Yesterday I did 24 minutes on TG. Funny thing happened. While doing squats, I discovered a really good hip/thigh stretch. Place one foot on the opposite knee and let your leg fall to the side. If you hook your ankle on the knee of the leg that is squatting, you get an AWESOME stretch thru the hip and butt.

Today it I'll be doing abs and biceps mostly. Maybe some rowing too.

Anyone else working out today?

No I tried tracking it on SP and apparently they made it better but I was never back to track. I didn't like the wayit was set up. I use to do it at home on my own but in the end just didn't find benefit...mostly because I am not a person to look to the past. I suppose it could be beneficial. I just rotate my processes as much as I can to get a total work out. Wow...you did a lot and sounds like you have a really good plan. 30 lbs is awesome indeed! I find slow and steady weight loss the best plan anyway. I don't weigh myself hardly at all....my clothes seem to tell me the most.

I just finished my workout and I am out of breath! I did the squats- really deep ones, then slow ones, then the in and out ones you described, and then little pulses at the end. Thighs are burning! Then I did arm circles, triceps press and back and chest ex. Finished off with the crunches as that is where I need to tighten the most. I lost almost 30 lbs from October 2012 to January 2013 drinking green smoothies, cutting out sugar, white flour, soda and dairy and then my weight loss stalled. Getting back on track with TG because I want to feel STRONG! Started up with the exercise to help me loose at least another 30 pounds. You sound like you found a great plan. Going to look that one up after my shower.

Do you track your work out in the Spark tracker? Haven't figured out how to do that yet. Have a great workout!

48! you are just a pup! Yes it will give you muscle definition. I am almost 62...only telling you this.:) and If I can have arms that look toned and muscled you'll get it. I refuse to look old and staying in shape has knocked off 20 years for me. I also do the 5:2 fast plan which I found out on PBS Mike Mosely. Never lost weight in my life but dropped to my High school weight and feel better than I ever did so that has contributed too. On the trampoline...I was so disappointed that it didn't work for me...Just too much compression on my lower back (my worst nemesis)...can't knock 20 years off that one) so I gave it to my daughter. But there is a group on here and they swear by it. So check it out, most definitely. And the squeak, I hope you can get rid of it, I hadd a 1000 and that is what was happening to mine so I looked on Craigslist and found the XLS for 200.00 with all the attachments and gave the 1000 to a friend. She loves it. I think it was the wheels that were wearing that made the noise. The XLS is totally quiet...but mosetly cuz they had hardly used it. Some day I expect it will get noisy whells too. OK...for me SLOW squats and Abs workout!

I forgot about the calf stretch- that is a really good one to do. I don't have the tramp attachment and I have done a slight jog, but my TG squeaks a bit and this action makes it worse. I actually like doing the squats slowly as I think the controlled movement is more effective. It's funny though, that you mention the trampoline as I have been recently been looking at the urban rebounder. Easy on the joints is key! I should really look into why my glide board squeaks. If I could fix that, I could use the TG for everything.

Glad you were inspired to workout. You are keeping me going too! I'm trying to workout daily and joining you for a chat each day is really keeping my on track too.

I am turning 48 in 6 weeks and I want to see some muscle and definition on my arms and abs by then. I think the TG can get me there.

Off to try out that jumping! :)

yup the Kneeling on the board...I've seen that one too. I do the squats with the knees pointing out and pointing in. It really does target different muscles. I also do the calf stretches on the toes. feels good.

Have you ever jumped...gone airborn on it....if you know what I'm saying? You have to be careful with control which is good for the muscles anyway...you just don't want to bang up or bang down...too jarring. But it is almost like a trampoline and people say the tramp is one of the best things for the body. Because of you I did get on and do some reps though...thanks for the inspiration. :)

Last night I did another 20 minutes on TG. Mostly arm work and crunches/plank. This morning I went for a bike ride and my legs felt like jello! So I did about 18 minutes on TG working biceps, back, chest mostly. It's amazing how such a small amount of time on this equipment really gives me powerful results.

LOREO51 - what does your leg work consist of? I only do squats and I'm looking for some ideas. I saw a video with someone doing a leg press while kneeling on the glide board. May give that one a try.

Yeah! Lets keep the chat going. Did you work out on the TG today? I started this morning but only did 10 minutes before getting interrupted. Going back tonight when everyone is out of the house to get in squats, shoulders, biceps and core. Shoot for 30 minutes.

