I am so excited I mean of course we have no cure but my life has become a little more normal not having to shot up and instead just bolus on the pump and now a CGM will provide better insight to how my BG is affected by foods stress and other factors. it would have been handy this week I had a kidney stone and nausea and vomiting sugars were off of course went to the doctor god bless the man he wanted me to go to the ER because he was afriad i was going into dka and he called them and sent me right over i got seen immed. because they got his report before i got there come to find out my stent in my kidney got displaced and let the stone drop causing the issues went done went home and had to go back to doc on monday to ask for pain meds from the stone all I wanted was toradol but nurse said i had to see doc because i should have gone back to er he sees me and gives me pain meds and zofran for the nausea and let him know if problem persisted. went in agian yesterday nausea meds not working high ketones in urine and so he really wanted me to go to the er but i hate the er I am a medic I drop patients off there not get seen! he comprmised with me and sent me for stat labs at the hospital with ketone serum being the biggest one. called me after the office was closed with the results and asked me to come in and let the nurse hang some fluids for me and give me meds to help and that if i did that he would not send me to the er. today i am tons better still have ketones but only a few from the high yesterday. the doctor is amazing and while i know he wanted this all to be taken care of in the hospital he did repect my issues and fixed it another way. plus if i ever have any issues he is always up for a challenges lol no hospital!! wooohooo!! I feel so much better and I finally got to bump my basal back down. it was 2.00 before being sick had to but it up to 2.50 and not back down to 2.00. ahh the ever unpredictable life of a diabetic. But it is my life so I will do what it takes and step up to the plate!!

Great news!! Be careful to only calibrate when it is not up or down trending, or it can be off by 40+.

It make me feel much safer and more secure. It also allows me to know graphically when I am out of control or need to make different choices.

(Raises her glass) A toast to our continued good health!

A CGM contuinous glucose monitor it is inserted like a pump and wirelessly transfer the readings to my insulin pump. it is a great tool does not remove the need to test with your meter but can pick up trends and lows or highs before they get out of control.

So was on the phone with tricare (insurance) and they will approve the CGM with a letter of medical neccessity!! I am so glad I know it is not a replacement for BG testing but I am sure it will help me since I have no hypoglcemic awareness as well as showing me how different foods effect my sugar!! I am so excited!!
