know you will meet your goals. What a wonderful idea about the one-pound per week goal! To lose 10 to 12 pounds by Christmas would be a wonderful gift to yourself and others. I met my September goal by maintaining my goal weight. During the October birthdays and holiday season are when my weight fluctuates between 5 - 7 pounds, since I cook all the favorite-birthday and holiday meals. My October goal is to continue maintenance and keep my blood pressure down.Thank goodness, I'm not much on eating what my daughter and I bake throughout October - December celebrations. It's the main course that I do tend to cheat on. What is the Goal Achieving Express? I never heard of that before. Where is it located at?

Sandy, Congratulations on your 5-pound weight loss! I have confidence that you will meet your 6-pound weight-loss goal for October. I do hope you and your husband get to feeling better.

emoticon emoticon What do you all think of starting a new forum for each monthly goal? It would help us remain accountable and support one another. It may also bring out the inactive members to pursue their goals during the holiday season. We could begin the first one for the month of October.

I'm hoping everyone is enjoying their autumn day.

There is still time to climb aboard the Goal Achieving Express---it arrives Sunday October 2,

Keep your goals short, simple, and achievable. Post a weekly status report on how you are doing, andy successes, stumbling blocks , and/or detours.

It is beautiful weather out. I always enjoy fall. The weather isn't bad and it is a good time to be outdoors. I will come up with some more goals myself and I challenge the rest of you to make some goals.

I love this weather we are having. The temps are perfect.

Anyone else want to climb on the Goal Achieving Express--no tickets needed as they are free. The ride is free but the climb is hard. Come along and surprise yourself.

Congratulations on your weight loss Elsie. I have lost about 5 pounds but it is part of some pounds I had put on. I still have 8.6 pounds to get rid of. My goal will be 6 pounds for October. My throat is so sore today and so is my husbands. I hope I start feeling better soon. It will be good exercise for your dog too to go for a walk.

Samantha and Veronica (step-sister) really enjoyed themselves. I enjoyed watching them have fun.

Here we are closing in on the end of September. Have you met your goals for Sept? Did you set goals for Sept? Have you made October goals? One pound per week will mean that 10 to 12 pounds will be gone by Christmas---now wouldn't that be grand?

I have not displaced the 5 pounds that was my goal for Sept. I did dispose of 2 pounds for the month and 1 inch off my hips and waist.

My October goal is 8 pounds---5 for October and 3 from September. This is a long reaching goal that I am going to set my mind to work towards.

I am eating better and still should decrease the size of my portions. I eat a lot of vegetables but one can have too large of a portion of even the good stuff. This is my main problem---too large of a portion. If one peach or apple is good then 2,3 or 4 is even better---right???? NOT!!!

My October goals:

1.. down 8 pounds by Oct. 31

2. proper portion sizes

3. walk outside (as long as the weather holds) 20 to 30 minutes 5 of 7 days

These will be achieved by:

1. posting my official TOPS weight every Thursday and measure waist and hips Oct. 6 & 20 and post results

2. blog each Monday about progress and/or problems

3. get DJ into the habit of going for a walk so he will bug me until I take him ---he can be quite persistent....malamutes are stubborn dogs

Sandy---I am the one near Carthage...

Back from granddaughter's 21st birthday party. Also celebrated son in law's (her step-dad) birthday. His was yesterday and hers is tomorrow. I will be taking her to the casinos after church tomorrow.

Other than the party, picking up her cake, and doing 2 loads of laundry this has been a quiet day.

I should get my truck back by Wednesday so I can get some trees to plant.

Hi ladies! I'm sorry about the earthquake Laura. What part of Missouri are you in? I know one of you lived near Carthage but can't remember if it was you or Elsie. I'm so happy for your weight loss Elsie. I ate at a buffet today and didn't eat one unhealthy thing. I was so proud.

Just had a 3.6 earthquake in my area. Pretty close. No injuries or damage reported b/c it was pretty much outside of towns.

Any else on here feel it? In my town some are claimin to have felt it--but most didn't.

I don't understand why they quit giving naps. When my kids were in kindergarten they would come home and fall asleep on the couch as soon as they got home. Does that sound like kids don't need naps in kindergarten? I had my bio son in private school for 6 years. I hated having to take him out but I was a single parent and could no longer afford it. Except for no naps in kindergarten I like our public schools in Raymore. Now that the Kansas City schools lost their accreditation I hope we don't get a bunch of extra kids in our schools. That parents in that district can send their kids to other districts now. We are not as close as some but I am worried that other districts will get filled and they will send the kids here. Elsie I'm glad you got some mums. I bet your yard looks nice.

