Thanks, Anarie! I like the soda pop suggestion. Maybe hot cocoa this time of year!

We've had rain the last two Saturdays. Now my guest room is filled with boxes for the sale. And it looks like it may rain again next Saturday. *sigh*

I'm way late on this topic and you've probably already had your sale, but if not, I'll say go for it. I had a sale several years ago, ran it all by myself, and cleared enough to pay for my move! Even though it was hot, miserable weather, I had a ton of people and they bought *everything*, including stuff I had set in a box in corner to take out as trash. The only thing that didn't go, oddly enough, were small kitchen appliances.

One little suggestion: If you have someone with you to help, consider getting a couple of packs of canned soft drinks and an ice chest, and sell drinks. You can make a small profit from them, probably enough to pay for your ad and/or signs, and it also gets people to stay and look longer.

So, I've spent the better part of the week getting ready. I've cleaned out a ton of stuff from all three of our closets and the garage. I'm getting rid of everything from books and DVD's to blinds and formal gowns. I'm a total pack rat and my husband has been very impressed by the effort.
And now it looks like it's going to rain. *sigh*

Good luck on your sale.

I'm too lazy -- I always take my stuff to a donations place (Teen Challenge, Good Will, etc.)

Tag sale = garage sale = yard sale

I found a good guide on the Real Simple website. I've got most of the stuff sorted. Now, I think I just need to confirm the times with my friend and advertise on Craigslist.

Ever have one?

I've never had a tag sale, but I desperately need to get rid of a ton of stuff I never use.

A friend has offered to let me hold it at her home as my house can't be seen from the street and she thinks that may deter some people from stopping.

Any advice? Experience? Horror stories? Please share!
