If you go to www.firefox.com , you can download Firefox for free. Many people find that once they start using Firefox, they never go back to IE. It works with Window and Mac.

I was having problems with this again yesterday and I have IE7. It keep saying internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. Sorry for the inconvenience yada yada. :)

It only did it on a few websites and not here. I don't know what will happen today since I am just getting on the computer and came right here.

I know nothing about Vista. If you like IE8, maybe hold off and see if the problem is fixed at explorers end. I just keep sending the error reports. LOL

Windows update kept asking me to upgrade to IE 8 and I did. What a disaster! I went back to IE 7 also and now do a custom upgrade just to avoid repeating that problem of automatic download.

I gave up IE ages ago. I started with Mozilla and eventually moved over to FireFox.

FireFox is way better than EI. Although, I do occasionally have the browser close. It's rare, but it happens.

No, when my home computer is ready to go to that great recycling center in the sky, I'm ditching Windows and buying a MAC. I'm liking Safari.

I've had it with blue screens of death.

I upgraded to IE 8 and had wayyyy tooo many of those problems, so I went back to IE 7. I've considered Foxfire, but so far, haven't had time to check it out.

for a second I thought you said you prefer IE over firefox. I thought, wow -- that's a first! emoticon

IE is riddled with bugs, especially version 8. To the point where our network admin has barred the company from upgrading to it!

I don't use IE any more. I use Firefox. It looks like IE but works a lot better. And it's free.

Really, Vicki, I know, don't you think they'd have better things to do. I have never understood why people like to cause problems for other people.

Sounds like it is explorer that is the problem. I haven't uploaded any patches or anything. Maybe I shouldn't. I know it's not spark though, it's happening on our other computer at home and I haven't been on it. I've run Norton several times and it comes up clear. I also defragged, which I think did help with the SLOW response time. Trying to log in food yesterday was a real bear!

Thanks for the input!

Kayla

I have had this happen even before I became a member here. I think the problem is more with Windows internet explorer itself.

They have so many patches and safeguards that have to be upgraded from Windows update. I just upgraded my security patches last week and this started.

Darn Windows hackers. Sure wish I had the brain power they are wasting trying to cause problems with HP.

I have been getting that off and on, not recently. But I have been getting hung up in explorer and things get REALLY slow to the point I have to reboot. Could be just my computer. I hope it is not viruses getting in from Sparkpeople.

I had that happen often yesterday. Today, it has not happened yet. I thought it was my computer also.

We have been getting error messages on our dish network for TV also. Everything keeps losing signal.

Ok, I'm going nuts. I keep getting error messages that internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. Jori is getting it too and the scans show no problems or viruses? Anybody got any ideas what the issue is?

Kayla
