Hi Everybody! I'm back. I just joined the Biggest Loser at work and need all the help I can get. I missed you guys. I'm trying to find my way around SP. CK was a lot more user friendly but you guys are the best part. (I'm sending kisses)

when i'm active at all, it's here.

i agree with most people that there's just so many that it's hard to make a connection. i've tried jumping into some of the location specific groups, and it just doesn't click.

i feel like i know most of the folks here already. :) it did help that CK was a pay membership, a lot less people around in general.

This is by far my most active forum. I don't usually respond too much in forums, but I do browse them a lot.
I found that I like some of the challenges and respond freguently in those.
My other most frequent teams are Therapy and Service Dogs and EA-WII Active

I belong to several other SP teams that are specific for my dietary needs which is what i do love about SP.

I have been a member of CK since 2003 and there was time I could not speak openly about my gastric bypass without getting some pretty nasty remarks. But being that I do have specific dietary needs to helps to find others in my suituation to share stories and what is working, not working for them.

The trouble I am finding with some of the teams eitehr they are so large that you can't really get to know others, or they are still huge but no one talks or creates threads. LOL. There is a team I belong too and there are tons of members but it seems there are only three of us writing everyday. But it is keeping me accountable ot log and so it is working for me!

I used to have a couple of quilting groups on YahooGroups and belonged to many more and after awhile it was pretty apparent only about 10% of any group ever post, the rest lurk. And as the 90's turned into the 00's there were more and more groups and the same 20 people were cross posting to all the groups...maybe it has all just been a time process.

All that to say a couple of things. New groups have a splash of posts and then it down to two or three people to keep a group alive until there are enough members to make 10% posting seem interesting :)

If I'm in a group I post although not always at this length...I'll make a fresh post as to what brought me to you all tonight.
I do believe in quality over quantity. I've noticed over the years here that the real winners don't belong to many teams, they are too busy doing. So their teams are usually quality

It seems that even the team with massive numbers on the membership... only a fraction post. Some teams have very little activity, some only post when it pertains to the team subject ie 'losing fat and gaining muscle', then others chit chat to the extreme that I just can't keep up with everyone.

I agree with Joey, I miss the general forums at CK. That is what really 'did it' for me -- making my weight loss a success. I lurked in the forum and happened onto conversations about healthy eating and fitness - which motivated me to 'be healthy' instead of just losing weight. With my focus on getting healthy and being the best me I could be, I did a much better job that if I had only focused on the scale.

I left the SP Harry Potter team, the spinning team and the Loves to Cook too. It wasn't because I didn't like them. there just wasn't a whole lot of conversation. It was kinda the same old, same old.

I know it can get a little quiet around here at times. but like Joey said, we know each other well enough to carry on regular conversations when we do post.

You don't always get that in the massive forums. I think the Emotional Eaters SP team has over 100,000 members. I don't know how their leaders keep track of everything.

I have tried to get involved in other forums, but it just has not taken. The strong communication between many different members is what I miss most about CK. Of course, that same familiarity probably contributed to some of the problems that caused me to leave CK.

My issues with getting involved with other forums has been that if they are general in interest (such as the Wisconsin team), there are so many people that there is no hope of getting to know anyone; while if they are formed around a specific interest of mine (such as graduate students) there is so little activity that there really is no interaction at all.

I am the leader of a team called Spark South Dakota and now have 7000 members who are residents of my State. It keeps me busy enough that I brought on a wonderful co-leader. I have an active team and am on there daily.

I have to come here of course just to see all my friends too and keep up with you.

My other teams are for team leaders etc.

I do go into the forums also here but not as often as I should .

I have my settings set to let me know when new threads are started. I usually give the new posts a look and often reply.

I like the ones that have moderate activity -- enough to help you get to know others, but not l-o-n-g daily conversations that I don't have time to keep up with.

Do you reply to messages (threads) on any other Spark Team or SP forum ? Where are you most active ?

I try to post here regularly. I do like keeping up with all the former and current CK members. But, I am also active in the Fitness - Exercise forum and occasionally the nutrition forum.

How about you folks ? Where are you hiding when not here with your fellow team mates ?
