Happy 2011 Divas!
I'm with everyone else - ready for the "normal". I have a group of 4 teenage boys sleeping in my living room, so taking down decorations will wait until later today. We had a party last night for Con, several of his friends, and some of their parents. It was fun, and most people left around 1:00. We have WAY too many goodies left over, though, but Dave will bring them in to work on Monday, so it should be fine (he's very popular when we have leftover goodies). ;-)
I just really want to spend the next two days organizing, centering and resting and then hit the ground running on Monday. I'll have to do some prep work tomorrow for the student meetings - at the moment, I'm not even sure who I'm meeting with and for what purpose! ;-P So, yeah, I guess I'd better prep a bit.
Well, Sock - we've reversed - you have the cold and snow and we have 50 degrees today!!! It's raining right now, but I'm hoping to go out later.
Myra - welcome! This is a wonderful group. Congrats on your 1 month sparkiversary and on your meeting the boot camp challenge!
Have a good start to Saturday, everyone!

Hugs,
Jen

Myra, you are doing great! I'm doing that 28-day bootcamp challenge as well, and am going to do 3 week over again because I've been slacking this week.

Sherry, it's good to see you posting and it's really nice to see you back!

Every, I hope 2011 is the best year yet ahead of us, with even better years to come. Let's rock this year!

Hugs!!!

Happy last day of 2010! I am so looking forward to the new year. I started the 28 day Boot Camp Challenge today. I've met my first goal and set a new goad of 30 pounds by 4/16/2011. Boy that's weird to type ... 2011. We were invited to a party tonight. Decided against it as everyone needed to bring finger foods and sweets. That just seemed way to tempting and overwhelming. We went out to eat instead and turned it into a challenge to make really good choices. We had planned and even entered an "Outback" dinner on Sparks. Got there at 5:00 and there was already a 2 hour wait. Ended up at Red Lobster. Turned out to be a better choice (even with the stuffed mushrooms and garlic cheese biscuit. Did you know they had a small nutrition tracker in the back of the drink and dessert menu? We skipped drinks and dessert and had a really nice time.

Started taking down the Christmas decorations today. Managed to turn that into exercise as well. Really only got the tree down and packed away, but got an extra 50 squats in and every time I went up the stairs added a few more steps (usually I make the kids take things up so I only have to go up one time to put it away).

Really feel good tonight and will sleep better I hope (last night was filled with chills and panic attacks). Yeah Menopause! But I think the extra exercise will help. Well gotta go start working on the menu and shopping list for next week. Have a safe and fun New Year's Eve everyone.

Welcome Myra,

These are a great bunch of Diva's for sure. Grad a cup of coffee and sit awhile. They'll have you laughing and enjoying sparkpeople that much more.

I'm putting away the holiday decorations this weekend. I'm not feeling well so will do it slow but I'm so over Christmas.

looking forward to 2011 and getting to know each and every one of you. Supporting each other will be so much fun.

Have a safe and Happy New Year everyone.

Hey everyone! Just a quick fly-by.

Myra, welcome to the group! I echo the sentiments of "the holidays were nice, let's get back to normal now." LOL

I wasn't "perfect" but don't consider anything to be setbacks. It was all good learning.

Very cold and snowy in Denver tonight. My kitties are huddling on the external hard drive or on me. And I don't mind because I'm cold, too!

Hope everyone has a good night!

I'm with you Janet. Ready to get back to normal. I love the Christmas season and having all the family here, but it's time to get back to routine and schedules. I had two days in a row of setbacks this week and really feel the need to get back on track. It is so much easier to do without a houseful of people. Will be off work Friday-Monday. Our oldest son, his wife and their two dogs will leave in the morning. Gonna get the decorations down, finish the garage to gym conversion and plan a month's worth of menus. Ready to get back to regular exercise. Ya'll have a really happy New Years.

Hi Divas!

Koogswife, welcome back! And the chair exercise (or any exercise) will probably help with the funk, too.

Janet - welcome back from your trip! Did you have a good time?

Holly, you really are wonder woman. I'm glad things will slow down soon, though.

