IMAREADER - You should give SGU another shot; watch at least four episodes in. It does add the humor and pick up the SG vibe along the way; it just started so differently and darkly. I almost didn't make it through the first couple of episodes, and now I think SGU is my favorite.

I would watch another SG series. I tried SGU and didn't like it (like you said, too dark). I wonder if they could try it with a younger cast (to be different, but still be able to bring in adventure and humor). I say this as a person who could is no longer a young person, but it could work.

I'd go with any Stargate you want to give me; the main premise of using the gates to go new places is fantastic. However, I want Eli back!!

Ignoring the movie for the moment, if they rebooted the show with a new cast, but similar writing style would you accept it and watch it?

A lot of people didn't like SGU because it was too dark and lacked SG-1 and Atlantis' self-deprecating humor. But in the second season I think the writers figured that out because they started adding some in--bickering scientists and more humor. It was too little, too late, though.

I know the writers have all gone on to other things, but if they could capture that style and find a unique storyline for a new cast... would it be accepted or would you grumble and say it's not the original, where's my Atlantis movie!!!!

I'm just curious. I have several friends that write fanfic based in the Stargate universe, but they've created their own characters (one is about a different SG team) with their own adventures. There's also a group role playing Atlantis somewhere (they were advertising on livejournal last week.

And to add to the conversation:

Say they were casting for a new show, what kind of characters do you think they should have? Ideas for the big bad? Cast suggestions?

I'm bored and feeling really crappy and need something to entertain me.
