I have more posts holes to dig today if the weather holds out!

Yesterday I spent nearly 3 hours mowing and getting the lawn 'set up' for the weekly fun of mowing.. I love to mow!

Thank you for clarifying that TFG is Total Gym.
I agree that it is an awesome machine!

I use it for doing Pilates. I never get bored because there are so many exercises to do.

Yes it was a little aggressive with 20# . I should have only used 10 lol. Knowing me as well as I do I wont take it off for tomorrows workout either. I threw my hat over the fence and now I have to get it.

The sun is out more now and the temp's are rising at least in the western USA.
I hope that means more members are outside exercising or just enjoying the warmth.
I well probable spent less time on this site and the computer now until it gets too hot, 100+

Yesterday, my son came over while I was on my TG, he read the exercises off my wall chart and helped me do a few new ones. He was a great trainer and showed me proper form and that really helped me get them right.
Working out alone is nice, but it was sure helpful to have someone there to direct how I did the exercises! I'm going to do some of the ones he showed me and think it will increase my strength and fitness. Thanks Chris!!

Thanks for the calorie counts for workouts. I've been doing the Todd Durkin videos and they are pretty intense. He does those oblique twists on your knees! They are a great for your core and back.

I belong to a Facebook page and most everyone on it uses a TG. I just find it easier to keep up with daily. It's called: What did you do for a workout and how did it go, and a guy named Greg keeps us motivated with tips and fun games. For example, we are playing battleship now and if you workout, you get to take a hit on the board. The goal is to workout 20 minutes a day and just keep moving. It's a fun group and very motivational- Come join us if you like!

A total gym workout qualifies as moderate to vigorous weight training. According to fitness resource website Nutristrategy, a 155 lb. person burns about 105 calories in a half-hour training session with mild exertion. A vigorous workout would burn 210 calories in 30 minutes. If the same person did a half-hour circuit with minimal rest between sets, the burn would increase to 280 calories.

Body Weight
How much you weigh drastically effects how many calories a given activity burns. A 205 lb. person working vigorously on the Total Gym would burn 250 calories in half an hour. A 130 lb. person would burn only 175.

This was exactly the Ab crunch I was trying to think of last night. I think getting that lower ab is most important cuz those muscles hold up your innurds (LOL...I hope that is the word) well guts then. I like to sit sideways and do the twist Ab exercise but will work this one in also.. Thanks for the reminder.

True for me too....I use my TG as much As I can remember to but don't check in here much...I'll try to more often.

Regarding the planks- that might have been me. If you have the ab crunch attachment, you can kneel on the board and extend your legs out for the crunch. If you go up on your toes and hold it in between crunches you really target the lower tummy. Warning: Don't do too many the first time as you will really feel it the next day.

I don't come on here that much but I do workout on the TG 5-6 days a week.

For the calorie use I went to the group builder in Fitness Tracking and put in what was close to all the exercises I do for a workout. I just guess at the weight, put in the reps, and call it good. Now, I just use that group I saved as "My TG workout", but now I need to make up a new one, since I've changed my routine up a little.

Does anyone how many calories are used when using the TG? I have just been guessing. Have only been using mine a couple of months now. I used it over the winter of 2010 and felt pretty good by spring then stopped using it for some reason. I have trouble with motivation. I was doing two sets but found myself only working out every third or fourth day. Change to one set and have worked out most days now. emoticon

Ha! That's funny, WillPower2.
I've been using my Total Gym, but that's one of the beautys of it-
- you don't have to use up so much time. emoticon
So we all should be able to squeeze in a few minutes to post a Hello or a comment.
I love my Total Gym! It's old, it's a cheapy, but it works great and it's easy and fun!!!
And, of course . . . Great Results!! emoticon
I'm just about down to my 20-something weight and I'm in my mid (okay, late) 50's.

Can't help you with the plank either, sorry. You say you do lots of the leg pulley ...does it get your butt muscles. That is what I would like to focus on.

Hi. I'm loving my Total Gym. Using it close to every day and I'm seeing great results! Anyway, I was reading some posts the other day and saw that someone like doing planks on her TG - I don't quite get that- I thought planks were a floor exercise where you held yourself up on toes&hands and held still. emoticon
I have the leg pulley attachment and that is working out well for me, it's an enjoyable way to exercise my legs pretty efficiently and quickly. I went to you tube and watched a bunch of exercises - (never did see the plank)

Vicki...Ooh...that does sound like a good stretch I'll have to reread and try to do this. I need to do some stretching. I'm pretty stiff from all the crawling around to get all my windows washed inside and out. I felt like a monkey crawling over my furniture. LOL. anyway that is done so back to some kind of routine... Oh my dear hsband got me 5 more 40 LB bags of top soil so I'll be doing a little weight lifting too. Maybe start the routine after the bags are dstributed. :)
