Linda, he has been a really good patient. I guess everyone was getting their yard ready for Memorial Day.

Carol, glad the presentation went well. A package? How nice of you, thanks. As nice as your quilts are I'm sure you could sell them, or donate for a fund raiser. When do they start on the wiring?

WG, how wonderful to get to go to your grand's play. Hubby is not a lay-a-bed guy and having to sit in the chair is driving him crazy. I think that will motivate him to do his exercises.

Ginny, how was the waterfall?

Julie, why did the vet recommend changing the cat's food?

Did some quilting on the wall hangings this morning. Got to the point I needed to do some marking and thought I might should test my marking pen. I usually use an air disappearing pen, and it usually does. But so far it hasn't, so glad I tested. I'll use another method. Today was hubby's first day of PT. We arrived at 12 for paperwork, they took him back at 12:30, and we left at 3:10. He said most of the time was them talking about what they would need to do. We figured they had a standart plan for everything, but apparently they don't. Said Monday the real work will begin. His cousin stopped by for a visit and to make sure he is really doing well. It was nice to see her and catch up. Didn't get my walk in, but that's ok.

Bev, watch out for a package. The storage pod is in the driveway and its very close. I had to back into the space in order to get out of the car. Did quite a good job I would say but dont want to do it very often. Tomorrow is a sit and sew and I hope to catch up on Pat Sloan's Home is blocks. It is near finished and I'm ready to be done with it. I'm ready to be done with a lot of things. Like big quilts. How many do I need and I have 3 needing to be finished and not just the quilting part.
We have a sit and sew tomorrow so I'll pack up my machine and then leave her packed. We will start moving out some furniture tomorrow and then movers come for an hour on Monday am to move some big items. Everything doesn't have to go, just the things close to outlets.
I took a load of fabric over to my church friend for her to deal with. I've moved enough around lately. Going out tonight to relax. Carol

We had a nice guild meeting last evening. It was nice to see people in person.

Bev, I am glad to hear your husbands surgery well. I am sure he will be up and around again soon. He seems to be an active person.

Carol I am glad that you presentation went well at guild.

It couldn't be hard to change the cats found because they have had ProPlan in the past and they ate it well. My cats like to eat!!

I have been sewing today. I finished making the crumb part of the block I am working on. I will try to get the blocks together tomorrow.

Have a nice evening.

Julie

Hi Quilters. It's been a busy few day although I'm not sure exactly what happened to the time. Yesterday I went to Princess Sofia's play at school. The audience (parents/families limited to 4 each child) were masked but not the kiddos. Then she and I went to an activity at her church. It was a Parisian evening. We had a light dinner and a couple of games. She is a fun girl to be with. Easy going and fun. She's 8 years old.

Meg, how sad to have that happen to your queen. I'm glad you are able to maybe get another one soon. How frustrating. I'm glad you had a nice celebration of your mom's birthday. it is nice to have good memories and it helps remember her better as the children will enjoy remembering her as well and not be upset because of the sadness.

Hope you can figure out what will survive the flooding. How nice to give things away as you clean out stuff. It seems like we often change in our lives and need to clean out the other stuff and make sure that we have room for new interests.

Bev, glad DH did well with surgery. I was a little surprised when my knee was outpatient but I did very well and enjoyed being at home so much more. The doctor is right, "Motion is lotion" when it comes to joint replacement. How lucky your DGS was able to help you. I'm sure DH will have a great recovery as he really doesn't seem like a lay-a-bed guy.

Carol, I don't envy you clearing out your house for the wiring. It will be nice, though, to get it done and be able to "move in" again. Hopefully the rain will come. Weatherman was predicting more hurricanes again this year but not as many as last year. Maybe it will just be more storms for a while.

Ginny, have fun having the kids over for dinner. It sounds like fun. Glad you got some reading in.