I don't homeschool. I am teaching at a boarding school. He took a nap on Sunday after church. Alex goes to the public school KDG and they don't give naps. Apparently, it is no longer believed that a 5 year old needs one. Yeah right. It makes me sick how much they expect of kids nowadays.

I am actually getting a new job (same career) and will be making slightly more. I am thinking of pulling him out and sending him to private school. We will have to talk finances.

It is lovely here today too. I might try taking the kids on a short walk after lunch to get them tired for a nap. I will try the 30 minute thing too. Have fun fixing up your yard.

Sandy---I remember days like that when mine were little...I would tell them they don't have to go to sleep but just rest for 30 minutes...generally within 10 minutes they were asleep....they were quieter and stiller thinking they didn't have to go to sleep.

We have been gifted a nice warm sunny day. I am getting ready to go to Lowe's to get some fall flowers, look at some trees, and get some mulch for my roses. Way too nice to stay inside all day.

That sounds like a neat service Elsie. I would have liked that. My newly 4 year old is balking at taking naps but she still needs one so I try to get her to lay down. She took one yesterday. I think you are brave at home schooling Laura. My husband has a niece who home schooled and all of her children ended up in college taking engineer type courses. They have all graduated now and have good jobs. I'm just not organized enough.

We have had rain all day, but nothing too exciting. I am thinking I want to go to bed at a decent hour tonight! My 5 year old actually took a nap and went to bed at his bed time. That hasn't happened since school started.

We had a unique service today. Lightning hit 2 transformers in Carthage so we had the whole service without power. The power flickered on and off several times then the last 10 minutes or so of church it stayed on. God sure was flexing His muscles this morning. We had power for the evening service. I spent 2 1/2 hours working in the church library this evening.

Pastor called the service...the in the natural service..didn't have microphones or anything not even candles.

The power company was working on getting the power back because the fire station is right across the street and they didn't have power either.

We did get more rain today. Nice slow rain in our area...a good soaking rain.

God bless....Elsie

My 10 and 11 year old had fun playing the games and winning the tickets. They love arcade games but because most of them aren't cheap my husband doesn't let them so they had fun playing the games here. It sounds like you used to have some really fun parties Monika. My kids were invited to a birthday party with a Halloween theme one year. They really enjoyed it. My daughter likes sleepovers. Derrick had one for his last birthday. Haunted house themes are fun. We used to have a neighbor who would turn his garage into a haunted house every Halloween. It would get better every year. Right before Halloween I found out the couple split up and there was no haunted house last year. I really missed it. Shilah got her bike today but it rained all day. Hopefully her helmet will get here tomorrow.

The weather has been awesome! Even with the rain, it is so wonderful. Makes me ready for fall. But not winter, brr.

I am running a Biggest Loser Challenge over in Parents of Infants. It is helping me to be more motivate to work out. But I still haven't gotten around to logging any of it.

I haven't been to a Chuck E. Cheese since I was pregnant with my 5 year old. I really need to go into one again! We went to an arcade in Branson though, it kinda got rid of my craving. The restraunt is only awesome b/c I love to play the arcade style games and get lots of tickets.

It's a drizzly day in St. Louis. I'm glad the rain isn't coming in from my windows being open. I'm enjoying this cooler day. Sandy, I'm glad Shilah had a wonderful birthday. Happy belated Birthday, Shilah! I bet she is so excited to get her bike today. When my grandson was younger, we used to celebrate his birthdays at Chuck E. Cheese. Because of my son's birthdays being a week within one another in mid-October, we used to celebrate by having a Halloween-themed Birthday party. Their friends had a great time dressing up in their halloween costumes and eating halloween-theme finger foods. It took days for me to prepare the foods and plan the games that related to Halloween. I do miss the fun times we had. However, with them being teenagers, they prefer having a couple of their best friends for a combo pizza/video-games/sleep-over party. They still enjoy me decorating the indoors like a haunted house. Every year our friends come over to see what new thing I added to the indoors. (LOL) Elsie, hoping all is well with you.

