One thing I'm doing that came to me yesterday-I am going to bombard my son with prayer -
putting him on prayer lists all over-taking action-giving the battle fully over to the Lord.

Ah - maybe spring will lift your mood?
Work stress is so awful - I had to leave my last job and it was at a church! It was so bad I couldn't think of anything else all day and all night. I hope your situation becomes more encouraging soon. Will pray for you and your son!

Sometimes!
We send him out at night to get out "outdoor" cat, and sometimes he is able to get him in. When he doesn't he looks so ashamed it is funny! My husband has to tell him it okay before he will come in without the cat.
Our indoor cats like to snuggle with him, and they humor him sometimes when it comes to herding. My grandson has gotten tired of being herded, which is very frustrating for the dog.

I have two cats that were born at our old church before we moved. But I got my dog from a Border Collie rescue organization. He tries to herd the cats!

I named him Moses because his mother had him at a church, she hid her puppies under a log
and covered them with mud to keep them safe-like the story!

Moses is a great name for a dog! I had a Keeshound mix that was very sweet like that - when another dog attacked him he waited to be rescued. Usually he had so much hair it didn't hurt him, but when one got his nose it took antibiotics to get better.
I don't think Doxies are very forgiving dogs - my mom had one and she would bite any other dog that came near her. And several humans too!

Glad you are feeling better! Did you have fun? We worked Fri.,but I've got today off & my sweet
dog let me sleep in-aahhhh! Moses is a fairly large dog and I took him with me to my parents
house(they have 2 doxies & we were hoping to get them to be friends-they've met before-not
good). The problem is the doxies were attacked by a large dog-1 badly. It's been a long time &
Moses is gentle-we've been trying a slow approach...it would be so nice if they could accept
him.At any rate,we had him on the back deck & they were supposed to be inside-but they came out a dog door we thought was locked-Moses is such a sweetie-the little dogs attacked
him in team & he just stood there while I got them off-like he knew how bad he could hurt them
& was just waiting patiently for help.So proud of him! (he didn't get hurt).

I got back from my trip and immediately got sick - but I am back and getting healthier!
Eating on the trip was really hard - me and restarant food just don't do well. I gained a few pounds, but hope to get them off quickly.
At then end of April we are taking the whole family to Disney. I hope they have better food choices!

Hope work all pans out for you Linda.

Day 14....doing just fine. PTL.
We are mostly quiet here over Easter. Planning to visit a local church on Sunday morning and invited to eat at DDs later that day. Sounds like my sil may visit on Monday, but we shall see if she does.

Be blessed this w/e everyone.

Not feeling to bright today....throat thing, hope it passes quickly. But what a food eating test! When my husband is in charge of the kitchen it can be a challenge for me. I had a banana & yogurt for breakfast but after a while was still feeling hungry so instead of snacking I had some more of the same. So day 5 I feel is a victory!

You keep sewing...practice makes perfect, they say.

Linda you probably have another talent that I just couldn't begin to tackle....yes?

This is my first sewing reatreat, so we will see how it goes. From the other people's blogs and flicker pages I am feeling very under-talented! but the point is to learn, right?
I mostly sew clothes for my grandchildren, and they don't know it isn't perfect.

I've had an exceptionally bad time of eating too...hence this new start...day 4.

Oh a sewing retreat, how lovely. I'm a dressmaker and still do some when the need arises.
Looking forward to hearing all about it and how you coped with the food side too.

Not feeling too bright today. I began some glucosamine for joints again, my second attempt but I don't think this supp is for me. I started them as a precaution for knee. I did something to it at Christmas, thought to be a cartilage problem. I had an MRI on Saturday so will get those results in a week or so.

My whole weekend went by before I realized I didn't exercise at all! Today I am watching the grandsons, so I am sure I will get some in. I am going on a sewing retreat (first one!) this Wednesday through Sunday. I am kind of nervous as one of the main activities, besides sewing of course, seems to be eating.

today is my son's 29th-I asked him how it felt to be 29? he said he's already crankier and less
able to tolerate stupid! Seriously,he is a wonderful son and a great blessing to me...