Sock, it sounds like you're gearing up for motivation, too - bravo!

We had a nice time on Monday night. Con left yesterday for his aunt and uncle's and Dave and I have a couple of days to ourselves. It's nice. Tomorrow we all meet up halfway and I'm hoping we get my mom together with Barbara's mom. I'll find out later today, though. Then we have a New Year's Eve party for teens and their parents here on Friday and Con has a group of kids coming for D&D on Sunday and then... back to normal! It's been a great vacation, but I think I'm starting to be ready for normal. ;-)
Hope everyone is doing well!

Hugs,
Jen

Hi All,
Thanks again for the re-welcome. I've also joined a chair exercise team, trying to get some exercise started. I'm limited but know just moving is better then not moving. Just working on the what type right now. Have a wonderful Wednesday lady diva's.

Hi, everyone!

Holly, it's amazing how busy you are with the bakery! Here's hoping you have a short break after the New Year to get a breather -- the Valentine stuff will be starting up before you know it!

Koogswife, welcome back! Glad to hear you're doing better and it's great to have you back with the group. Join me in digging in -- I was dabbling in holiday treats between Thanksgiving and Christmas and just barely maintaining (fluctuating in a 9-pound range from my ticker). I'm getting the food back under control and am working to get back down to where my ticker says I am, and then continue on from there. Let's do it together, ladies!

Janet, glad you're back from your holiday. And saw on the Bike to the Moon that you're back in the saddle -- woohoo!!!

Jen, I hope your party goes okay and that things calm down for you soon. Hopefully you get a little break before school starts again?

That's all I can remember from reading yesterday -- my apologies to anyone I missed. I hope everyone has a great day!!!

Hello Ladies,
I've been a part of this group for some time but haven't posted. I was in a real funk but I reached out and some wonderful people reached in and took my hand and helped me through. Thank you all so much. I'm determined to keep on tract and in touch to not only get support but to also give support. Looking forward to being a true DIVA...LOL

Good Morning Divas!

Holly, are you breathing yet, or do you have a bunch of New Year's orders? Did you survive the massive snowfall?

Cindi, it sounds like you had a lovely Christmas! Your dog does sound very funny.

Sock - so sorry about those blisters - OUCH! I hope they heal quickly.

I'm supposed to be getting work done today, and we have folks coming for dinner tonight. I'm a little "off" schedule, but hoping all will be okay.

Hope everyone else is having a good day!

Hugs,
Jen

Adding a Happy Kwanzaa to Holly's Happy Boxing Day! Here's hoping everyone had a good holiday and a good weekend!

Today was my Kwanzaa 5K run/walk race, which I did with a cousin and a friend (and her sister). They had been worried about keeping up with me, but I was hoofing it to keep up with them, silly girls! "Fast" is all relative. LOL! I think we were the last 4 people in, and yet I got first place in my division (Clydesdale), my friend got 2nd place in the same, and my cousin got 2nd place in her age group. It's a small venue and always a lot of fun! I even got to meet 3 SparkPeople members from another part of town! The only down side was that I attempted to reuse the tape the physical therapist applied last Monday, but put it on over hose to keep the tape itself off my skin. Turns out this was a bad thing to do. I don't know why but the sides of both feet got irritated and I have huge blisters on both -- big, painful. Geez. Just finished a run to Walgreen's to get first aid supplies, both feet have been patched up and they feel better at the moment. No more walking for the rest of this week probably (exercise bike will be okay).

I hope everyone has a good rest of the weekend. Hugs to all!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
It's been a really nice Christmas today. We went out for breakfast as we always do & got to see our favorite waitress. We've been dining with her for probably 20 years. Feels like we've grown up together. Been thru happy times & losses with her. So then we came home & opened our presents & then our stockings. It's one of the traditions of Christmas that I won't give up. I'll give up presents before I'll give up stockings. It makes me feel like my mom is still here & my girlfriend isn't all the way out in Oklahoma. The most fun was Brody our dog. He not only got some toys he liked, but he also loved unwrapping everything. When his toys were unwrapped, he'd come and help us unwrap stuff. Then he'd just start shredding the paper. It was hilarious.
So now I've got to finish the church bulletin for tomorrow morning and then I've got 48 pictures to scan for a calendar I have to make & then print 8 copies of. I promised to have it done before New Years. I make them for a friend every year at the holidays. Well, she pays for them, but I do it every year. Feels like her kids are growing up before my eyes. Kinda neat since I've never met the family, just her. :o)

Well, again, Merry Christmas everyone. I'll check back in soon.

