Definitely cooked/canned. They would require a much longer cooking time if they were dry/raw. This is the recipe I started with viveleveganrecipes.blogspot.com/2007

Do you roast them raw or already cooked (like from a can)?

SWIMLOVER reminded me of a great snack I haven't made in a long time. You can roast chickpeas/garbanzos in the oven and they come out yummy! Flavor them with whatever you like... I use tamari (soy sauce) and a little coconut oil and salt, but you can use any spices or herbs. Mmmmm... I think I'll make some tonight.

I have found alot of nut butters in my grocery store - sunbutter is my favorite, but there is almond butter as well. I love peanut butter but I tend to lose self control around it :)
Anyway, they are of course good on a rice cake, but also very good in a celery rib. And the celery kind of limits how much you eat, which is good because just a little makes a serving.

Nuts like almonds, walnuts etc. are healthy snacks. They will not shoot up blood sugars.
Hummus with raw veggies is another good, healthy snack. Chick peas is another healthy snack. You can have them alone or with rice crackers.

Ok, I need healthy snack ideas--they can be vegan or vegetarian, since I am limiting my eggs and cheese to once or twice a week. I am a diabetic, so healthy things that aren't going to shoot up my blood sugars would be really helpful.

On a personal note, I haven't been to fast food all week!!!
