Today we spent the afternoon running errands, and some shopping. We needed to go to Spectrum ( cable TV place ) we needed to return on of the boxes as it was not working right especially when weather stopped the TV. Took forever to turn back on , and would repeat the procedure to reboot ---frustrating for sure. Then off to Costco, since we were in the city where it's located. Walked around and bought some items there, so non prescription stuff mostly and some protein bars. After that we went to a coffee shop for coffee, then onto Walmart for a couple of things we forgot the other day. That pretty much shot the afternoon for My knees and my right shoulder have been causing problems with all the cloudy with rainy days we have been having, so have not done any strength exercise since late last week. Hope the rain stops showing up soon so that they will ease up to get back to doing strength exercise.

So another gloomy, cloudy day here right from the get go this morning. I t finally poured just as we were ready to leave the ceramics room this afternoon. We ended up staying an extra half hour until the rain stopped. So the temp dropped some but still very muggy out, and the cloudiness is still with us.
Not certain what is for supper tonight, got a few ideas running through my brain. I am leaning to make some ground turkey, onion and mushrooms to put over some rice for dinner. I have 3 turkey burgers in the freezer that I can use for it. Will make gravy to thicken it a bit. A salad is sounding good as well.

Have a great time at the cabin, hope the bugs aren't too bad there.
We have been having some stormy rainy weather the past two days and sounds like it will continue through possibly Saturday. A tropical depression in the Gulf of Mexico is traveling through Mexico ( at least it didn't become a hurricane). It is about 120 miles from here where it hit, but we got the stormy weather anyway. So far not to bad, but are getting some long awaited ran we need so desperately. It is an inconvenience to get out and not be able to stay out with the rain, no swimming for sure. Temps have dropped into the 80's for highs, but over night still staying warm. They say back into 90's next week.
I saw my allergy doctor on Tuesday, my breathing test was much better than six months ago, that made me happy. He did say that I had one reading better before that was still better than Tuesdays--but I am happy with the increase that it was.

Happy belated Anniversary to you, Gwyn! Quiet day yesterday. I didn't end up getting a walk in -- the mosquitoes were so thick yesterday I got about 10 bites just being out long enough to water a few plants. Will go to the gym for an hour and perhaps fit in a walk before it's time to pack the car for the cabin. Not sure if there is internet there, so if not, I may not be posting the rest of the week. Enjoy the holiday!

A little drizzly out this morning. Will practice with a violinist for an upcoming wedding we are playing for. After that, not much on the agenda. Want to get a walk in, a run to the dollar store, and maybe start packing for the week at the cabin near Alexandria. Need to keep up the exercise!

Beautiful morning, although a bit of fall in the air. Getting ready to go to the gym, since we'll be on vacation next week, and I'm sure will eat too much at the lake! And the scale was down another pound this morning, so at least that really motivates me to watch the food and get some exercise! Will be walking and kayaking while on vacation next week!

She's doing remarkably well. Just have to hope she doesn't get infection. Beautiful day, although a bit windy. I was pleased to reached my lowest weight this morning, and so onward I go! Last day of water aerobics today, and I'll miss it. Thinking of going to Milbank (SD) this winter, as they have an indoor pool. Off to run errands now.

GWEN, have a wonderful time on your trip.
MNNICE, so sorry to hear about your dog being attacked by another dog. So glad she survived, hope she is coming along nicely from the attack. I just watched a Vet show on TV the other night. A medium sized, older dog ( eleven ) got bit so bad she passed,l after surviving the surgery. We finally made it the pool today, as it was hot and humid again today.
Tomorrow there will be a dance here, an hour after I get done with ceramics. Looks like Jim and I will be doing the popcorn, hope it goes well tomorrow. He will speak with the president of the Circle Club in the morning to see if it's ok to do so---as the popcorn is bought by the club. So busy day tomorrow.

Have fun in Winnipeg! Had a horrible experience yesterday. Was walking my little dog (on a leash on a public street), when a pit bull ran from its yard (was not on a leash) and attacked Sunny, biting her, then grabbing her and shaking. She has wounds on her head, neck, back and side, and the one on her neck just missed her jugular. She also had some bleeding in her lungs. Luckily no broken ribs. Vet says she was very lucky to survive the attack. Talked to the owner after I got home from the vet and he did give me a check for the vet bill, but the point I hope I made is that dog needs to be on a leash or fenced in yard at ALL times, whether or not he (the owner) is right there with him.

