Hi Lamplighter & Yobethie,

I'm praying for a good weekend and upcoming week for both of you. Pain can be a terrible thing. It adds to discouragement, for sure, but eating well always wins in the end. I went "off the wagon" and ate some cheese about a month ago and after the fourth time, went back to my vegan ways. For me, I find that I eat better quality food when I go the vegan route and now that I'm in my 50's, it doesn't seem to take much to feel bad. Thanks for listening about the meat thing. I just get tired, sometimes, about having to make others feel comfortable about my food choices.

First of all - Welcome Braid1!
I also hate when Christians seem threatened by my being a vegetarian. And sometimes it seems that I am not as integrated into a body of believers because I don't join in their meat-fests. It just seems to be the way alot of Christians celebrate.
Lamplighter - my sister had the same treatment you did for thyroid cancer, and it took a while for her to get back to normal. Be kind to your body and it will come! I am praying for you every day.

I have found myself in the same position, where it seems people are "threatened" by my choice to eat vegan. Like you, I don't push it on anyone. I *WISH* I could get my family to eat this way but they refuse, so I cook all kinds of things. I am not a militant vegan, I don't do it for the animals' sake. I started eating this way to get rid of pain.

I have to be honest and say that I am struggling with it right now. When I first went vegan, all of my pain and disease disappeared. My cholesterol is perfect, blood pressure is great, I am sleeping, and have had no pain at all (fibromyalgia) - UNTIL I had the radioactive iodine treatment for the thyroid cancer. The fibromyalgia symptoms have been screaming at me, and it makes me feel like giving up. I suppose it could be a spiritual attack, but I will be honest and say my resolve is weak. I don't like this struggle I am facing now, after 2.5 years of eating this way! I watch my family eat whatever they want, and they don't hurt like I do. Prayers would be appreciated...

Hello. I tried SP last year then gave up. I just came back and am trying again. I used to be vegetarian but switched to a vegan diet and am loving it. I haven't lost weight because of the switch but I'm working on it. I'm a Christian and often am told (sadly) all about how God says it's OK to eat meat. I don't like that a number of Christians are threatened by the fact that I want to eat this way. I have never pushed my lifestyle on anyone. Even my meat eating husband finds others' attitudes about my vegan ways insulting. I'm very blessed to have him!