Cindi

PS... I'm so glad you're getting snow Mana!! I LOVE Snow. It's been snowing lightly all day here, but we already had a few inches on the ground from last week. I LOVE IT.

Merry Christmas, sweet Diva angels! I apologize for not being here, but am having computer issues. Hard drive crashed and decided to replace the entire computer instead of just the HD - big mistake. I can't keep anything running for any length of time on this new one. I've started many posts only to lose the whole darn thing - very frustrating.

Anyway, I hope to get it resolved during the holidays. I'd better post this before I lose it!

PS - we *might* get a white Christmas, believe it or not!! I'm so excited - it's a long-time dream/wish of mine!!

love to you all!

MERRY CHRISMAS Divas!!
I thought I'd take a few minutes to pop in and wish you all the most joyous Christmas.

Thank you for all your thoughts after my post. Things are getting a little better here. It's been hard to get into the festive atmosphere, but I've been able to do it a bit. I even got it together enough today to finish my shopping & wrap all the presents. We'll be going to church in a little bit & then home to wait for morning. I think it's going to be OK. I've found a few ways to bless people anonymously this year. It's been fun, and has taken my mind off things and replaced the sad thoughts with good ones. I paid for the person behind me at the Taco Bell drive thru a few times and then the other day I went & got the lady at the post office a pair of christmas earrings like mine because she said they'd look perfect with her outfit she was going to wear to a party. She was very surprised when I came back to the counter a half hour later with a bag with a pair of earrings just like mine in it. I just said Merry Christmas & left. It made me feel really good too, like I was starting to feel a bit of the real reason for the season. Giving.

Anyway... I'm on the mend & I'm gonna try and get here much more often. You guys are the best and I miss you.

God Bless!
Cindi

Well dang, Holly -- do you ever get a break? Apparently not when you have your own business, I guess!

Thankfully I'm on Christmas break now, until January 4. So looking forward to it, too! I have plans to exercise and maybe get some house cleaning done, and just hang out with the kitties.

Here's hoping everyone is having a wonderful time with friends and family as the weekend approaches. "Not a creature was stirring..." (except for Holly and the cake batter, that is).

Hugs!

Hi Everyone!
Janet, I hope you're off having a wonderful time!

Sock, I'm glad you'll be getting a real break! DH is having that, too, now. Me, too! It's GRAND!

Holly, when do things slow down for you? Do you have a bunch of New Year's Eve orders, or do things slow down after tomorrow?

We're having a "family day" today. Still not sure what we'll be doing, but it will be nice to just hang out with Dave and Con. I got up and got some yoga in, and am hoping to drag them out for a hike later.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

I'm heading over to my mom's house tomorrow with Husband & #3 son for Christmas. Sons #1 and #2 are coming over on the 24th. I'll try to keep sparking by filling out my food & exercise but I'm not sure if I'll be able to visit teams, etc.

I wish every one of you wonderful ladies a very Merry Christmas! I can't thank you enough for your encouragement, support and friendship. I am blessed.

I'm home on the 27th ... look for me then! Stay happy & healthy!

Good Morning!

Sock, glad you are taking care of those feet!

Claire - good doctor's reports. And yes, I'm part of the multi-visit club, too. I think it's part of aging. Cough, cough.

Wendy, congrats on your BLISS! Enjoy your time away.

Janet, it sounds like you have many lovely family traditions that nurture your Norwegian side.

Holly - will check in with Dave on the amphicar. He remembers them, but may not remember yours specifically - he really does have some memory issues.

