Glad you had a good time! And congrats on not gaining any weight! That's hard to do when traveling :)

Mmmm... cheese. It's my downfall. It's an addiction! How about if I tag along with you, and I'll eat half of all your portions thereby ensuring you don't eat too much? I can't remember the last time I had quiche!

My son was raised a vegetarian, but didn't stay with it once he left home. (I am grateful he stayed a Christian!) His wife thinks of vegetarians the way others might think of Martians.
Yesterday he called me and told me that she has all the meals cooked already! She is a planner! I actually love vacationing with them because I can relax and let her do all the planning - she should have been a cruise director.
So when people don't know what to cook for vegetarians they tend to make alot of CHEESE. I love cheese (as does my husband) but it seems to pack the fat on me. And yes, the food that she has cooked is spinach (cheese) bake and quiche.
So please pray for me that I can take small portions and not just inhale the yummy cheesey salty fatty goodness.

I always take a big variety of snacks for the road, since you never know what you're going to feel like eating. Trail mix, Larabars, dried fruit, nuts, pretzels, granola bars, etc.

Are you comfortable enough with your son and family to talk to them about your dietary choices? They're probably not vegetarian, are they? That does make things challenging. Can you offer to cook one meal a day, thereby ensuring that you get at least one healthful, low-cal meal a day? I usually go to the store as soon as I get to my parents' house, and buy lots of fresh fruit and salad fixings. I know as long as I have a salad first, I won't be too tempted by all the unhealthy food on the table.

Good luck! I know how difficult visits like this can be!

I am going to be traveling this upcoming weekend to see my son and his family. Any ideas on how to keep in the calorie range when traveling? Especially when you are visiting somone who is cooking for you!