Have a blessed and serene Sunday.

Our problem is we don't get any breaks from the kids. We did use respite for the foster children when we went on our trip. We probably are both run down. When our foster children leave we plan to take a break for a while. We had a party today at Chuck E. Cheese for Shilah. She had a good birthday. I still have her bike to go pick up. Her party was in Independence which is north of us and her bike is over in Kansas west of us. They couldn't put the bike together until today so I haven't been out to get it yet. I thought we could go pick it up after Church tomorrow. It is really cool here too. It rained here too. We had a possum in our garage last night. I'm glad it didn't come out to bother me when I put Shilah's presents in the car last night. Everybody snuggle under your covers tonite and stay warm.

Good afternoon, ladies! Elsie, that's great that you are volunteering once a month at the hospital. You definitely will get a good workout from it. It's cloudy and cool today. I have all my windows open. The leaves on our trees are slowly beginning to change color. Sandy, could your 14-year old be struggling with something at school that he may not have shared? That's a drastic change from a week ago. I hope that your DH starts to feeling well. Are you able to get anyone to help out at times to give you a break from the kids? Your exhaustion may be the cause of your health running down. Even though I didn't use Respite Care, I was given the opportunity to use it while I was fostering my grandson. I do hope you are able to get some relief.

Have a beautiful and blessed weekend.

My kids are okay. I am having trouble with my 10 year old doing his homework. The 14 year old had good grades about a week ago when I checked but this week they were horrible. My husband doesn't have much get up and go right now but I don't really have as much lately either. I think I stay worn out trying to keep track of everyone. Your volunteer job sounds like good exercise Elsie.

Today was my first 4 hour shift as a volunteer at the hospital so I did a lot of walking. We escort people to where they need to go instead of just giving them directions. I got in a good 90 minutes of walking or maybe even more than 90 minutes. I will do this on the 3rd Friday of the month.

Much cooler today with a little rain.

Hi Elsie and Sandy! I am so glad you both are feeling better before this weekend starts. Sandy, how is your husband feeling? How are your kids doing? I am enjoying this cooler weather. It is so much nicer to walk and smell the fresh air again. I feel like I have more energy during the cooler months than in the summer heat. I'm hoping you both have a wonderful weekend.

It is 56 here today and is supposed to get up to 61 today and tomorrow. It got chilly last night. I just drug out the heavy blanket for tonite. All we had was a quilt. I woke up in the middle of the night shutting windows and turning off the fan. I'm glad you are feeling better Elsie. I am feeling better today too. I'm glad your roof is done Monika. It makes it so much nicer when you don't have to listen to a bunch of pounding.

What a difference a day makes...Yesterday at this time we were still in the 80s tonight it is 56.

This will be a short post due to the lateness of me getting here.

I was sick most of the day yesterday but after taking an allergy pill I am much better today.

Take care...Elsie

Elsie and Sandy, I do hope you both get to feeling much better. Since waking up this morning, we have had cooler temperatures, however a lot of rain. There are so many flash floods from the creeks going up. I am so grateful that our roof is completed. No more pounding! WooHoo!

Have a beautiful and blessed day.

I kept waking up with my knees hurting last night because our weather is changing. It is 61 degrees here today and looks like it could rain. I'm sorry they wouldn't come down on the price Monika. In the economic climate you would think they would want to see quikly. It is good to see you Elsie. My husband and I get dizzy off and on but we are hanging in there.

It is 100 right now. It was only supposed to get to 95 today. I broke down and turned the AC on---sure don.t need or want DJ to get sick.

I woke up with a real heavy feeling over my right eye and ear plus dizziness. I had to hold the walls or a chair to walk. I took an adllergy pill so it is better now. I am just very tired today.

Hello, ladies! The roofers still are not finished with our townhouse. They have been working on the other townhouses at the same time as they are with us. I only hope they are almost finished. They were suppose to be finished by today. I'll believe it when I no longer hear the constant pounding. (LOL) The mobile home I was interested in fell through. The owner didn't want to come down on her price, even though she was going to take the major appliances with her. I told my broker that I was no longer pursuing the purchase of her home. By the time I would have had to replace the appliances, I would have been above my budget. Usually, appliances remain in mobile homes that are being sold. I'm a little bit disappointed, however it must not have been meant to be. I haven't given up yet. I'm just taking my time.