My stomach thing is finally calming down, I think. That will be good. I'm happily enjoying time off and am ready to be slightly more constructive today (ie. finishing last minute shopping, doing some cleaning, etc.). I guess I should figure out my Christmas menu, too.

I guess that's it on this end. I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

Hugs,
Jen

Claire, glad you're getting good news from the docs so far! I'm amazed that my docs have never brought up my weight; probably a good thing because I already know I'm big and what I have to do and don't like people shoving it in my face. And welcome to the "multi-visit" club. When I saw my current doc for the first time in 2006, that visit led to referrals to a cardiologist and appointments for a mammogram, colonoscopy, and bone density test. LOL!! In addition, when I was diagnosed with endometrial (uterine) cancer at age 46 (in 2000), my gynecologist-oncologist told me my diagnosis put me at a higher risk for breast, colon and ovarian cancer. I didn't ask but am sure it was because of my weight, which was definitely a factor in the endometrial cancer. So, your doc was spot on and it's good knowledge to have.

As for my feet, I had to cut the tape off this morning -- forgot that I'm allergic to tape and I was getting blisters. Oops... LOL!

I hope everyone has a good Tuesday!

My doctor's appt took too long yesterday so jelly making will commence today instead. And since the jelly wasn't happening, I helped my sweet DH take my father to the dentist. (He has recently had some rotting teeth removed and now has a new lower denture that fills in the gaps so we had to make sure it was a good fit). So, jelly is today.....

The doc says my "parts" are good (female, heart, lungs), suggested a colonoscopy (eeewwwwwwww) and bone density test, and thinks I need to increase my dosage of anti-depressants. She said the menopause may exacerbate the out-of-control feelings and crying but the emotional issue is still there and should be addressed. So I'll call my GP today to make that appt. Blood work will show the rest. And, when I make the appt for the colonoscopy, I can also address the intermittant nausea -- or at least see if they can figure it out.

Geez! It used to be that I could have my well woman exam, once a year and that was that. Now it seems like every doctor's appt I have leads to 2 or 3 others. Not sure I like that......

She never said I was overweight -- just that I was "over my ideal weight" -- and made sure that I knew that she wasn't chastising me. It seems like so many docs tell us we're overweight like we didn't know. "Oh really, doc? I had no idea!" And then give us advice we didn't know either ("cut calories and exercise"). She knew I had a brain and respected that. She did mention that those of us that are not at "our ideal weight" are at a higher risk for breast cancer. (I think she only told me that b/c she feels it's not common knowledge).

Anyway, I liked her. Glad I went. Waiting for results.

Have a lovely Tues, Divas (it IS Tues, right??). lol Wendy -- sooooooo glad you're blissful!! Yay!

So many people recognizing lefse. How exciting! :) We always had it with Sot Suppe (sweet soup) on Christmas Eve. My mom wouldn't even let the fish in her house! I'm quite happy about that. Sounds yucky to me. I just want to make a little batch of lefse for my Mom. I'm so glad that we've kept up with the tradition. The boys all love it and enjoy helping. Even my husband's family comes over and join in on the fun. I usually put a buffet lunch out and we have a good time. So, that will be Wednesday. We leave Thursday for the island.

I hope everyone is well. Best wishes to all.

Story behind the car. my "adopted" grandmother bought it due to her husbands love of fishing. he had had polio and couldnt get in and out of boats..so they bought the amphicar. well, he died..she didnt want it, so she gave it to us. yeah. same with the camp..she didnt want to go any more so she gave it to my parents. yeesh. anyhow..my mom let us girls use the car, then when we got cars of our own she sold it.

yay Wendy!!! thats wonderful and glad you are having a blast!!

Jen..tell him it was called an amphicar. it was white with a black convertible top and red inside. I drove it all over but only once the snow melted and before it came. we never ran it in the snow. we could drive right into the water, turn on the props and it was a boat. what fun it was!!

Swooping down from the clouds to say I am blissful. Thanks for keeping the fort down while I was away having the time of my life. I will catch up when DH isnt demanding I relax.

