CAREY - I'm allergic to the adhesive in my mimimed quicksets, so here's what I do when I change my site:

1. wipe the area with an alcohol swab and wait 90 seconds (length of time it takes alcohol to kill all the badies)
2. wipe a second alcohol swab and wait again (the double cleaning and waiting makes sure I don't get an infection)
3. wipe the area with skin prep (smith & nephew) and let it dry (skin prep makes the tape stick)
4. put down an IV 3000 tape square
5. put in my infusion set

With this method the infusion set adhesive usually sticks. The only time I have trouble is when my belt line or clothing rubs on the infusion set, usually when the infusion set is in my hip. At those times the IV 3000 sticks, but the white circle of adhesive on my infusion set gets pushed down. When that happens I just straighten out the white circle and put a strip of tape over it to hold it in place. Every once in awhile I do have the problem of the sets just falling off, but that is unusual.

I've had a pump for 12 years - I used to get a lot of bleeding - almost every time. Maybe the cannulas are smaller now but I rarely have that problem anymore. If it happens, I don't think twice about it!

well it is not lotion it is numbing cream so I don't feel the insertion and I wipe it clean with iv prep before taping stuff down

I use the IV3000 tape/skin in a 4x4 size over my sensor. I like the bigger size because if the edge starts to come off there's still alot of the tape stuck. i don't need any extra tape for my pump site, but I always make sure to NOT use any lotion on my stomach.

I always put my sites on plain dry clean skin, no cream, no wipes, no nothing on it.
I've found that too many kinds of stuff starts to work against itself, tape on tape on tape just seems to pull itself off, and anything over lotion is doomed to fall back off.

both the adhesive tape on my infusion sets does not like to stick to me and the tagaderm i use on my sensors falls off too even when i haven't showered. The only thing I can think of is to wrap coban around my site and body like if it is on my thigh then wrap it all the way around my thigh or if in my side then wrap around my stomach but I really think that would be a pain in my arse. so any tips would be great. I do have to say it might be due to my emla numbing cream I use prior to insertion of the needles but I wipe that off with IV prep prior to insertion. so I don't know

Carey do u mean CGM sets or regular ones. The CGM sets need 5 lbs of tape to keep them on ..the quick sets come with adhesive pads that help keep them on.

anyone have Ideas on how to keep the infusion tape on for three days as well as the sensors? I seem to have trouble with them falling out after a day or 2 and not even knowing till I am high as a kite.

I've had a few too, and I finally started keeping kleenex or something nearby "just in case", even though it only happens once in a blue moon. emoticon

It's happened to me a few times too. If you ever did injections you could aquate it to how sometimes you got a nasty bruise under your skin from a shot, but most of the time you didn't. It's like you might have hit a small vein under your skin. Just keep pressure on it for a minute or two when you take out the infusion set, and it should stop bleeding.

For me, it's unusual but has happened. I've had my pump for about 9 years and I think this has happened 2, maybe 3 times. I wouldn't worry about it. (I admit, it is very unerving because the blood seems like a LOT for such a small wound!)

Today I changed out my infusion set for my pump and when I pulled out the old set, I started bleeding pretty heavily from the tiny hole in my skin. It stopped pretty quickly, but I'm wondering if this is normal, how frequently I can expect this, and if I did something wrong. I use the Medtronic Quick Sets with the Quick Sert device. I change my sets out every three days as recommended. This is my third time to change the set as I've only had the pump about a week and a half. The other two times I didn't bleed at all.