Hi everyone! Let me start out by saying God Bless and what a beautiful day!!! lol, now, to introduce myself... My name is Nikki and I live in Idaho. I'm 35 years old with a wonderful husband and three gorgeous children (16, 14 and 10). I just joined SparkPeople and am really liking the community. I am currently 279 lbs with a long way to go to hit my goal weight of 160. I actually started a vegan diet about a month ago and have since lost 17 lbs!!! ( I started at 296). I chose vegan because there is some very compelling evidence that choosing a whole foods, animal-free diet can optomize physical health and even reverse the adverse effects of many illnesses and diseases. I also believe whole-heartedly that God would prefer this vessel of mine to be as healthy as possible!! So far I've had great success with this lifestyle. I even started walking again and have worked up to 2 miles with a 20 min. split!! I would love to swap recipes and food and exercise tips. Hope to hear from you all soon. :D

That does sound scary - will say a prayer for her. We had a nice day for my mom's birthday and discovered a new place with non-fat yogurt. This is sort of new here on the east coast - places with soft serve frozen yogurt and then lots of toppings. There is fruit of course, and then tons of candy, whipped cream and nuts and all kinds of syrup. So I got non fat yogurt and fruit, which is what my mom got as well, and my dad got non-fat yogurt and then hot fudge and fresh baked cookies and who knows what else in there!

Happy Birthday to her! I'm worried about my mom-she told me her hand was giving her trouble,
but it's as if it's drawn up & her fingers have contorted off to the side and her feet were so swollen she couldn't wear any of her shoes-really kinda scared me(she is seeing doctors)-
please say a prayer. By the way,my stepdad looked great.

Yay for a healthy 91!
My mom is 77 tomorrow, and she is also quite healthy. She had a heart attack about five years ago but suffered no damage and recovered well. I am taking her out for japanese food.

I went to a new restarant last night whose veggie burger was a Beet Burger. It was odd! But different. I like when places make their own veggie burger instead of using a morningstar or something. Has anyone else ever had a uniuqe one?

I have not gotten my "mojo" back since the holidays - somehow self control is just out of my grasp. Which is odd, since it is a fruit of the spirit. One shouldn't have to strain to have fruit!

I don't know that the water zumba gives that much in the way of actual exercise but it is fun!
Just hope they will have the water a little warmer here!

Water Zumba sounds great - we have Zumba classes (which I have never taken) and water aerobics, but I have never heard of the two together. We don't have a sauna. It was only 18 degrees when I went to the gym yesterday, but the pool was nice and warm!

after! Went to another Y last week that was awesome-lots of great new classes!

Hi Everyone! I just rejoined this Team today. I am planning on staying this time!

YOBETHIE, I am glad you were able to get new glasses. I have to but I don't have insurance so I have to save up for them. I bet new glasses make the world look good as you said!

I have been off and on in eating vegetarian also but now I intent to stay vegetarian.

There really is not much happening today. It has been cold for Arizona not cold compared to the rest of the country for certainly cold for this part of Arizona.

Well, everyone, please have a Great Wednesday!

GOD BLESS!
Louise

I got my first bifocals this year, and I can't walk in them as it makes me dizzy. So I am always taking them off and on. I was lucky that our insurance paid for them - $400.

having plumbing issues-aaaaaggggghhhh! Something good-I won a Gift certificate from JCP
-used it towards new glasses! It's been a long time(I'm lucky that I don't have to wear them all the time-but still need to drive or go to movies). My old glasses never seemed right-anyway,
I'm excited! Get them in 2(?) weeks!

We seemed to have gotten our last present epidsode over last night. Still new years calories to contend with. I am tired of the constant use (or not) of self control. It doesn't seem to get stronger with use - more like a string that gets worn down. I know it is a fruit of the spirit, but it doesn't seem to grow natural for me!

