Well, I doubt the ravioli was, but you can actually substitute whole wheat pasta for most of the pastas on Olive Garden's menu.

Well, I haven't tracked anything since my last post, but I have still continued to cook better. I am scared to step onto the scale!! I am not making a very concentrated effort anymore, at least until after New Years!! I did alright at my husbands X-mas party until they offered dessert!! Tirimisu from Olive Garden is a weakness of mine!! I really recommend that if you go, try the Ravioli di portabella!! It was wonderful!!

Well, I haven't been very good about tracking everything, but I've lost 4 lbs so far. That's on top of the 5 lbs that I lost over the summer. I've tracked my food for the last two days, so I'm going to try to stick with it. Looks like I need to eat more. I only consumed about 800 calories yesturday.

I also need to work on exercising. I'm not doing as much yard work since the time change, so it's time to get out my exercise ball and free weights.

My two month mark was yesterday. I haven't lost any weight since Nov 16! I'm doing fine with my food, it's the exercise that's tripping me up. Must. exercise. more!!!!

I sort of plan my meals. I create a menu before I go grocery shopping. That being said, I still haven't cooked meals that I bought two weeks ago. The meat is still in the freezer. What happens is something comes up at work or I have to stop somewhere after work and I end up just eating something small and quick. Usually soup or pb&j. I don't want to eat something big an hour before I go to bed.

As for breakfast and lunch, I usually have oatmeal or a granola bar for breakfast and Subway or a salad for lunch. I did get some Kashi microwave meals and had one for lunch today. That was pretty tasty.

I hit 2 months yesterday. I almost gave up. I have only lost about 5 lbs this past month after I lost 10 last month. I was discouraged. I am back on track and going for it again. I am the cook for our Yule/Xmas celebration with my family and I am planning the meal already!! Leg of Lamb from a local organic source!!

Do you plan meals ahead of time, even 1 day at a time? You could log it ahead of time in a notebook and make corrections if you don't eat something or add something.

No. I've tried keeping one, I'm just really bad about keeping up with it. It's mostly a matter of discipline, but it's been the one thing that I've had the hardest time with.

Do you keep a food journal on paper since you have trouble logging online? You could log online once a week or what ever from your paper journal.

I think that the food plan has been my biggest struggle. I don't always have time to get online and record what I eat. Then I lose track. Regardless, I've been trying to watch what I eat and get plenty of exercise. I also bought a pedometer to track how much I walk in a day. So far I've lost about 5 lbs. I think I've lost more inches because all of my pants are falling off of me. I need to start tracking my measurements. My month could have been better, but at least it's some progress.

This month has been a real challenge for me. I was doing really well the first two weeks and then I had to move to another area and that totally screwed up my schedule. Now I have settled and should be able to get back on track since my life is somewhat in order.

I did really well the first month. My start date was Oct. 1st. I've lost 16 pounds since then. It really hasn't been too hard, I find that if I keep myself logged in here at SP and check the boards it is a constant reminder to me. I also LOVe the nutrition tracker. I believe that and the SP points have been what has truly inspired me. I didn't realize just how many calories I was truly putting into my body, nor the nutritional info on my food. It has truly been a learning experience. I am having trouble staying with the exercise though and also drinking the required water.
Here's to us all and our continued journey to health!!!

Well, I procrastinated for a few weeks, but got back on track on Oct 22. So, in the last 3 weeks, I've lost 5 lbs which I'm ecstatic about. I'm finding that tracking my calories is hard (too time-consuming), but strangely, I'm so motivated with the exercise that I still have lost weight. I am watching what I eat, but not counting every calorie.
Way to go everybody for doing so well in your first month!

My first month went very well. I don't really like tracking my calories, but it's not that hard. Drinking all the water I'm supposed to drink was a lot more difficult. I love my diet Pepsis! Getting out to exercise hasn't been difficult, I love walking. But pushing myself to do the strength training is tough.

I did find that I was trying too hard to get all the spark points I could each day. I'm on dialup and it takes a long time for each web page to load. I realized I needed to concentrate more on exercising.

All in all...it's been great!

My month mark was on the 6th and I've lost 12 pounds. I didn't take measurements, so I have no idea on how many inches! I'm kicking myself for that. I have an appointment with the trainer at my gym on Thursday, she said she will take my measurements for me so we can make sure they are accurate!
The easiest part has been eating healthier. It really is easy if you plan out your meals.
The hardest time I have had is when my Grandmother passed away on October 18th. I had all kinds of comfort food that week. It was easy to get back on track though, which had been difficult in the past.

