Oh, yes, I still deal with nighttime cravings. Nighttime signals to me "the day is done" and I often want a reward! I am finding that if I'm really hungry I will have something to eat (apple with a teaspoon of peanut butter, a dozen almonds,or maybe a yogurt...) but if it's after 7:30 then I tell myself it's too late to eat. If I eat later than that I honestly can't lose weight. I have a cup of hot tea or a 20 calorie hot cocoa in a pretty cup with saucer, and then I brush my teeth. It almost always helps.
I agree with the others, trying to figure out the emotion behind the eating episode is what is most important. A great book is called Shrink Yourself by Dr. Roger Gould. I think you will find it very helpful.

HALT has always been my favorite .. sometimes we don't get enough calories in throughout the day, thus are legitimately hungry .. other times it may be due to the info. in the following article ..

Night time is my worst!!!! If I am stressed, lonley, bored, whatever it may be I want to binge. I try to find things to do to keep me busy and out of the kitchen(this is not the time to clean in the kitchen). Laundry, dusting, vaccuuming, take the kids to the park, anything that keeps you busy and out of the house is better. If all it is is needing to perform the action of shoveling it in, I pop some popcorn. It's few calories and I am satisfied.

Really figure out why you are wanting to binge. That is the source of the problem. The food is just how your dealing and that is what needs to be fixed. Get to the source and then figure out a healthy way to take care of the emotion.

these last two nights i have had huge snack attacks after dinner. they involved peanut butter, jelly, bread and cereal!! i have no idea why?! maybe im stressed over school...even if its only been in session a week. maybe its self sabotage- me denying myself to hit the 10lb mark next week and in turn denying happiness. i dont know!!

who here has dealt with night time cravings and what do you do?