Sandy, I am so sorry you and your husband has been sick. You must have caught the virus that has been going around. I hope it doesn't turn into the flu. My son is still not feeling up to par. Though, I've sent him to school, he goes to bed a lot earlier than usual. I'm thinking it can be his sinus acting up because of the over-the-counter medicine seems to be clearing it up a little. Whenever, it's cool outside, I open the windows to freshen the indoors. Since then, he's been having flair-ups. I no longer keep the windows open. I am glad you are beginning to feel better. I do hope your husband gets to feeling better soon.

Elsie, are you coming down with something? I sure hope not. It seems since the weather turned cooler a lot of people are losing their resistance. It's warming up in St. Louis again. I will be glad when it becomes Fall. I can handle the cooler temps much better than the warmer ones.

Pam, I do hope you are doing well.

Laura, hoping to hear from you in our chats again.

Hoping everyone has a wonderful and blessed afternoon. Healing prayers for those who are sick.

I feel a lot better today. I've got some of my energy back. I tried some yogurt that was supposed to take like cinnamon rolls. It was only 100 calories. I didn't really care for it but the baby liked it and ate most of it so I tried the Weight Watcher one that was apple pie a la mode. It was really good. It even had tiny chunks of apples in it. It was also 100 calories. I would highly recommend it.

Sandy---sure hope you aren't coming down with something.

I slept quite a bit yesterday, too...took a 2 hour nap between church services then went to bed early. I had a difficult time waking up this morning. I got up for about 90 minutes then laid back down and was woke up 90 minutes later by a phone call from one of my daughters.

Looks like we are in for a couple of high temp days and still no rain.

Just finished my snack of cukes and cauliflower with homemade fat free dill dip. Making a salad for lunch and supper.

My husband and I were so weak today. I'm not sure why but we were both feeling bad. Luckily the bigger kids watched Dilond for an hour so we could get some rest and by then Dilond was taking a nap so we stayed in bed until 3:00. I was up for a while around 10:00 making breakfast for the kids. When I got done I was so tired I went to lay down with hubby.

Good morning, ladies. Today is Patriot Day. As we all know, today is the 10th Anniversary of 9-11. I will forever remember the shock and horror of watching the terrorist's attacks against the Twin Towers of the WTC in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia and into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. My sorrow and prayers reaches out to all the victims who have died, the families of their lossed ones who suffered thereafter and may continue to do so today, the bravery of the heroes who saved so many lives and our U.S. soldiers who continue to fight for our freedom. United We Stand! God Bless America and the lives that have been forever changed.

Today is also Grandparents Day. For all those who are grandparents, may your Sunday be filled with beauty and blessings.

I hope you get to feeling better soon Pam. I'm glad you're better Laura. Dilond is better but my husband was feeling bad. I felt a little nauseous in the morning but was fine later. I'm sorry about your son Monika. I hope he feels better soon. We had rain today too. It was nice for a change.

I guess it was just an isolated thing Thursday as I have felt fine the past 2 days.

I just love this weather we have ben having. Warm but not hot and cool but not cold at night. I am able to keep the doors and windows open and don't have to run the AC.

Good afternoon, ladies. When my youngest son came home from school yesterday, he told me that he wasn't able to keep his lunch down. Also, he was feeling hot and cold. I asked him why he didn't go to the nurse's office to have them call me to pick him up and he told me he didn't want to listen to the loud pounding from the roofers. Poor guy was running a fever and was unable to get any sleep for several more hours after coming home. Today, I am keeping him at home. There is definitely a virus going around. Fortunately it is suppose to rain today so the roofers will have to finish the remaining work next week. Thank goodness, my son is able to rest.

Elsie, I am going to try the 15-bean recipe. It sounds so good. I only wish my sons would eat it. They are not much into any type of vegetable soup. (LOL) I hope you are not coming down with the virus that my son is suffering through. In St. Louis, there are so many people sick with it.

Sandy, it sounds like your 18-month old son has caught the virus that has been spreading. WOW, your kids are keeping you and your husband hopping. I can imagine what your calendar looks like. I do hope you are able to relax this weekend. Sending healing prayers to your 18-month old.

Hoping everyone has healthy and serene day.

