Hi Valerie,

Sorry to take so long to respond. Thanking God that your son is okay and I know that by the time you read this, you will be better also. emoticon

Life can really beat us up. You said something else that peaked my interest. ...thyroid :)

I had a biopsy today and should have results Tuesday. There is something going on with large and multiple nodules. Is this what you were experience. I've only been type 1 for two years and I tell you, it's always something. But I smile I smile I smile :)

Praying you and your some find balance soon!

I've just recently had to spend an entire week in the hospital after my 15 year-old son had a massive seizure and was then diagnosed with encephalitis. I've had stress in my life before but NOTHING like this!

My perfect numbers went out the window. Instead of running 100 all the time, my "standard" numbers shot up and stuck to around 150, despite throwing extra insulin at them.

I ran temporary basals to no avail. This is the first time something like this has happened to my numbers in 20 years of being type 1...

We've been home over a week now and things are still funky. I usually test almost hourly to keep such tight control but that slipped up in the hospital and until now.

Today, I'm back to testing on my regular schedule because things aren't calming down on their own yet. I've recently lost 40 pounds so that's screwing with my numbers, too.

For a couple days, I actually took an Ativan once a day because I couldn't keep the stress and fear from making me actually feel jittery! Part of my symptoms could be that due to the weight loss, my thyroid medication is possibly needing adjustment; I'm right on the border and potentially taking too large a dose now.

Things are better today and I plan to put myself closer to the top of my list of priorities. My son has improved to the point where I don't have to hover over him like I was.

Valerie
