I have had a pump for 12 years and it's also Minimed. I always do it on my stomach (too much tangling with legs) to the left and right of my belly button. I used to get really bad problems with itching and I realized the longer I leave the site in (3-4 days instead of 2) it gets itchier and redder when I remove it.
Unfortunately that's all I've tried since it comes with the sets, but I am curious to know what else people use.
My problem is I have SO MUCH scarring on my stomach. I saw a dermatologist about it and he said they weren't permanent and would fade, but since I always have a site in, I guess I'll always have scars.
Anyone have thoughts on that?? (Sorry to change the subject!)

My infusion sites are below the belly button. My doctor would like me to "branch" out and use other sites but my skin is more sensitive in other areas (above belly button, legs, arms). I think a lot has to do with the amount of rubbing from clothes also.

My Continuous Glucose Monitoring sensors are inserted above the belly button and I do have problems with those sites. Not so much the sensor adhesive but the tape/dressings I use to keep the sensor in place. I use IV-Prep for my infusion sites and the tape behind the sensors. I then use the Mefix brand of tape for the sensor. That has worked out the best for me but occasionally I still get "skin shear" or reactions to the tape adhesive. I also find if I wear a band-aid too long, I get a reaction from the adhesive.

Sorry, I can't be much help!

Hello all! I have just about given up on this topic with my health care team. My skin has been more sensitive to my infusion site the past two or three years. I tried to see if medtronic changed the formula for their adhesive...no dice. I have tried so many different site preps. The best I have found so far for me is Bard's (I think that is the brand). I think it might just be that my skin is too dry, especially because it is more prevalent in the colder winter months. Any ideas long time pump users? Thanks,
Robin
