My honey and I have watched all of SG-1 and Atlantis, but he didn't watch SGU. I'm working on getting him to join our team here (he recently joined Spark!!).
They will be assimilated!

My fiance is down with SciFi, but he is new to the Stargate Series. I spent a good portion of an episode explaining how the different parts of the series fit together. He was still a little confused, but I may have a convert.

Doing okay with getting my minutes in. I just have to find a way to set aside time to actually watch them now!

I've always liked the movie, but I tend to think of it as a separate entity. Even though it sets up the series, I gave up trying to compare the characters, settings, etc. because I got frustrated. (Such as seeing the Gate set up at another place other than at Cheyenne Mt). I just enjoy them both for their own special moments! (Although I do like to compare Michael Shanks' portrayal of Jackson to James Spader's. Uncanny!

I remember seeing the movie at the theater on the big screen, of course never dreaming about how far the Gate would go! (franchise-wise). I seem to remember that the main reason I went to see the movie was that I had always been a big Kurt Russell fan ever since his young days as a Walt Disney movie star ('The computer wore tennis shoes', 'The strongest man in the world', etc.)

'Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- WOW -- what a ride!

I had no problem matching the 121 minutes at the end of the month so I could sit and watch the movie last night. I walk and run a lot with my dogs, and the minutes just rack up. It will be more of a challenge at the beginning of August to get enough minutes to watch an episode (Monday is usually my rest day, but not on the day of the kickoff for our challenge!)
It was so much fun to watch the original actors in the Stargate movie. The writers made Daniel pretty much exactly the same when they started the series, and Could totally hear Michael Shanks' Daniel saying the lines from the movie!
The Jack is definately darker and harder as a character. That one changed the most. It had to, there was no way someone like RDA would imitate Kurt Russell, he had to just make it his own from the start. Of course, you could argue that the Jack from the movie was still in a dark depression from his son's death, and had a death wish of his own, so who knows how RDA's Jack would have been at that time? Maybe dark and hard!
Anyone else have thoughts on the movie version of Stargate?

We're going to try to have at least as many fitness minutes as minutes watching Stargate, so the movie is 121 minutes and so you need 121 or more fitness minutes to meet the challenge.

What fo you mean by, 'meet the minutes'?

You are not sick because you are fat. You are fat because you are sick.

Good luck with the move! We'll really dig in to the rewatch starting in August, so you have something to look forward to once you're settled.

I'm moving this weekend, so I'm not sure I'll be able to watch it. (sadness) However, I did get all of my minutes in so far.

The original Stargate movie is 121 minutes long; watch it this week and post here to tell everyone you watched it and met the minutes!

Feel free to discuss the movie, how it differs from the series, any thoughts you have about it at all, just match those minutes and get ready for August!
