Oh, how I used to enjoy a milkshake. That's one of the great things about being lactose intolerant. I can't be tempted any longer.

No longer do I rush the process; instead I embrace and enjoy it!

I will still eat the french fries, but being lactose intolerant, I discontinued them years ago.

Ah - I remember the days of eating French fries and milk shakes! Long gone . . . but a fond remembrance!

I've rarely had a problem-this area is pretty accommodating these days...I remember as a
teenager going out with friends & they would go to a fast food place-the only thing I could
could eat was french fries! Drink wise,I usually ask for water with lemon...or tea,or a coke.
I'm not too strict that way!

Wow, I'm surprised that they didn't have tea. I always order water as Memphis has some of the best water. Sometimes I have to pick a lot of stuff out of my salad, but I've never heard of fried cheese. I've never had anyone put bacon in it though.

Most places do have salads, and that is what I have been ordering. Most places also put BACON on everything! I ask for the bacon to be left off, and sometimes they refuse and I have to order something else.
This place had two salads, one had bacon and boiled egg, the other had walnuts and goat cheese. I went for the goat cheese one because then I wouldn't have to ask for the bacon to be left off (it was their opening night and I didn't want to complicate things too much) and then the cheese was fried. Oh well . . .
They also didn't have iced tea - my go to drink for in town. I have well water at home and the "city water" makes me nauseated. So I ordered diet coke, which I love, but try to avoid most of the time.

I look for the menu online, otherwise I'm prepared to order a salad. Everyone almost always has a salad, if not, we are going to have to find a different restaurant or I won't go if it is a social outing. . If it is a meeting and I must attend, I will just order water and eat before or after I've been in the meeting kind of situation numerous times and I find that I am not the only one not eating.

A new Irish Pub opened in our town, and my husband is a HUGE fan of Irish pubs! The music, the Guinness on tap, the "crac" (which is the Irish word for happy banter).
So, we checked out the menu online and saw two salads and a vegetarian shepherds pie amongst the usual pub fare and headed there for dinner last night. Hubby ordered the shepherds pie and I ordered the apples, walnuts and goat cheese on "mixed baby greens." The goat cheese was fried! Who would have though to fry goat cheese?

What are your strategies for eating out? Other than checking the menu ahead online I am not too good at it!
