Great accomplishments! And personal best wishes for the certainly soon to be NP!

Best wishes as well to the 2 year old. On the up side, there are now more tools to maintain a healthy childhood, lifestyle, and long productive life. And if miracles still happen, possibly a cure.

FYI: Check the Diabetes Trials website. There are some incredible new studies ongoing for newly diagnosed Type I and some trial medications that seem to either prolong the "honeymoon", or possible preserve function of unaffected beta cells.

If you like, I can try to find the web link for more details. One such study is being conducted now at University of California San Francisco Medical Center (UCSF). Even though this may not be in your vicinity, they can refer you to the closest to you.

Your post is a great motivator. Hope my comments are supportive and helpful.

Feel free to add me as a SparkFriend.

Warm regards,

John

Okay I know I am the team leader here and I have def. neglected you all in the last couple months as work and college and my new neice who was just dx'ed with type one just like her mom and I. She is 2 and we caught it ahead of time so she is well she is starting the minimed revel and CGM this week which I beleive will be easier on her with less needle sticks. College is killing me slowly lol I am working on my NP degree right now since I got my BA in RN in dec of last yr. Still working as a firefighter/paramedic have not used my RN degree yet but it is a stepping stone to my NP degree. I will say I am doing well at eating healthy and the exercise in fact my daily total insulin is between 30 and 35 units including boluses. I have found with the weight loss my daily needs go down. had knee surgery in march and am back to full work and work outs.My doc appt last week was very frestrating apparently I have lost 10 lbs in week and so he accused me of not talk my insulin but after urine came back with no ketones he was like sorry I am your doctor and it is my job to help you stay healthy. He is a great doctor and has been my doc for over the past 8 yrs so I know he just cares about me and wants me live strong and healthy. hey my A1C for the last 3 months was 5.7!! way cool. So I plan to be around here more often since I missed all of you.