Our 18 month old was running a fever again today and later on around 5:00 tonite he threw up. I had to take Derrick to Marshall Arts and then to boy scouts right after. Our 14 year old called this morning and told my husband he was staying after school to help build sets for acting class and would call us at 4:30 and let us know where to pick him up. At 5:00 when I left he still hadn't called. He never did call until around 6:30. Poor husband had to drag the little ones with him to pick up Sam. My son is selling popcorn for scouts starting Saturday. He is really gung ho. He thinks he is selling $600 worth. I will take him around the neighborhood but I can't see him selling that much but I do hope he does well. I bet my husband would love your 15 bean soup Elsie. He really likes beans. I'm glad you are feeling better Laura. It probably is wise to take another day off just to be on the safe side. Monika, I hope you and the dogs survived the pounding of the roofers. When ours was put on we both still worked so we didn't have to go through it. I better go and finish sparking so I can go to bed.

Monika--15 bean soup is a combination of 15 different beans and lentils. I found it in the dry bean section of the grocery and thought I would try it since I like bean soup. It is very good and lots of protein. Plus I added barley to it. I soaked the beans overnight then put them in the slow cooker and let it cook all day. I used turkey ham for flavoring and added a can of carrots. Normally I use fresh carrots but I didn't have any so I just stuck in a can of carrots to ass a little sweetener to it.

I didn't do well at TOPS---weight is up. I woke up all stiff and swollen. Not sure why. Just the weather I guess...Next week will be better. Good thing I walked DJ every day or my weight may have been up even more...and I had on heavier clothes today.

What a beautiful morning to wake up to! I am enjoying this cooler weather. It feels so good to be outdoors without suffocating from the humid air we've had over a week ago. Because we are having the roofer's today, I sent my son to school. He is feeling a little bit better. I am dreading the all-day pounding. I wish they could have waited until tomorrow. I would have checked ourselves into a hotel that allows dogs. Even though I adopted my beagle from the Humane Society a couple of years ago, I suspect that she came from a puppy mill because she gets nervous over the littlest things. This is going to be one long day.

Elsie, this weather seems to be helping you feel better. You have been so busy since the cooler temps started. What is the 15 Bean soup? I never heard of that recipe before. It sounds delicious. Good luck on your TOPS weigh-in tomorrow.

Sandy, I thought I was busy throughout my son's school year. You are one busy lady. I am fortunate that my volunteer service is usually during the school hours. My younger son has been wanting to join a Martial Arts class. Have you noticed positive changes in Derrick since he began his classes? I was told that it builds children's self-esteem. My son doesn't have any depth perception. Because my son has no depth perception, he gets injured alot by any sport he plays in. I feel so bad for him because he is unable to join the Middle School team sports such as basketball and baseball. He can't judge the distance when the balls are thrown to him.

Laura, I hope you are feeling much better today. Sending healing thoughts your way.

Sandy--the balancing act is hard when you get multiple kids going.

Monika and Sandy--Thank you, I am dehydrated a little today, but trying to get my water in. I am feeling a little better, but have drainage (TMI) I am going to take tonight off to mend some more before I work out.

I am really loving these cooler temps and hope it stays this mild before getting really cold.

Didn't do much today as I drank too much raspberry tea with caffeine in it and didn't sleep well. Tonight I am quite tired.

Took Valerie (middle daughter) to do some grocery shopping this morning, then did 2 loads of winter clothes and hung them out. Tonight, I had to go take granddaughter to work as their van wouldn't start again. They have my truck so i don't have to go out at 11:30 tonight and pick Samantha up from work.

We set a record low this morning at 44.....went up to 76 now down to 63. It was cool enough that I made 15 bean soup for my supper. Started it cooking yesterday in the slow cooker.

Weigh in tomorrow at TOPS.....Elsie

Elsie it sounds like you are quite the bargain hunter. I'm sorry you were down sick. I'm sorry your son is sick Monika. It must be going around. Our 18 month old felt warm today so I gave him some Tylenol. I'm glad you had fun at the casino Elsie. I spent the whole day running errands and running kids around after school. Tamela started back in dance last night and Derrick started Martial Arts. Unfortunately they are on the same nights. Derrick also goes on Thursday nights which is tricky because we also have scouts that night. I think I will just barely have time after Martial Arts to get over to Scouts. I will be cutting it close since they are a good 25 minutes apart.

