Keeping the pain from arthritis down is my main motivator for exercise. And I want to be able to try to keep up with my grandson! Being able to get down on the floor and back up again is nice.

My only motivator at this point is long life: I want to be here for my kids and grandkids. I want to be healthy.
I have GOT to get active. This past couple of months has been just plain weird, and I need to shake them off. Going to start walking again with my kids today (HOLD OFF, RAIN!!!) and I like to dance. I have got to find instructions on syncing my WiiFit board with the Wii so I can use that as a tool with my kids. My doctor actually recommended it for balance and conditioning. Thought that was cool! Unfortunately, I lost the booklet when I moved...

I mix up my routine a LOT! In a normal week, I may do: yoga, spinning, walking, running, hiking, tai chi, water aerobics, laps in the pool, Zumba, and hooping (hula hoop). Walking and yoga are included in every week, but the rest is thrown in when my schedule allows. I love variety!

As far as motivators go...
1. I'm a bit of an insomniac, but I've found that exercise ensures a good night's sleep. This is HUGE motivation for me.
2. I've found that plenty of exercise throughout the month keeps my cramps under control. At one point, I was taking up to 8 Advil a day during my period! Now... I may take one or two and that's it!
3. I really like that people have noticed my shrinking waist-line and compliment me :) Vanity is a good motivator!
4. I've been "blessed" with the high cholesterol gene that runs in my family. Healthy eating and plenty of exercise have dropped my numbers. In fact, when I went completely vegan for four months, it dropped 50 points!
5. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm competitive. So signing up for races (5k, 10k, etc) keeps me motivated to get off my butt and workout. I never "place" in my age group, but I usually run with a friend and I don't like to be the one having to slow down for walk breaks.
6. With my recent weight loss I've noticed I can get into yoga poses I used to have a hard time with. Just a few months ago, I couldn't sit comfortably in child's pose and still breathe (breathing is important in yoga :)

So this was a long-winded way of saying I have LOTS of motivators!

As we go through it day by day-what motivates you to keep going? Do you mix up your
fitness routines?
I want to become healthier and stronger-hey, if I'm honest,I'd like to look better too.Losing
weight has made life easier-I am more physically able to do things. The best thing was when
my son first said wow Mom-you've really lost weight-you look good(coming from my son
who "remade"his own body into pure muscle-it was so great)! Motivators, anyone?
