No flu shot for me! I believe that eating healthy and keeping a healthy immune system ... washing your hands ... and keeping your fingers out of your ears, nose, and mouth is an effective way to avoid the flu.

A couple people at work have gotten it and our corporate plan states that if you or a family member has the flu, you work from home until the sick individual has gone 48 hours without a fever (not using a fever reducing medication). We have a liberal virtual work policy, so I think that helps a lot of parents out.

I guess it helps me and DH that we don't have children bringing the stuff home either!

I got the flu shot because it's free at my work, but I think the whole flu thing is way overblown and people are freaking out over something that's not that big a deal. I will not be getting the H1N1.

My daughter had a confirmed case of it and she was very sick, but really no worse than any other flu.
I don't understand the hysteria over this.
Since I've been concentrating on being fit and healthy, I haven't been sick much at all.

Every year, I get the flu shot, and every year, I get the flu. This year was no exception. I suspect I may have had a mild touch of H1N1, but it's hard to say, since the symptoms of it include:

Temperature over 101°... or no noticeable fever at all.
Body aches... or not.
Presents a lot like a severe cold.

Great, fluologists. Really helpful.

They've run out of seasonal vaccine here and we haven't gotten H1N1 vaccine yet. I was going to get the seasonal one at the university, but they ran out the first day. UT had its own mini-pandemic of swine flu, and all those kids missed so many classes, they know they'll lose a semester if they get sick again with seasonal flu. Since they only pay $5 for the seasonal vaccine and most of them understand how vaccines work, they lined right up for it.

I'm in the age group that's low risk for both types of flu, so even though I usually get the shot, this year I'll probably let it go to people who need it more. Unless they get a big new shipment of seasonal and more H1N1 than they expect.

I'm also kind of hoping that I have some immunity because of the vaccine study I was in last winter. I don't know what strain that used (or whether I got vaccine or placebo), but it might help. Who knows.

i'm one of those "selfish" people who do not get the flu shot.

i also rarely get any kind of sick (my b had flu-like symptoms all last weekend, and despite taking care of him and being in close contact, i didn't fall ill).

Undecided.

I've never had a flu shot and wasn't planning on getting the H1N1 shot.

That said, I have heard all the arguments as to why I really should get the shot, so sometimes I start to think it would be a good idea. If our company starts giving out the shots like they say they will, I might consider it.

never had one, never will.

I am one of those "immune compromised" individuals who the powers that be say should get the shot.

I prefer to ride out the storm by keeping away from the situation. I hate using this word but I do have the "luxury" of doing this. If I have to be in the doctors office I use a mask and ask to stay in an exam room if the waiting room has many people with the flu or cold or virus.

So far, where I am, not many have been sick. It is still mild outside and people are not confined by the weather.

(By the way, the reason I do not take the shot, or the pneumonia shot is on the recommendation of my docs. My immune system is so sensitive that they don't want me to take any chances at all.)

I've never gotten the flu shot... and this year will be no different.

Have you had a flu shot yet ? Did you wait in a long line ? Are you on a waiting list ? Are you going to get one ? Did you get the flu or know anyone who had it ?

You know, I thought the gym would make us get flu shots since we work with the public. But, no one has said anything. I'm not in the high risk group for the H1N1 virus. So, I won't be getting one. I'd rather save the shot for the folks who really need it.

I saw one of my regulars yesterday and I asked her where she'd been because I hadn't seen her in a while. She said she was recovering from the swine flu ! YIKES ! She's the only person I know who's had it so far.

I haven't had a regular flu shot either. the last time I got the flu shot, guess what, I got the flu !

Last weekend, I was in my local CVS. You should have seen the line to get the H1N1 shot. there must have been a good 30 people waiting. Mind you, there probably would have been more, but those were folks on a waiting list.