Got a text late last night saying he ran into trouble end of the week and he will be here early this week. Well, guess what, it's raining today and probably tomorrow, so that's not going to happen either. I have to call the spa place and reschedule the move..again. I am going to just wait and call them when we actually have concrete, as it has become obvious that I am NOT the one with any control with this project! The problem is we have a cabin rented all next week, so we can't do it then. I just hope the friends we're buying it from don't get mad at us, but I know they understand as they have also been waiting for contractors to show up to do some work in their garage. My eating was horrible over the long weekend and I need to get back in routine. Off to the gym!!!

that is horrible that the cement contractor never showed up. you never been to the State Fair before??? I used to live in St. Paul and there were buses going to the state fair from where I lived every few minutes. You know I went every year when I lived on that end of the twin cities. Now the traffic is horrible during fair time so going to work as I live in St. Louis Park.

Gwyn, that sounds like a great idea when you retire to do something with some of your time.
MNNICE, what a bummer that the contractor left you without the job done. I hope that while your gone they will get the job done on Saturday. Then remember to be not use this group again. Hope you have a fun weekend with your grandson, a hope you get to see the granddaughters this weekend too.

The fair was fun, but since we'd never been before we didn't really have a plan of what we wanted to do, so we just strolled and stopped when something caught our interest. My legs and back were sore, and I'm tired this morning, but slept well. We're packing up now to head to Fargo. Cement contractor did not show up yesterday...Haven't seen or heard from him today....And the tub is rescheduled to be delivered Tuesday. I'm not going to be a happy camper if I come home Sunday and the job didn't get done!!! grrrrrrrr!

Renassaince faire is wonderful -- if there is one near you try it you'll like it! I am going to contact the community center near our house when I retire as they have a seniors program. when I was out of work I went to their writing group

Gwyn, I can't make a comparison as I never went to the Renaissance Fair all the years we lived in Mn. We talked about it, but just never went.
Today I went to ceramics for 2 hours this afternoon, there was only 2 of us there. I think we did more talking than getting a lot accomplished. I forgot my glasses so I couldn't work on the detail things, just painting the things that didn't take close detailed painting.
Something got me to coughing this afternoon in spurts, just like yesterday. I think it is something outside since it always follows being outdoors. Oh well this too will pass.

for a long time I lived in St. Paul near Snlling Avenue so I had easy access to the State fair--all the buses running on Snelling were a direct route to the state fair and so I would go once a year. not sure if I will go this year -- going on vacation next week. But I love the Renaissance Faire and want to go there. I think I am the only one who loves the Renassaince faire better than the state fair

Gwyn, I like this group too. So as long as there is just a few, I will continue.
I had totally forgotten that this is the time of year the Minnesota state fair is taking place. We didn't go every year, and sometimes we would go later in the afternoon, be there for evening, but the darn Minnesota pests would eventually catch up. Going during the day means having to feel hot and sweaty when the temp and humidity climbs.
Today we went grocery shopping, we were in one store for over an hour and a half. My husband said gee that was almost $200. today. Yes I said back, but we haven't done a big shopping for quite a while. That means many staples were needed beside groceries to eat. Never got to the pool, by the time I got done putting everything away, it was just about time to make supper. Hope you had a good day ladies.

Things are finally coming together on our hot tub. We decided to wait and go with the cement after all, since they said they could do it yet this week. Then Monday the electrician said he would come, and on Tuesday the hot tub will get moved to our house. Yay! Now I'm just hoping the weather holds because we won't get cement poured if it's raining, and that will throw everything off again... Donated blood yesterday so I'm feeling a little tired today, but will do a lighter workout at the gym and then go to water aerobics. If I'm still feeling okay, I'll get a walk in later. I am going to the state fair tomorrow (our church has chartered a bus!) so I need to plan on what to wear and what I need to take along for the trip. Then Friday we go to Fargo to babysit our grandson for the weekend. It's going to be hard to eat healthy the next few days!

Hi, hope you are having a good day Gwyn and MNNICE, as we sure are the 3 keeping this page going. I didn't get on any teams yesterday, was having a bad day, did get some exercise done tho. Today, is another hot one here again, staying indoors as much as possible since not going to the pool. Yesterday, we had heat index warnings out for us Asthmatic and other lung problems, so indoors yesterday too. Tomorrow will be hubby's social security check day, so off to the grocery store right after lunch, then home and going to the pool if it isn't raining. Scattered quick storms popping up today and tomorrow, then sounds like rain for 'Friday and the weekend. We really do need some rain, it has been weeks since any has fallen that will help.