A photo dropped from an album while mom, sis and i were looking at old photos and drifting back in time. It was of mom's grand dad with my aunt and mother in front of his general store near a farm town not far from here. I had seen the building but it is so decapitated it did not look like a store. My sis and I jumped into my car and found the place. We then took a photo of my DH (standing in for gramps),my sis and I in the same exact spot, 65 years later. We made a picture for my mom and gave it to her later that day. Of course we cried. Then when my grand daughter saw it she suggested that she (the sixth generation female) stand there too. So guess what?. It was amazing. Last night I gave her our grand mothers watch and ring. She was in Austin when she passed and I kept it for her.

It was special. Over the weekend we prepared every delicacy we love and I was not tempted once. By jove I think I have got it. Pants falling off. People praising me. I am loving life.

6 childrens concerts, 5 business parties, 4 family parties, 3 days of a brand new job, two tired hosts and a sister who left today. Let life begin again.

Merry Christmas ladies, I am leaving again for North Carolina for Christmas in the mountains with my children. I love you and hope you find peace on Earth.

He certainly remembers the Vosses's house, and undoubtedly his dad knew Dr. Voss as Dr. Haines was a neurosurgeon at Ellis. He certainly remembers Goldstocks. He's trying to remember your car - his memory is not his strongest suit. ;-)

Jen tell David..where my house was, right on the turn before the bridge over the lisha kill, vosses were just over the other side of the bridge..big white house with red barn next to Goldstocks. (everyone knew Goldstocks..they had a big sporting goods store in Schenectady) its used to be..uh oh. cant remember their name, but they had a collie named Cy that got lost or stolen and turned up in Texas or something, then found his way home on his own!!
George Voss was a vascular surgeon at Ellis and his wife was Sandy..I babysat their kids Charlie and Amy all through my high school years.
Ask him if he remembers my car..it was an amphicar and it had propellors..we had so much fun with it!!

Happy Monday, Divas!

Claire, I hope all the appts. go well - and I'm SO delighted you've been pain free!

Holly, I still don't know how you manage everything. You're a Wonder Woman, truly. And, btw... Dave's family did NOT go to the Vosses, although he said it sure sounds like a good time! My guess is that they were often up visiting family in Vermont, or maybe they didn't know the Vosses?

Janet, Sock, Holly - what wonderful traditions! I've had Lefse, but certainly never made it. And Holly, I'm with you on Lutefisk - that and Haggis are two foods that I draw the line at. I'm not big on gefilte fish, either, although I love just about any fish other than gefilte and Lutefisk.

My nephew arrived and just left a little while ago. We had a really lovely visit.

Jan - I can't BELIEVE your baking spree! You have many lucky friends and relatives. I think I'm *done* baking for the season. Wooohooo! I still have to do Christmas cards, though.

Well, that's it on my end. Hope everyone's doing well.

Hugs,
Jen

Speaking of lefse...my mother is part Norwegian. She doesn't do the traditional baking, but one of my cousins does, and they just happened to have pictures on Facebook this week of a new generation learning to make it. Fun to see the traditions handed down from generation to generation!

Claire, good luck with all your appointments. Glad you're still pain free -- what a blessing!

I'm still trying to catch my "daughter" (the cat) for her inhaler this morning, then have to get moving. She's been a pistol to catch the past couple of weeks.

Hope everyone has a good day today!!

Then some Yule Logs, then weds starts the madness filling paid orders (the cookies all but 5 dozen preorders i give for gifts to people that have helped, family, repeat order clients, etc.)

I have my chiro appt this morning -- still no neck pain for about 3-4 weeks! He's a miracle worker! Then on to the OBGYN to find out about my other issues. I'll be interested to see the results (whenver I get them!). Appt for my dad too --although DH may take him alone -- and jelly-making. Busy day! Hasta luego!

Hugs to everyone who is struggling with lost loved one these holiday season! Jen, I like what you said, too...very comforting words indeed. Thanks for sharing them.

All you baking divas...my hat's off to all of you! The pictures Holly posts of her stuff, it all looks so delicious and sometimes I think I can gain weight just looking at the pictures. LOL!!!!!

