I rarely eat breakfast. I used to feel guilty about it. Then was doing the 30 Day Shred workouts and was starving in the morning, so started eating breakfast...and gained weight. It made me hungrier ALL DAY. Found an article that said studies show breakfast is NOT necessary for weight loss, and that's all I needed. Stopped eating breakfast and started losing weight again.

Doing my best...one day at a time.

I keep almonds around for snacking, too. I need to keep some toasted ones on hand. I've started putting some in my oatmeal and I keep a few at work for snacking.

I've tried to get used to having oatmeal for at least three breakfasts a week. It's really hard, because although I've gotten used to fat free milk, whole wheat bread and brown rice, I don't like oatmeal (unless you put so much stuff in it that it's no longer healthy). I think I've finally found a oatmeal recipe that I can work with. I make one serving and then add about 1/2 cup chopped apple, 1/2 serving of golden raisins, and 1/2 serving of chopped toasted natural almonds. I also add a good bit of cinnamon and finish with a drizzle (about 1 teaspoon) of maple syrup. It's actually fairly tasty. The calories are higher than plain oatmeal with a little fruit, but everything in it is healthy (and I'm going to try adding a tiny bit of maple flavoring instead of the real thing, or maybe even some sugar-free syrup).

I do better when I keep only almonds and raisins around for snacking. Otherwise, if it's there, I'll eat it!

What makes me mad at myself is that once the 'hangover/detox' days are behind me, I always feel so much better when I'm eating healthy. I'm hungry right now (I just put some chicken in the oven and plan to have a veggie and some green salad), but I don't feel like I have to grab some snacks. I really want to get in that mindset more often. (It helps that I don't keep snack food in the house, but I'm surprised at how I can actually find something bad to snack on when I really, really crave it! (Like popcorn--I know that is a good snack, but not if you eat a big bowlful every day. Even with no butter and just a trace of oil in the pan, it adds up to too many carbs and calories. I ran out of popcorn last night and don't plan to buy any more for a while).

I do the same thing sometimes. I don't listen to the voice in my head that says "you don't need that". I listen to the pouty child who says " but I want it".

Stuck to my diet today. I'm a little headachy, but that's to be expected after eating too much for several days and then going 'cold turkey' (so to speak).

Wow! 4 degrees! That's too cold for me!

I'm back after not logging in for several days. I've just been eating way too much. I'm back to the healthy foods for a while (with a break for Christmas, but I'll try not to overdo it). I don't know why I let myself overeat sometimes. I always feel bad afterwards (like I have a hangover) and then I feel so much better when I eat healthy.

I'm envious. Left the house to brisk 4-degree temps. That's the next two days for us.

It was in the upper 50s here today (maybe even into the low 60s), but it's going to drop back down in the next couple of days to the 40s again. That's pretty much our winter here. Everything stops when we get a hard freeze--it even makes the lead story of the local news because they open shelters for the homeless and those without proper heat in their homes.

Wow, 10 degrees! I think it's in the 40s here and that's plenty cold for me. It was kind of gloomy outside today, but no rain like yesterday. I'd like some nice clear sunny days in the 50s for a while, especially since I need to do some yard work.

Oops! Forgot to start a new topic for December. How's the weather where you are? It's cool, foggy and rainy here today. Very gloomy, but at least it's not freezing like I know some areas are right now.
