Kathy,

Keep checking the site periodically. My cousin says they also have sales on the gift certificates. She says they're last sale was 80% off the retail price. Now, the problem she says is that several restaurants pull their certificates when that happens. Some do stay for the extra discount, others don't.

Still, I'm pretty impressed by the listing and the reduced price is great. My only concern and it's minor is that the gift certificate is a printout. I'd have like something fancy for the holiday. I suppose I can't complain since the price is so good.

I did not do Black Friday this year. First time in a long time. I am only spending $20 each on my kids, grandkids and hubby. All others are getting a card and the grandparents are getting my daughter golf team photo. I looked at cyber Monday but no good deals. I went to ebay and already found items for my younger son and his wife. I am spreading it out till December 23 this year. That is the day I will wrap and put under the tree. Christmas is so much more than gifts. It is the day we Christians celebrate the birth of Christ and it seems to get lost in the commercialism.
Karen, thank you for the restaurant web. That can be used anytime. I already found a certificate for a restaurant in my area I wanted to try for a while now.

We hit Kmart about 7 AM on Friday. We had to take my son to the airport by 6:30. Picked up a DVD/VCR combo for my grandson and Christmas dresses for the granddaughters. Then made a stop at Sam's Club for the Cabbage Patch Kids Surprise Twins set. You buy them and then have to open the box to find out if you got 2 boys, 2 girls, or one of each. They are for my granddaughter Malia. I couldn't wait..I had to "peek". She getting two boys! emoticon . Other then that we stayed home.

Actually, if folks are looking for a great gift at an even BETTER price, check out the following link,

www.restaurant.com

You input your zip or city. Then a list of participating restaurants will pop up. You can buy gift certificates at REDUCED prices !!! I'm looking through the places in my area, one place is offering a $50 gift certificate for $20 !!! How can you beat that ?

I'm going to be doing that for my brother and SIL. My cousin told me about this place. it's great.

I was opening my Kiosk at 4 am and had to work it till 9 pm. Believe me...by that end of that 17 hour day..I had enough of the shoppers. What is it about that day that brings out the worst in people? Rude does not begin to describe it.

I did quite a bit of online shopping this weekend. Most of my gifts were 10-15 dollars but if you order enough it can add up.

1) Etsy.com - this is where you can find handmade stuff sold directly from the artist. If you are looking for truly unique items. I highly recommend. All price ranges available.

2)BeadForLife.org - Great Cause, Super Price, Beautiful and Unique Jewelery. Time Magazine had it on their list of Best Gifts of 2009.

3) LandsEnd.com - needed a new pair of exercise crop pants. I have shorts and heavy pants for cold weather. But I have several runs scheduled over the next couple of months and needed something in between. I live in the South and it does not get that cold. I had a Free Shipping code for LandsEnd but couldn't decide between two different pairs so I ordered them both and will give my sister the one I don't want.

I am doing a cyber monday thing. I am looking for a netbook for my mom and I really didn't want to fight for one at Best Buy. So, I am looking for the best deal on line. If I don't get it now, I will look for the after christmas sales.

I got to work friday, so no shopping for me -- not that I'm a shopper to begin with. I find as time marches on (usually across my face), that I'm less and less inclined to spend and acquire things. The amount of consummerism in north america is beyond me and find myself embracing the opposite - less is better! I try my best to find other ways of letting people know how I feel about them.

so with holiday shopping nixed, this time of year is incredibly stress free for me!

Good morning, everyone ! So, did anyone get up before the birds to hit those 4am or earlier Black Friday sales ? If so, what did you find ? Any good deals ?

I do not shop at 4am. there is nothing I want to buy at 4am that I really want. I can wait til a respectable hour of the morning to go shopping. The weather was miserable on Friday. So, I didn't start shopping until Saturday.

I did get one really good deal at Macy's. For those looking for great housewares, go to Macy's. Anyway, I bought my cousin a really nice Martha Stewart knife block set. it's normally $80, but I got a door buster sale price of $37.99. not too shabby if you ask me !

In general, I tend to do most of my shopping online. I prefer to shop from the comfort of my computer chair.

How about you folks ?