YOYODIETNOMORE... I'm not WYOKATHERINE or JENNIFERGO, but am one of the team leaders, so I'll answer your question and tell you that you can see the member count on the team home page (click SparkTeam Page at the top of this page). It doesn't indicate when everyone joined/how many joined in the first two weeks, but does tell you that our total member count is 11405 (as of a minute ago). It's safe to say that most joined in the first couple of weeks.

its been tuff, but not as tuff as i thought it would be. i am still here, and that is an accomplishment.
i have hope that this is a new lifestyle, and not just a diet.
it feels like each day is a bit better, i slide sometimes, but i do not slide back to the beginning, nor do i give up.
bingeing, well i did a bit of the halloween, but by nov 2 i was back here, tracking my food, and thinking before i stuffed my face.
no idea what next month will bring, i hope tho, that after thanksgiving, i will still be here, still enchanted by my new lifestyle, and still wantitng to keep it up.

I found that the easiest thing for me was sticking to my nutrient goals of course with the help of the food tracking system. I can't say enough how much I find this feature so helpful.

I have to say the hardest for me was drinking water. Although I am making progress and now drinking my 8 cups. I'm no longer drinking soda which is a good thing.

Another thing that is hard for me is exercising. That's because of my physical limitations right now. I'm still recovering from many health problems so I'm limited on what I can do. I know if I could do more exercising I could burn more calories and lose more weight. So far I lost 6 lbs. which makes me happy. I had already lost 113 lbs. on my own before I started SP so I am making progress.

Finding SP was like finding a treasure and I want to share it with everyone I know!!!

Thanks to my whole SP family!!!

Well, in the month I've been at SP, I've lost 6lbs. But it's not the beginning of my journey....I've been working on this for about 4 months. The first month I was slowly getting into it, and the 2nd month was better, and each month gets better as I go on. Since I joined SP, it makes me feel so much more organized and in control.

Well, I guess I have done okay this past month. It was a month on the 3rd. I was doing really well, the first three weeks. Now all of a sudden, I am stuck. I have lost about 13 lbs so far, but I think that I have gained this week! I weigh in tomorrow. Eating was easy at first, but has been hard the last 2 weeks. I have stopped emotional eating, as much as I used to. Only had one bad binge in a month, that is really good for me. It used to be weekly at least!!

I have struggled with staying on calories this past week. I am eating healthier, but family is starting to resist the veggies I am trying to introduce more into our diets. I have been working a lot, and I tend to eat when I am at work. Client eats, I eat. That simple. Even having a healthy snack on hand doesn't always help. Last weekend, one client stole my tangerine that I had just peeled and ate it seeds and all!! It barely made 3 bites for her and would have taken me 10 to 15 minutes to eat.

I am hanging in there, and just hope to get past the holidays. On a plus note, I am purchasing that cookbook this weekend!! I also have dropped a pants size and I am wearing those jeans from the bottom dresser drawer that i almost threw out saying they would never fit again!! LOL

The first month was ok... I did well for the first week or two (at least nutritionally). Then I hosted a party, then had some big football weekends, then halloween... you get the idea. it was easier than I though to drink lots of water (although i had to pee like 95 times at work). It was (still is) much harder to motivate myself after work to exercise. I feel like I fell off the proverbial wagon for about a week. Now I'm back, and I'm going to try to get to the gym at least twice this week (maybe even three times!) We'll see how it goes.

The first couple of weeks were easy. Last week it was more difficult to "kick my butt" into moving. Plus I couldn't resist the Halloween treats, and ate WAY too many. But two steps forward, one step back is still forward! I'm ahead of where I was when I started this, and I'm learning a lot about myself.

Great things that I have noticed:
*My pants are no longer WAY too tight.
*I can jog up the 2.5 flights of stairs at work without being extremely out of breath. I used to breathe heavily after walking up them.

The first couple of weeks were easy-peasy. It's the last two weeks that have kicked my butt! Two weeks ago I fell out of my work out routine, due to scheduling and general laziness. That weekend my boyfriend was in town, I received some stressful personal news, and I had my Halloween party, none of which is terribly conducive to healthy eating! (My boyfriend's a great influence when we're at home, but we ended up eating out most of the weekend)

Then I was sick all week, and just ate the left-over crap from my party! /I/ prepared relatively healthy snacks, but of course people brought chips and dip and full-fat foods of all varieties.

