At risk of being in the wrong forum for it, I'd like to say I can't really complain about Simon Pegg as Scotty. Sure, would've loved to see Paul on the screen more than 20 seconds (or at all, as I missed him because I didn't check this thread before I went), but Simon was good. That and Paul probably will be better off not being typecast. Beckett was kind of Bones and Scotty thrown together in a blender to begin with. LOL

Thanks for the info. Now I can tell her where he was and see if she did recognize him.

He was the guy who gave out the ship assignments, and then Kirk went up to him asking why he didn't call his name.

I think he would have been great as Scotty. Too bad. :(

I am going to email her and see if she knew and just didn't remember to tell or if she didn't realize it was him. Even for 20 seconds I would to think I would recognize him.

Your friend may have missed seeing him since he was just in the movie for about 20 seconds. I just have to be happy he got his name in the credits I guess.

Wow, I didn't know he was in it. I've not seen it but my friend has, she is a big Stargate fan, and hasn't said anything about him being in it.

I knew he had a small role but if my boys hadn't pointed him out, I would have missed him, too! He was on screen for what, 4 seconds? Man, he would have been a great Scotty! *sigh*

It must have been a small role because I missed it completely!!

I thought the movie was good but I wasn't fussy on the guy who played Jim Kirk. I thought that Spock was great and after a while I really liked the Chekov part. And as always Bruce Greenwood was great as Chris Pike.

I think I'd have to see it a couple of more times to get the gist of it all as it was a big change from the general story of Star Trek.

I haven't seen the movie yet, so I'll probably stay away from the rest of this thread (because I do need to get off the keyboard too, omg), but Paul should have gotten the role of Scotty... come on... he would've been perfect! He even looks like James Doohan! So that was disappointing from the start. But still, I look forward to seeing him, even if just for a bit.

I saw the new Trek movie this last Sunday. It was awesome! The only disappointing part was that Paul McGillion's role was so very, very small. Wish he could have had a bigger role.