I'm here! I tried to reactivate with some chat earlier... so if you all come back...I'm here. I love my TG so much I upgraded. I have it permanently set up so I have no excuses. Some days I just disconnect the cable and jump off the lower foot deally. It is almost like flying and so much better on my back than jumping off the no give floor! Jumping is good for the bones!

I too which there was more activity in this group. It just takes a few to get the conversation started. I'm in!! Today I'm going to clear all the stuff off my TG and do a work out. I feel so much better when I use it, but I was cleaning the room it was in and boxes got stacked on top of the glide board. Not such a good idea. Starting fresh for August and plan on 20 -30 minutes a day.

My question to everyone: Do you follow some routine on the TG? Love to hear what everyone is doing for a workout.

Sad that no one has made any comments in the last 4 months!
Exercise time is more important than this web page, but come on say something.

The one team leader is probably frustrated about the low activity level on this page.

On my TotalGym most every day for Aerobics, Strength, Stretching. Also walk a little most days, sta-bike, hit heavy bag, free weights, lift heavy rocks. I switch around, but always back to the totalgym, esp if I need to do a little active recovery.

Just installed this total gym today.
This kicked my butt.
And I thought I was in good shape!!!
I run a 5k thru the neighborhood usually 3-5 days a week.
In bad weather and cold I do Leslie WATP.
This made me feel like I was totally out of shape.
I started on level 3 because that is where DH put it not reading instructions....
I had to back it down to level 2 and still OMG.
WOW.
I look forward to doing this thing.....

Wooflie, great job!!
When I got my Total Gym even though I had exercised before it seemed like alot to me. I looked at the pictures in the book and watched youtube demonstrations. I started doing a few exercises per workout and just added 1 per workout to try. If I liked it, I kept doing it and if I didn't like that exercise (or if it felt wrong, hurt ect) I don't do it.
Now I have a nice little routine that takes me about an hour to an hour and a half. I figure come Christmas and I will need to make up a new routine though to keep it interesting.

I am happy to report that I have used (in the loosest sense of the word) my total gym for the last 3 days. I am feeling it and have only done the basic two exercises and some cardio. I love to "walk " and "jump"..something I can't do with my total weight on my feet..I guess I would call it half walking..I love it. For the first time I can get my blood flowing..hopefully I'll figure out how to do a full beginner routine soon...

Sunday! Before Football I did Total Trainer workout Split day (B) 3sets, 9 move workout and 20min of Elliptical. Only thing I don't like about about the TT is the time it takes to do workouts takes about 1.5 hours then there 20min elliptical. So by the time your done you got 2 hours gone out of 24 haha does not sound to bad but its always the prime hours of my day. What kind of time do you all spend, what time of the day is your workouts and what's you workout?

Did my TG workout tonight.
Usually between a "set" I just rest for 30 or more seconds before doing the next set. Well, I just did a set of squats at level 4 (level 4 is the highest my Tg seems to go?) and I am getting bored of doing nothing...so I grabbed the bars on the tower of the tg (you know where the handles attach and where it attaches to the tower there is little t with the bars) so I grabbed those, laying on my back in level 4 and I just decided to litterally hang there and did some reverse crunches. Maybe 10 of them.
Then I did my squats again and time to rest my muscles again...I tried to do 10 more crunches but couldn't do more than 5! I really felt it too! I bet I was working my upper body too cause I was holding myself up on the glideboard with my arms...so I was working both my upper body and core in one move. The only thing...I'd not do it at level 4 if I do that exercise again! Maybe level 2 and work my way up
Very different though! emoticon

Don't get discouraged, Suzi!
When I started out I was 280 pounds trying to follow Leslie Sansone walk 1 mile in her dvds. Wow, that was tough! I barely made it, and just decided to march in place at my own pace with her. Several Weeks later I did her two mile walk and just kept adding. If I got too comfortable with it, I moved onto the next most difficult mile until I was able to complete her 5 mile walk.
Just continue with it. Go at your own pace. You might try a level of the machine with one exercise and think, wow this is not going to work. That is ok, just lower the level!
You can do this!!

Well I realize how out of shape I am. I have no flexibility at all. The beginner workout kicked my butt and took forever as I grunted and groaned trying to get into position. I may never move up a level or pop in another type of DVD. I am determined to get in shape but it may take a long time. Wish me luck. emoticon
