I can relate, noise can really effect your mood and since of well being. I agree that you need to take time out for yourself to relax when possible. That waiting room sounds very annoying, places like that drive me crazy!

My husband is nervous that I don't have any music picked out for labor. He doesn't understand the effect noise has on me when I'm uncomfortable. I promised to pack a few cds just in case. Even my relaxation cds are torture when I'm feeling icky.

We run an air purifier when we sleep, but during the day, it's hard to get away from noise. At home I can keep the TV or music at a low level, but at work I go nuts. Fortunately since I can't wear close-toed shoes right now, I have to stay in the conference room, which is much quieter than the shop floor! I was at the car dealership yesterday, and they have CNN and Christmas music going at the same time. The bathroom was actually a sanctuary compared to the waiting room!

Try to find some relaxing quiet time if possible. Reading a book or taking a warm bath if you can. Have you tried putting on a noise like a fan or something that is constant so other noises might not bother you as much?

Oh, I know! My dog started barking earlier, and I almost started to cry! This is getting really bad!

Given that you are due in a matter of weeks, I'd say YES. There is a great chance that hormonal fluctuations are causing you to get stressed and anxious over too much auditory stimulation. Hope it passes... wait 'til all of that noise combines with an angry baby (I have a 16 m/o and she gets angry about something pretty much hourly...) emoticon

Quit trying, start doing!

Over the last few weeks, noise has been starting to get to me. If the TV is too loud, or there are multiple sources of noise (like a TV and the radio), I just feel horribly tense, almost nauseous. One benefit, it takes away my apetite!

As I reread what I typed, it almost sounds like PTSD. I haven't been through anything that would cause it. Could hormones cause the same type of reactions?