I didn't weigh in two weeks ago because I was busy and I was well past my regular weigh-in time when I remembered. This weekend, I skipped the weigh in because I was just too scared to see what the scale said!

I'm back on plan, as of yesterday, though, and my family just got me a 3 month climbing gym membership, so getting in my exercise should be even easier from here on out!

I did good. I lost 4 pounds! I am not looking for huge weight loss fast..so this is good to me. My workout partner has been sick f three weeks..so my workouts have not been very consistant. (we go running at 5am when it is still dark..not something I can do on my own) But I do get out and play with the kids and pull out my jump rope periodically through out the day and I get my weight training in. I started working in the bakery at Target and boy that is a challenge some nights. But I am doing so good. (I worked there 2 years ago for two years and I use to be SOO BAD while I was working) But my food choices have been wonderful overall and I feel great! Sometimes I am still really tired..which I don't understand because I am eating so much better and I am getting sufficient sleep. But as I said I FEEL GOOD!! (singing the song in my head!) I am praying to be able to get a gym membership soon so I can go with or without my workout partner.

Hello all,
I haven't checked in for awhile. I'm wondering how many of us are still around. It would be interesting to know how many people joined this team during the two week time frame? WYOKATHERINE or JENNIFERGO do you know this info or have access to it? If not, do you have a good estimation?
Tomorrow will be 5 weeks for me AND my weigh-in day. The first 4 weeks I did great - 10 lbs. emoticon emoticon
The easiest for me was cutting down my portion sizes and measuring/reading food labels. I didn't feel deprived. I still had a scoop of 'No sugar added' Eddy's Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, Snackwell's vanilla sandwich cookies, ...um...a few other things I can't recall, but really enjoyed them, just in much smaller quantities than I used to.
The hardest thing for me has been drinking 64 ounces of water a day emoticon In almost 5 weeks, I think I've accomplished this on 2 or 3 days. That's not very good odds. I manage to get in about 4 glasses (32oz) a day, which is more than I was drinking before I started SP. So, I guess I've gained some ground.
I'm worried for tomorrow's weigh-in. It has been my pms time (sorry Gary, but this really does happen). I tend to retain water (because I don't monitor my sodium intake, & I think that is why, but do not know for sure) and feel very bloated and sluggish. I have stayed active everyday after getting home from work until I go to bed, but my actual exercise routine has fallen very short of my goal.
Looking forward to reading more posts here. Have a great day everyone.
emoticon

I've lost about 14 pounds in this first month. Whoo Hoo!! I had just moved to San Diego and hadn't stocked up on food yet, so shifting all my food stocks to healthy foods was quite easy. Best cereal I've found is Special K Protein Plus... low in charbs and high in protein and I have it with Silk Plain Light Soy Milk. I have also managed to lower mu cholesterol from 231 to 77 in the same month. Proper diet really does do a lot for you!! Hardest part for me is exercising... I can't seem to find the time. But, if my weight loss keeps on track the way it is... I guess I can live without doing too much exercising. :)

I can wear clothes a size smaller that I have not worn in months!! Yay! emoticon

What was easier than expected? Avoiding desserts.

What was harder than expected? Making the time to meet my cardio goals. Logging the time on SparkPeople really helps.

I started off pretty good, lost a total of 5 lbs in October, but I've been fizzling out the last week or so. I didn't lose any weight this last week, but I didn't gain either. I'm considering that an accomplishment on it own.

This week, my schedule has been all over the place, I've been pet sitting at someone else's house and I've been feeling headachy for the last 5 days or so. Today I've been eating sugar like crazy.

I do really well when I have more control over my world, but once things get a little hectic I start munching on what ever is around.

I have to get motivated again for the week to come! emoticon

Its been almost a month for me...I have lost 6 pounds. Wishing it was more. But thats not all I lost...inches matter too! The excersising is great and wishing I could do more. Time is my biggest problem. But so far its been wonderful, learning and having the support from SPARKS! Its been great!

On the 1st was one month for me. I have lost 12lbs. Yah me!! WOW!! 12lbs just saying that helps me lose more weight. Easy: Counting Calories. Hard: Getting the people that live with me to go along with my weight loss & the food that I am making. emoticon