Yes, Gwynn, seems like it's down to 3 of us. I've found the same on a couple of my other teams. Got my dentist appointment made for later today to do a temporary fix for my broken tooth, plus the concrete guy actually showed up first thing this morning and will come to do the work Thursday or Friday. So my day is doing pretty good already! Off to the gym!

I slept in this morning, enough time to eat and head to ceramics this afternoon. Of course did get a cup of coffee in and read the paper before having something to eat. We were going to go
to the pool if I got back early, but actually got home later than usual, wanted to get some things ready for spraying the sealer on next time. So looks like tomorrow will be the day for the pool. Then by next Wednesday the temps will be back down into the 90's again instead of the 100's like the past two weeks for awhile.
We will be going out to have that hamburger at Whataburger tonight, that is fine, I ate light today since hubby mentioned going there last evening for tonight. Then we will be good for about a month before we have a hamburger again. Have a good weekend.

Our Mass was pretty quiet last evening -- I counted from my seat at the organ in the balcony -- only 71 there. But we were in the midst of a severe storm watch, plus the street on 2 sides of the church are completely dug up with construction right now, so it's hard to navigate to the parking lot. Had my massage yesterday and it was very nice, but wish I could've just relaxed more afterwards. Slept in this morning so I'm late getting to the gym!

Had a pleasant day. Went to ceramics this afternoon, did some exercise both cardio and strength this evening after we got back from church and I made dinner--ate late tonight. Mass was at 6:30 it was bilingual, English and Spanish---to hard to follow but not much choices for today. Naturally that takes a bit longer to get through, mixing in the two ( it also depends on the priest, there were 2 doing the mass. All the songs were in Spanish and no organ or piano. It was at a church here in the city we live.

Only been to Jack in the Box one time, when we were in AZ. Busy day today. Need to get organized here, as they are working on the streets and hit a gas line about 4 blocks away and although they are asking people within 2 blocks to evacuate, I'm going to be prepared to spend some time away from the house should they widen that area.

Never did make it to the pool yesterday, just got so tired after finishing all the wash, and then it was time to make supper. Today I went to ceramics this afternoon. Came home, changed into some better clothes (I use older clothes when painting--some how I get the paint on my clothes too). We headed over to McAllen, to go to JoAnn Fabrics.Mn. The suit I bought in Mn. splits in the middle, so I want to add this piece under the front of that area, or maybe around the entire top. Figured that material doesn't if ever goes on sale--good to use that 55% coupon on that.
We stopped for a quick supper at a new Jack in the Box that opened in the town next to us on the way home. The sandwich and fries were very good ----so was the fat and sodium when I went to do my food for the day. Yup, both were over, but we don't go to fast food very often so I am not worrying about it, just watch a bit closer for the nest couple of days to even it out.

Found out yesterday we could buy a heavy pad to put the hot tub on -- just have to dig the area out and fill with granite fines, level it, and put the pad together on top of the fines. We decided to go that way. Went to Watertown (SD) today to get it, came home and started digging. About half way through the digging, guess who showed up? Yep, the contractor we told last fall we wanted this done in the spring! He said he was going to come tomorrow to do it. So why is it he couldn't have called last week and told us this? Well, we are just going to do it our own way now. Will save a lot of money and just a couple days of our labor. They can bring the hot tub next week, so I'm calling tomorrow to schedule it. Now to get the electrician here...........

Hello spark friends, it's another hot day 101 at 1 PM today already. Hubby went golfing with some other guys this morning from our park, lucky they go early so they got home already before the heat and heat index climb even higher for the day. Golfing here in the summer is cheaper, then goes up higher when the winter Texans show up.
Busy doing laundry today, must be doing someone else's too as have way more than usual today. Hoping that I get all but the whits done, soak some whites and hit the pool while soaking them.

Rainy morning -- of course, since I washed my car last night and watered my flowers!! Will go to the gym this morning and hope the rain lets up by water aerobics time. Maintained my weight over the weekend, even though I did get some exercise and was really careful on my food intake. Hopefully with more exercise during the week I can get a pound or 2 off this week!

Beautiful day! Hubby went golfing and I'm a little bored right now. Would love to go kayaking, but can't find a partner. Will do a walk a bit later. Might just sit in the sun and read! Enjoy what's left of summer! Just ordered tickets for a Neil Diamond review show at Prairie's Edge Casino in October. The leader of the band is Matt Vee, who is the son of Bobby Vee, and Bobby Vee's nephews are also in the band. Have heard them before and they are very good! Matt used to play with Johnny Holm band, and they played here at a place where my hubby worked as bartender, so he knows him from them so that makes it extra fun! So making plans for October already -- one of the benefits of retirement are being able to do this type of thing on a week night!