Good morning, ladies. I am enjoying these cooler temperatures. However, my son is home sick today. He must have caught the bug that has been going around. I'm hoping he gets better so he won't have to endure the roofer's pounding when they replace our roof Thursday or Friday.

Pam, I hope you are feeling better so that you and your husband can enjoy your visit at Grants Farm today.

Laura, I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling too well. I hope you and your sons get over the bug that has been going around.

Elsie, I am so glad you and your daughter had a wonderful time at the casino. You definitely got some great deals from your shopping yesterday. What are your plans on this beautiful and cooler temperature's day?

Sandy, what did you do to enjoy the outdoors yesterday? You doing anything to take advantage of another wonderful day outdoors?

I'm hoping everyone has a wonderful and healthy day.

We enjoyed a perfect day here. I spent the day doing errands and going to casinos with my oldest daughter. I spent $23 for approximately 6 hours of entertainment then walked DJ after I got back home.

I managed to snag a couple of super buys today. At Michaels, I got a $40 case for $23 for my beads then at Bed and Beyond, I got a $25 pressure cooker for a little over $11. All in all a very good day. Even my food choices were good---at Subway Maria (daughter) and I split a roasted chicken breast sandwich. It was on flat bread. Then at the casino, we had salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and green beans.

Now I am catching up on things here......Elsie

I guess I worked too hard in my yard because I got tired enough to catch the bug my boys have had. Yesterday was horrible. I wanted to go out and enjoy the weather, but no such luck. Today I am stuffy and still feel flushed--but no sore throat. So hopefully I am on the mend.

Good morning, Chris, Elsie, Sandy and Laura! I'm so glad you all are enjoying the cooler weather conditions. It couldn't have happened at a better time with all the BBQ's happening this past Labor Day weekend. I had geese flying over my house this morning. It was awesome watching them. Sometime this week they will be replacing our old roof with a new one. I am not looking forward to the all-day pounding. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with my beagle. She got nervous when they were placing the slabs onto the roof. My neighbors down the street had to leave their townhouses because the pounding got so bad. They warned me that the roofers didn't get done until after 8:30 the same evening. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've never had to have a roof replaced.

I'm hoping everyone has a wonderful day.

Hi Elsie & Laura! You two have been laboring hard today in your yards. I had to go out and get some shopping done. I went to 3 stores getting various things the family needed. I did a little birthday shopping for Shilah. I got crickets for Derrick's toad. I put them in the cricket keepers myself since last trip I got them our 14 year old dumps them all into the toad's cage. I keep them separate so the toad doesn't eat them all at once. I try to feed and water the toad myself otherwise the boys get carried away and overfeed it. Everybody have a good week.

Praise the Lord for 70 degree temp today....been outside much of the day---walking the dog, untangling hoses, watering the roses, hanging out laundry, and mowing the dog pen. Still have trees to trim and weed whacking to do.

We had wonderful temperatures here today! I got outside and trimmed the bushes/trees in my yard that our landlord planted--that I hate. I also trimmed all the weeds and vines and junk that grows on the fence line next to our driveway. It has been scratching my truck and blocking my veiw backing out. I don't know about the view backing out yet--haven't gone anywhere--but it looks a lot better! My arms are really shaky too. I am about to hop in the shower, but wanted to stop in.

My 5 year old was working the rake today also. I was proud of him jumping in to help clean up my scraps from trimming. It is good to see them working outside. My youngest (20 months) walked around and pretended to help. Though mostly he just threw cut grass in his hair.

Here in southwest Missouri we too are enjoying a perfect day to have the AC off and the doors and windows open. I am thrilled to be having a week of low temps so I can get some stuff done outside. I need to mow the dog pen and do some weed whacking as well as get the roses ready for mulch and trim some trees. MMMMMMM wonder if I will have time to exercise this week??????

I just returned from walking DJ.

Blessings to all......Elsie

Good morning Missourians! I typically don't like cloudy days, but it is a respite from these super heated summer days we've been having. Nice day to go bicycle riding. Hope everyone can get outside and enjoy the day.

WELCOME to the month of September! Can you believe that summer is almost over? I am hoping everyone has had a wonderful and successful summer. Today, I woke up to the low 70's temperature. Though it is cloudy, I am enjoying having my windows open and feeling the breeze coming from outside. I am looking forward to our cooler temperatures this upcoming week.

Have a wonderful and safe 3-day holiday!