Stuffed Tofu is an old-time PETA "recipe" -
You take 4 or five pounds of firm tofu and crumble it into a colander.
Then you put a plate over it and put a weight on it for a day, so it presses down into a dome shape.
You make stuffing (my family likes pepperidge farm) and hollow out the dome and "stuff" it - covering back up with the removed tofu.
Here is the bad part - you mix equal parts soy sauce and olive oil and pour it over, and then baste it while you bake the thing for a couple hours. It comes out salty and crispy and yummy - and full of sodium and fat. The thing is that this is what my children grew up with so they insist on having it every thanksgiving. I have tried stuffing acorn squash or something else but this is what they want. So I just have a little and eat lots of sides :)

THAT sounds interesting-recipe?
I went to my cousins-lots of family there-had a great time! They had 2 turkeys-but plenty of
sides for me-my favorite has always been creamed onions, but this year she made the most
amazing beets(I know,right?-Beets? but they were awesome!)lots & lots of good stuff to eat!
Yesterday after "black Friday" shopping -I hit the gym hard! Sore, but I'll do it again today!

My car is a 1975 and my house was built before 1900 - they are both pretty old!
I am old too . . . but not that old!

My original group of chickens are starting to die. My idea was to have chickens so I could have eggs from chickens that I knew were treated well, and let them die of natural causes. It is working, but it is still sad when they go. They are bird-brains, but I love them :)

Philly was hit pretty hard by the storm! I went to church with my son and they were talking about how much people helped each other - sharing showers, bringing hot meals, sharing generators. Some people were still without power on Sunday!

I'm feeling grateful this morning-so far-nothing too bad here with the storm. Left work early
because no power-no power at home until about 7PM-but then back on-feel so grateful!

I don't think I would get rid of my cats if I was allergic either. The cats are actually my husband's - I am the dog person of the family.
We are considering getting goats, but it is a big decision! They take a lot of care and are more fragile than one might think. But it would be nice to be able to get milk from an animal that I know is well loved and well treated.

I'm not fond of Optometrist' either. Sorry about the cat allergy. I have a friend with two cats that found out that she has allergies and won't get rid of them even though she suffers sometimes.

I love cats,but can't have another-had one for 18yrs,but found out after 2 that I'm very allergic-
if I got a hair in my eyes-the entire white would swell like a balloon! Apparently,it's a very rare
condition.Found that out yesterday-had an eye exam. Haven't seen an Opthalmologist in yrs
(my Optometrist retired & I did not like the guy who took his place-sounds like he wasn't as
good as he thought)Anyway,I thought this guy was awesome! Renewed my faith!

I have been walking my dog quite a bit too!
My cat always wants to come with us, but he won't leave our property. I have no idea how he knows what the borders are. But he stands at the edge and waits for us to come back!

Not too much-with the days getting shorter & work hours have been long-seems like I'm
just not as motivated (try to make sure that my dog gets his daily walk ).Did manage a
quick exercise dvd this morning & hoping it works out so I can start working out more! Got
to get back in the healthy zone!

Hi, sweet friends...
Just wanted to let you know that I will probably unsub from this team. You all are wonderful. Unfortunately with all that we are up against right now, I do not even have the money to eat vegetarian. I am the only one in the house who chooses to eat that way, and most of them won't eat most of the stuff I like. I just can't afford to keep going both ways with the groceries... So I will do my best to eat as much as I can but am not going to starve myself anymore. You know the kids will get their food first priority! I will probably be unsubbing from spark altogether since diet is much lower on my list of priorities than it was a few months ago...
My son goes for his MRI on Monday. At that point they will decide the treatment plan. The radiation doctors all want him to have surgery before starting radiation. We have had to go from doctor to doctor to doctor for second, third opinions and to get a cohesive care team for his treatment. It's been hectic... And it seems so weird to be doing this since I really believe God is healing him... but I do it because it is wisdom and right.
ANYWAY... Take care you all, and God bless you richly

I have tried that - pretty good! Although I think I like regular hummus better.
I like raw shelled Edamame on my salads. Although they have a surprising amount of fat for a little green bean!
