lol, steel magnolias *sigh*... anyway, i don't bother at the time since it's too much to worry about. usually i either take a couple of glucose tabs, or if i'm really low and panicky i grab some glucose tabs and move on to milk and a peanut butter sandwich and worry about the calories once i'm feeling okay again.

ideally you should count every calorie you eat, but none of us are perfect, and when you're low and panicky or maybe confused and in real trouble, the last thing you should be worrying about is your calories or weight!!

SuperDuper, I'm guilty of that kind of stuff too! I often get panicky and eat too much too and fruit doesn't always do it for me, but that is usually my first try!

My husband had a similar, but somewhat worse first date with me.... Well, it really wasn't our first, but on Christmas Day he came to pick me up for a movie and my parents had to call the rescue squad b/c I wouldn't cooperate or come to.... He went to the ER with me b/c at that time you couldn't refuse transport, and I was laying there and said when I take a shower we can still go.... He thought I was crazy, but it was quite the intro into LBS for him! BTW, we went to see Steel Magnolias and he still married me!

I stopped counting the calories of what I eat when I'm low because I found myself making some pretty stupid decisions (like not treating a low because I was saving my calories for ice cream after dinner) in order to keep within my calorie range for the day. After that I tried to keep under my calorie limit by ~200 calories so that I would always have room to fix a low without worrying about it, but then I would spend more time trying to figure out what to eat within that range and getting lower and lower because I was too far gone to think about calories and numbers rationally.
I have since determined that it is in my best interest to just eat when I need to, and ignore the calories that I end up eating. Yes, it means my calorie count (on the days I bother to count) is off a little, but I can't handle the responsibility (when I'm low) of making a good choice that would stay within my range and get me out of the low.

I have done some crazy stuff!! I go into panic mode, which is dangerous for weight loss because I eat everything within sight normally getting HBS in the process (so it starts all over again) My husband thought I was drunk when we first met, he found me on my mothers kitchen floor with a tupperware bottle of orange juice (he probably thought it was a screwdriver) with a big grin on my face, I was singing with slurred words too!

Hey!
I don't count calories, since I don't really know how to do that...
And when I am low, I eat like, anything, but I usually try to think that fruit gives good energy, and a banana or an apple is usually enough for me to get back to a normal level... I do freak out sometimes though, but I have never tried to eat anything that shouldn't be eaten.. Like a stove or a brief case... hahaha.. : )

I've given up even calculating what I eat on a REALLY low swing (anything under 30, and I get these far more often then I'd be willing to recount).

I don't even KNOW how to calculate how many calories the oven has (once attempted to eat the oven until my son came and gave me something he considered much better at being edible food).

I do. I usually drink some Coke and count those calories into my daily total. I've gone panic mode during a LBS though and lost track of what I ate! But, I try!