Today we had gorgeous weather so I took the road bike out for a spin. It was glorious, too. I can't wait for spring and warmer weather so I can start riding regularly again.

I happened to read a blog post by Koogswife tonight -- Sherry is her name -- she's posted here occasionally. She's struggling and looking for motivation. I gave her a rather honest, stern answer and hope it helps her. If anyone else feels inclined and wants to offer support (hopefully softer support than I did LOL) please stop by her Spark page and leave her a note.

Time to hit the sack...I have a PT appointment tomorrow to see if we can do something about my aching feet. Sweet dreams to all the divas!

I channeled my inner Holly today. I made: chocolate macaroons, Nanaimo bars, biscotti with almonds and orange peel, fudge and my Grandma's "icebox" cookies. Tomorrow is sugar cookies and another batch of biscotti with cranberries. Then lefse (a Norwegian flat bread) on Wednesday and my baking duties are complete.

Best wishes to all.

ooooh, it must be the name David, mine went to bed tonight not feeling well too. Such wonderful pictures of love and comfort with your words...beautiful. I hope those with recent losses find comfort in them. Jen, glad you had a good time at the party. Wendy, sorry about your sis....my cousin wanted it so badly and couldn't get it, personally I'm glad she didn't, but there are a few out there who are glad they had it and it actually worked for more than the initial weight loss. Three days and then off for Christmas! Although there are sad memories for DH remembering his brother, he and I have been even more attentive of each other and the season and really enjoying this pre-Christmas time. Just making time to do things together and laugh over silly things. I looked in on him sleeping earlier, and all I could think of is how blessed we are that we are smart enough to enjoy every single day we have together. I know from my first marriage it is a true gift to have what we have. I wish all of you the same happiness.

Well I just finished review a contract and can go to be now...just thought I would send you all a quick hello and good-night!

Jen i am SO glad the party was fun and you liked the fruitcake!! I have people gasp at the price until they try it...then they realize that its packed full, not like the store ones that are all batter and a little fruit. one cake has 2 cups of nuts, a pound of cherries and a pound of dried candied fruit, half a pound of currants and a pound of raisins. i use only real butter in them and half a dozen eggs,,,and my secret part too which you would laugh if you knew but it works doesnt it?
I hope Dave feels better soon..so glad you had a wonderful time!!
Hugs and love

Happy Sunday, Divas,

Cindi, I'm so, so sorry for your loss.

Wendy, I'm sorry it's been overload for you and I hope you're enjoying the Christmas party today. Also, I hope your sister is much, much better. I can talk a lot about gastric bypass, and will do it another day.

Our huge annual party was yesterday. That's why I've been MIA. It worked out beautifully, though, and we all had a lovely time. My mom was going to back out, but I took her by the scruff of the neck. She's always worried about being a pain, but she LOVES parties, and I wasn't going to deny her that pleasure. I just wish she'd understand that a little driving in winter weather is just NOT an issue for Michiganders. I'm tired today, but happy. My nephew is arriving in about a half hour or so for a two day visit, so I'm happy about that, too. The only downer is that Dave isn't feeling well - I hope he feels better quickly (and he didn't even have the vodka punch!) Holly, your fruit cake was SUCH a hit, and we still have lots to keep nibbling on. I had several fruitcake fanatics at the party, which makes friends because all my friends are a little bit fruitcake-y, (me, too!) and everyone said it brought back what a REAL fruitcake is. It just transported me back to childhood and Dave, too. People couldn't get over that "small world" story. I forgot to ask Dave about the Vosses, but I will when he's up (he's napping).
Jan - lovely, lovely quote. After my sister died, Connor, who was 4 at the time, came up with this theological idea, which I've always loved: "Mom? You know how you say God is all around us? Well, this is what happens when you die - you become part of God. And you're around everyone who loves you all the time." It brought me enormous comfort, and still does.
Wishing comfort and love and joy to all. Cindi, remember we're hear for prayers and support.

Love and hugs,
Jen

Cindi, I'm so sorry for your loss. I recently lost a friend in almost the exact same way and it's a shock. Take care of yourself throughout the holiday. Be gentle with YOU.

