We have Vonage too. But it doesn't get much use. We use our cells for just about everything.

We have both & are in the same situation...thinking about getting rid of the landline. Our internet is thru the cells anyway.

Yes - 2 primary reasons:

I work from home so I need it for business.

My house is 3+ floors. I need a line on each floor - you cannot get from one floor to the other safely to answer the phone and the thought of keeping my cell phone on me at ALL times even when home is maddening.

I don't have one - cell phone only. Sometimes a land line would be nice, but it's not worth the cost since I need the cell phone anyway.

I still have my land line, originally because of my dsl, and in part because of receiving long distance calls from outside of the US uses up way too many minutes. I've cut all but caller id and I'm down to $30/mo. If I drop that and the anonymous blocking, I can bring it down to $11, which is where I'm heading next, I think.

We use our cell phones for 99% of our calls. We do have a Vonage (internet) phone -- mostly for the convenience of the answering machine.

We got it/kept it when FIL lived with us (for emergencies). But have thought about getting rid of it -- just need to get around to doing it.

I have the basic land line now. No bells and whistels..not long distance.

I had to keep it because my business cards out there have this phone number on it.

We do have cell phones and we have our circle.

We downloaded a phone service on our computer to $25 a YEAR and can call anywhere with it for free. No long distance charges or extra fees. Just a flat $25 but you have to have high speed internet to use it.

i am in the process of getting rid of my landline. i am not happy with the phone company it is attached to, so first i got rid of my internet service with that company, and now am working on hubby to be okay with just using cell phones. i told him that there would be a lot less telemarketer calls if we just use our cell phones. my husband IS NOT a cell phone fan, but i told him that he will have to take over the landline account because I no longer want to deal with the company.

I would love to get rid of my land line! Unfortunately, I live in a hilly area and the reception at my home is horrible. I have to be phone-available for work, so I'm keeping the land line.

Do you still use a phone land line ? or do you use a cell phone exclusively ?

I still have a land line at home, but I've been debating about getting rid of it. I hardly use it and yet I'm charged close to $60 a month to keep the number active.

How about you folks ?
