Welcome to the Barbershop Buddies Spark Team! There are currently only a few active team members, but I am hoping that will improve if we get some conversations going. I have been on SP for close to 5 years, but on and off. Life happens...

If you have any questions feelo free to ask, whether about SP or BBS. I have been a BBS'er for over 30 years and sang with 3 choruses and more quartets. I have worked in various capacities in the chapters and the Seneca Land District. currently I am unable to sing, but stay active as the District Webmaster ( www.sencaland.org , and others)

Yours in Harmony,
Bob

I'm Laura, I sing Lead with Verdugo Hills Chorus in Glendale, CA. I've been involved since 2009 - I wish I had joined earlier! My dad is a Barbershopper as well, singing with Gaslight Chorus in Brea, CA, and he always pushed me to go find a Sweet Adeline chorus. Well, I did, and never looked back!

I serve on the Management Team and Music Staff, the choreo team, and am a co-section leader...*whew*.

I love the harmony, both personal and musical, that I found in the barbershop world. In order to get better at singing, I know I need to get healthier/lose weight, so here I am in Spark People land.

I tend to be a private person, so opening up on these message boards may prove difficult for me. It sure would be nice to see more activity so I don't feel like I'm talking to a wall!

Start at the edge...meet me at the tag.

Thanks for your posts! I agree with BBSHOPMOM that you couldn't find a better group of people to associate with than barbershoppers

I'm Kim, I live in Columbus, Ohio and have been barbershopping since 1986 (with a two year layoff when I had my first marriage and kid). I was back and involved by the time she was two and remarried to a man who appreciated my desire to be involved in the hobby ... another barbershopper! We have had a son and I'm proud to say that my son sings in my husband's chorus and my daughter sings with me!!

I sing in Scioto Valley Chorus and my husband directs The Alliance Chorus (and also sings in a quartet called The Allies). We are truly a barbershop family and we wouldn't have it any other way.

The best thing about barbershop for me is the fact that it is indeed an extended family. I worked for a local chorus, planning a large annual event, and from the age of two my daughter has been going to rehearsals with me, both mine and the men's groups I've been involved with. The kids have grown up with barbershop and now have countless "aunts, uncles, grandparents, sisters, and brothers" all over the country and world. It has been a blessing to be able to raise my kids around such awesome people!!

I can't imagine a life without barbershop!

I've been singing barbershop since around 1978, with a 10 year layout, which I regret. Just went on Associate membership with RichTones, which I joined in 2000. Miss singing a LOT, but I have other things that I want to do for a while.

If you live in the Dallas area, the RT show on August 24 will be a good one, with Streeter Corner Symphony as our guest singers. They were runners up in the 2nd season acapella contest SingOff.

I will be there!

As I mentioned in my email, my name is Bob and I live in western NY. I have been a barbershopper over 30 years and have sung in choruses from 3 area chapters, and several quartets; the most recent being the Four Counts. Due to medical issues I have not been active in singing for a few years, but have been keeping myself engaged by being Webmaster for the Senecaland District of the BHS.

Please post a reply and let me know a bit about your involvment in barbershop and answer the following question:

What do you enjoy most about being a barbershopper?

My answer is: I love all the friends I have met over the years. Barbershoppers are the greatest group of people in the world!

Yours in Harmony,
Bob