Ditto to Raine, Wendy et al. This is a challenging time of year -- and a time when self-care should be one of our highest priorities. Especially when there are losses and sadness. You really don't have to do it all by yourself. Set limits on what you will and will not do and then stick to them.

You are all too precious to me to wear yourselves out just because it's a holiday. You are the only one you will never leave and who will never leave you. YOU are your first priority. Remember, if your bucket is dry, you have nothing to give to anyone else.

This is David's obit for those who are interested:

Wow. Such heavy posts tonight...

Cindi, my condolences and hugs are added to the others. What a big loss with the losing two loved ones so close together. Take care of yourself...the weight loss will be waiting when you're ready to tackle it again.

Wendy, sorry you're so worn out. Also sorry to hear your sister is so sick, despite the victory she got with the insulin. Hope things settle down soon and that you get some rest soon!!

Raine, hugs to you and your hubby. It's hard losing a sibling and being reminded of the empty chair at the holidays. I lost a brother 6 years ago and that empty chair is never easy to look at. Despite his pain I hope you're able to see your brother...we must enjoy the living while we're here!

Mega-hugs to everyone who is struggling, and also to those who aren't!

Diddo Wendy...rest and enjoy the season. By the way, LOVE THE NEW PIC! I told everyone I was leaving early today....Assistant had a water pipe break, other assistant had to leave to go to night job...guess who stayed until 6:00...missed most of DH's work party....oh well!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! It is sooooo beautiful tonight. We drove around the downtown square looking at the beautiful lights with the snow gently falling....ahh a perfect night for a sleigh ride....where can I get one of those?????? Tomorrow is my big brother's birthday, hoping to go up and see him. DH is having a hard time tonight over the loss of his brother last year on Christmas. I'm sure its because he was with all his siblings tonight and it's so hard. So I don't think he feels like going up to see my brother. We'll see.

Night all.

Crawls to the computer desk and barely holds head up to type...missing divas...send help.

I have O.D. New job, three grand kid concerts, eight holiday parties, vacation next week in NC to plan, huge party at my house Sunday 8 inches of snow and a partrige in a pair tree..I am about to black out.

My sister had gastric bypass a month before this visit and is now laying in my guest room terribly sick. She has O.D. too. NEVER GET THIS SURGERY!!! She is happy because she is no longer on insulin shots Hurray! but the price she pays for it does not appear to me to be my choice.

I am about to hit the sack as my dad use to say. Migraine. See what I do to myself when I cant say no? Still, truth be told, I would not change a thing and I can rest in NC once this is all over. I really am having fun but can one die from smiling?

I hope your holiday is as good but maybe a bit less stressful.

Cindy, I read about your loss and am so sorry. Please come here, we all need one another.

Diva, have a wonderful weekend and soon we will catch up. ..... now where is that send button... i am soo tired.

Yes, Cindy, so sorry about your losses. It is hard, I know. But whatever you do, don't worry over the weight. That's a battle that we all will have for the rest of our lives. Let that not be one of the struggles you try to deal with right now as you deal with healing of yourself and your family. Glad you are getting back to the challenge if for no other reason than to take care of you, but make if from a positive want to, not a negative have to which will only stress you out more.

Hugs hon

**tip-toeing into the thread**
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone.
Sorry I've been AWOL. It's been a rough winter so far. When we got back from Oklahoma in October we found out my brother was in the hospital. Long story short: burst anurism(sp) - pneumonia - heart attack - stroke - coma - gone. He passed away 2 days after Thanksgiving. Meanwhile my husband's favorite aunt (and my favorite too) passed away the day before Thanksgiving. We are starting to come back to life here, but we're way behind on the Christmas preparations. So the diet & exercise has completely gone by the wayside. I've gained back almost all the weight I ever lost. BUT... I'm not quitting. We are starting another Biggest Loser contests at work on January 5th so I'm jumping in again. I'd like to start getting back here lots more often. I know the support is priceless. I will come back and read some back posts to catch up, but probably not all of them. I'll just try to jump in where you are. :o)

God Bless you all.
Cindi
