Welcome White-Green to this thread! I notice a few others have visited it too.

This is very first post explaining the idea:

This thread is for logging and reporting 4 Day Wins. "The 4 Day Win" is a practice from the book by Martha Beck.The main idea is that a goal that is practiced and sustained for just 4 days is very likely to perturb the inertia we get into with bad habits and push us forward.

I, for one, love the idea of just 4 days at a time and use it to explore all sorts of new habits.

To create a 4 day win:
* Choose a goal and then simplify it by half. Simplify again. You want something that is ridiculously easy. (This step is very important. My 4 day wins are a little harder now, but I had to start with really easy ones.)
* Identify a daily reward and then a bigger 4 day reward. Rewards can be anything that give you a little pleasure. 4 day reward is just a little bigger to recognize the accomplishment. I use rewards like soap bubbles (!), daily origami or kirigami, bubble bath, foot massage, popping bubblewrap, and so on. (It is a mind game to some degree.)
*Report daily on your progress!

Goal: feel better and rested and fit.

1. start preparing at 10 PM to go to bed; walk dog, brush teeth

2. Be in bed before 11 PM

3. set a timer to start preparing to go to bed in the morning.

4. to actually START preparing to go to bed when the timer goes off.

5. to take a 20 minute nap in the afternoon most days.

Goal: To become physically stronger and flexible, to prevent injuries and complaints, to be fit

6. to do a few minutes of yoga and/or strength exercises on workdays.

Current 4 day wins (habit changing method from Martha Beck - The Four Day Win):

General working on low-carb, resistance training, aerobics, 14-15 hour fasting.

"4 times Treadmill, 5-10 minutes 3x, 10-20 minutes 1x, 20-60 min . Can substitute a walk around the neighborhood or lake or with DH. Daily reward is to get a cute emoticon here and a sticker and watch a cute Youtube video. (184)!
4/27 - 20 min emoticon

"Stationary bike 4 times -- 5-10 minutes 3x, 10-15 min 1x" Daily reward is to get a cute emoticon here and a sticker. (179)

"NordicTrack skier 4 times -- 1 minute 1x, 2-3 minutes 2x, 4-5 minutes 1x" Daily reward is to get a cute emoticon here and a sticker. (575)

"4 times to YMCA over the days (4/28 - 5/5) . Doesn't matter when or what I do, but if I physically get there 4 times I'll get my reward." Reward for each time is to get a cute emoticon here and a sticker. (437)

"5 Quickfire exercises or YMCA resistance 4 times, plus stability ball for back for 4 days" Daily reward is to get a cute emoticon here and a sticker. (441)!
