Thanks - good to know someone else feels the same way.

I tell people that my doctor says I am healthier than ever before so obviously I am getting my nutrition.

But most importantly I tell them That my heart can NOT bear to eat ANYONE with a face, feelings, heart, soul or family. That yes I loved meat for years until I realized how they are treated before being slaughtered and then on top of it they have to die (often NOT a quick painless death) all for the selfishness of MY tastebuds, no thanks. I respect everyone's choices to do as they feel is best but FOR me I can't live with my conscience if I were to eat meat.

I am not a vegan but for example when I buy eggs I only buy the more expensive ones from range free cage free hens.

I've been getting alot of "teasing" about being a vegetarian at my church recently - it gets so tiring. Sometimes I feel like I am the only Christian Vegetarian!

Sometimes people don't know how good a vegan lifestyle can be--and tasty! I think some people are honestly curious how we survive meatless in a meat-oriented world. Others feel guilty that they consume meat and want to badger you simply so that they can 'win' the argument and justify their behavior to alleviate the guilt. The folks who are honestly curious--well, that's an opportunity to educate them on the health benefits of a cruelty-free lifestyle and the Christian benefits of living in tune with God's plan for peace among His kingdom. The ones who simply want to justify their own guilt--those aren't worth getting into an argument about. And you can usually TELL which group your questioner falls into. If they are aggressive in questioning you, then take the moral high ground and walk away.

I found what helps to enlighten people is when there is any kind of function involving food, I make sure to bring some of the my tastiest vegan recipes to the table--and don't tell them ahead of time it's 'vegan'. I wait for the compliments to roll in, and then let them in on the secret that it was made vegan. That usually shocks people with how tasty vegan food can be! And that opens more eyes than any amount of arguing.

It's been a couple of years since my wedding, but my guests are still raving about the delicious vegan chocolate cake served at my reception. I usually host holiday dinners for the extended family at my house, and I only serve vegan, despite the fact that most of my family is NOT vegan. They cannot believe how delicious the food is, and how satisfying. Nobody walks away hungry. Hence the reason so many of us need to lose weight! LOL.

I have also served a vegan 'beef burgundy' at Thanksgiving when the others were eating the traditional turkey. I noticed that nobody was asking for seconds on the turkey, but everyone was clamoring for more of the 'beef' burgundy. And I never let on that it was vegan! At least not till some time later.

We're here to support you. If you need help with any recipes to show off how delicious vegan food is, and not some disgusting, unrecognizable, exotic blob of food, just let me know. I'd love to help others convert to this cruelty-free lifestyle. I really feel that I am walking the talk about being in sync with God's desires for pro-life.

Well last night at WM bible study they had cake and other goodies, and I said I'm eating clean, no sugar, no white bread, no white rice. I got the almost eye rolls, and raised eyebrows. but I held my ground, next time I'm going with a plan taking an apple and/ or yogurt.

It is not less at least not here, I live where horsemen and cattle thrive together, steakhouse on every corner. And the salad bar has 3rd rate vegetables. I get where do you get your protein, and why is that the number one question? suddenly my eating habits are everybody business. I think I'll invest in a nice cooler and just go every where prepared.

Did they rib your husband?

We do get the questions - and I wonder if it is less so in a less "Christian" enviornment. So many church-based activities revolve around food. Tonight is the "Men's Barbeque" and although they are cooking some mushrooms for my husband, it was a big deal. The advertising for the event was "You kill it, we cook it."

ok So now you have become a vegetarian. How do you handle all the questions people ask you? I find it embarrassing. For me it is to be healthy, I have no agenda, not an animal rights activist, I just want to feel good and to be healthy.
