I'm not sure what kind of Challenge...I am not super strict on my food or exercise. I don't deprive and just eat until I feel comfortable. I am also not trying to lose weight, just to maintain...but otherwise I would like to participate in a challenge!
Exercise wise I am just trying to learn many exercises I can use with my TG and challenge myself with different levels
Food wise...I try to eat in the rainbow. Like, I try to eat several colors of fruits and veggies each day.
Breakfast had 2 RED apples, snack I had GREEN grapes, lunch I had GREEN spinach, ORANGE carrots, YELLOW peppers in my meal...then at dinner I had ORANGE carrots
Thats kind of how I think in terms of foods...I try to get different colors in different foods. I find I can get greens easily, reds are easy too (I like apples, tomatoes) however, I find that purples or blues are tough to get. Kind of because I like blueberries but I don't eat them that often. They are kind of expensive...

Hey, how are you doing?!
I just noticed there is a mini forum for challenges, and this chat one.
Are you working on any challenges your doing?
This weekend I will have time to watch more youtube videos with TG exercises to try. But my own routine of exercises that I like is growing. I am up to an hour and a half of workout! Well, that also counts all the time to change levels, multi attachment, and pulley ect.
I might also break my routine into upper versus lower body days. But I do like that while I am doing an arm exercise my leg muscles can rest, then when I work them my arm muscles get a break.

Weather is so nice in the summer I have to get out and walk. I also don't have enough room for my Total Gym. My granddaughter is currently using it in her room. So this is why I haven't chatted here for a while. I will probably have to get back on it in the winter, some how. emoticon

Shirl & Cliff - I have had my TotalGym XLS since September of 2010. My wife and I both use it every week and have since we got it. Instead of folding it up after each use, we moved furniture and got rid of some to make room for the new decoration. My wife is 66 years and was so out of shape, as was I. My wife, Andrea, has never been in such good physical shape in her life. We have been dieting and losing weight like a wild fire. She is down 39 lbs. and I'm down 47 since December 28, 2010. We have toned our bodies and built strength.

We started at level one. Looked pretty horrible watching each other dismount that glide board. Now, we move around gracefully with it. We moved to level 2 after a few months, not wanting to hurt any body parts to quickly. We didn't even get very sore. I have moved to level 3 and she is still loving it on Level 2. The workout takes us about 35 minutes each. We swap off with each series of exercises on the TG and the other works on the Elliptical to keep the cardio going. The DVD programs are really great. We watched the DVDs for many weeks, to make sure we were doing each Exercise with good form. Now, we just jump on and get it going. You can do so many exercises with a minimum amount of switching around. You just go from one to another most of the time.

We truly love it and tell anyone that asks. Some friends declared that it would become a "Clothes Rack" after a few weeks. Not true at all. We only miss a day of using it when we are at the Gym busting our buns and have had all the fun we can't stand.

You will love the results. Ours came with several DVDs of workouts. We started with the basic and have stuck with it for all these months, but added new ones from the more advanced programs. By the way, I'm 75 years old and that machine is delightful for me to use.

We bought the AbCrunches, later and the CylcoTrainer. The AbCrunchers are great. Wanna bike type exercise, buy a bike trainer, though.

We highly recommend the Total Gym XLS.

So how are doing JUJUBEAN33. Still using your Weider I hope. I am using a Total Gym. Just started using a couple of weeks ago after putting it away a year ago (hadn't used in a long time, I guess we got bored with it) Anyway, been using it 2 days a week and this week I am going to use it 3 days. I only do one set of 10 reps right now. I'm starting out slow and plan to work my way up to 3 sets. If I don't take it slowly, I will overdo it and hurt which = no exercise. Wish me luck. AND, much luck to you too.

I have a weider total body 5000. But I really want a new Total Gym xls. I have an older model TG but it didnt have a squat board. I just started working out on my TB5000. I have decided, that if I can stay focused and get to my goal weight, I will splurge and get what I want.

I see this team has been pretty quiet for quiet awhile. I'm hoping someone can help me out- I have a Total Body 500, I love it- and was doing very consistent workouts for awhile on it, but I have carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, etc. and because I use my hands so much- I play piano, harp, and am an artist my arms and wrists just got overwhelmed so I had to stop for quite awhile. I would like to get back at it. My question is- I know I should warm up, I've read several things on that, but I have NO IDEA how to warm up for this particular thing. I need warm ups for my arms and shoulders. Can anyone help me with this or point me to an article that would address this specific thing? Thanks. Carol

Hey there! Newbie to the TG team! emoticon

I've had my Total Gym for close to 10 years and have had great success with it. It is an awesome piece of equipment! emoticon

I have some pictures in my Spark Gallery, that show the muscle gains that the Total Gym has given me. I did stop, for awhile, and use free weights with the P90X system..but my preference is using the TG. The results are the same, yet the Total Gym is LOTS more fun, and a lot less time consuming! emoticon

Welcome, at this point, we are not the most active of teams, but several of us stop by 3-4 times a week. I love my TG, and we do have some great resources on the team page.

Hi How active is this team? I have a Power Glide that I bought from HSN years ago that I really like but have not used much. I work in a gym but I really want to use my power glide. I'd love to be part of an active team to get and give encouragement.

My goal is to do at least 10 min. on it each day. I also have a mini tramp and a BOSU ball that I want to incorporate daily. I have the education and certifications - I want my body to be fit too so I feel better and so I have more credibility in the gym.

Whether you think you CAN or think you CAN'T - You are correct!

I'm very excited! Today I upgraded to a Total Gym XLS. I got it from a local thift shop who does trades. I was able to trade a few thing I was going to sell a yard sale later and a mere $100 cash and walked away with a brand new XLS. It is awesome and so worth the upgrade. I can't wait to do a full work out on it. It's solid as a rock and smooth as silk. WOOHOO!

Good Morning!
I agree, keep at it, and you will see results. I love the way you can stretch out your back on it as well. I've never hurt myself on it the way I have running.

Oklabecca, I agree about not stressing the joints. I'm 5 Ft with my shoes on and most machine are too long for me, but I haven't noticed any joint stress at all with the TG.
Keep up the good work! Even if the scale doesn't move you're getting healthier by staying active. Sounds like you have enough external stress. Don't beat yourself up!

I lost .4 of a pound.

It's been a stressful week -- all my weeks will be stressful between now and the end of May as my job is going to go nuclear for a while -- and I went over my calorie range by a bit almost every day.

On the plus side, I:
didn't binge
didnt eat more than one helping of anything
got a lot of good exercise
survived another round with the dentist
tracked my food
tracked my workouts
got more sleep than I have been getting.

Not a perfect week, but not too shabby.

Rose, I've been using the Total Trainer (near cousin of the TG) for about 3 months now, and I agree completely. Before I bought the Trainer, I hemmed and hawed, debating between it, a Bowflex and a stacked weight machine by Body Solid. From everything I read, they are all good equipment, but I am soooooo glad I bought the Trainer!

It not only gives a good workout, it's fun and it doesn't stress your joints the way the other two would. I think that's important, since injuries are the exact opposite of what I'm trying to achieve, which is a healthier, stronger, more agile and more attractive body.

I just finished my 1st week of working out on the total gym. I LOVE it. It's a good work out, lot's of room for growth and easy to use and best of all I can do it at home. This is the first piece of equipment that I've ever got that actually works you out as advertised. I'm very impressed. I've had alot of different gadgets and work out equipment though out the years. Now the rest is up to me.