Pam, sounds like you are going to be busy. My sister had her cervical disk fixed in December and went to the gym the next day with the doctor's blessing. Her neck was a little stiff for a few weeks but it was pretty good and she felt so much better not having that pain. I'm sure you and GF will have a good visit as you help her with the heavy stuff

Julie, have fun with the cats changing food. Sometimes I feel like it is silly when they are so old to need to change food but it is probably easier on their kidneys not to have so much protein to consume. I am surprised at how much my dogs and cats have enjoyed other foods.

Hope guild was fun.

Have a great day.. I have grands here now and more coming in a bit with the other dog. They want lunch. They have had second breakfast already and are ready for lunch. Then it will be "afters." They like to eat at my house and I don't mind. They are very beige eaters so I feed them what they like.

Good on hubby's surgery Bev. Everyone sounds so busy! It rained and rained a lot the first 4 months of the year so we are grateful for a little sunshine. Hope it doesnt get too hot while the air conditioner is off. We get a storage pod in our driveway today and will start moving some things out of the house. I agree Bev, time to fix things up.
Last night was my Gee's Bend presentation at guild. It went very well and I got applause at the end. Never have gotten applause before but I did a lot of work for this. And one newer member came up to me and said how she enjoyed my presentations! That was very heartfelt.

My sister and BIL spent this past week at the hospital in Little Rock that specializes in Multiple Myeloma. I think he is pretty far along but the doctor's were impressed for his physical health at 75. He has always been very active. They will return to Little rock for most of June. The doctor's said he likely has had this for ten years. Just wish he had gone in last year when he started having serious pain in his back and chest but he kept putting it off. I am hopeful.

I came home from guild with piles of fabric, after receiving 4 boxes at the church yesterday. I just can't say no to fabric. But I think I will take most of it over to our quilt leader at church and let her do the cutting. And take 2 boxes and 2 large bags to goodwill. And then work on sewing room. Carol

Bev, sounds like the surgery went well. Hope your husband is a good patient.

Busy is an understatement for my day yesterday. It was fairly slow until after I got back from picking my granddaughter up at school. On the way back, I had to stop at the bank and I decided to grab a sandwich at the coffee shop (it was 11) and eat it when I got back to shop so that I could take a walk at noon. Well, that was a pipedream. I had one waiting when I got there and it just kept going. I was finally able to eat that sandwich at 1245. No walk for me. But I did end up with 58 active minutes on my FitBit! LOL! The rest of the afternoon was fairly busy. I was able to get the first border on my Grassy Creek # 2 and should finish getting the last border on tomorrow or Sunday.

Carol, sounds like the perfect time to fix your sewing room. You can get your sewing fix at the church sew days.

Ginny, unplanned days can be the best. Must be nice having DH puttering around again. Has he finished the painting?

Julie, glad you got to enjoy an evening out. It is a nice option now.

Pam, bless your friend. Sounds like they are being tested and she is fortunate to have you.

Linda, sounds like your Grassy Creek #2 is coming along nicely.

Meg, sometimes you just have to give injuries time to heal. We have some lights I would love to donate, but no one seems to want them. We are replacing ceiling lights with LEDs, but no one wants the florescent ones. I remember my grands playing with bubbles.

Well, got up at 3 and had hubby at the surgical center at 5:15. They had him in and ready to go quickly. He was in recovery at 8:15. They seem to have over done the anesthesia and it took a while for him to wake up. PT got hold of him and he was discharged by 10. By 11:15 we were home and he had his feet up in the recliner. He's supposed to walk at least 30 minutes a day, so he gets up every hour or so and walks around the house, then gets his ice pack. He is moving much easier this evening than he was this morning, so that is good. Oldest grand came and helped get him in the house and stayed while I got his prescriptions filled. He is a big help these days. Did manage to get a nap and my afternoon walk.

We had a warm and humid day but not much in the way of rain. Our contractor who built our work shop was put today to plug some holes in the peak where birds are getting in and making a mess. He also took the end of out pile of wood from threes we took down to build the workshop.

After lunch we made a trip to my favorite quilt Shop- Mill House and I bought some different fabrics. We then went to the farm store, Fleet Farm. After the checkups for my cats the vet recommended we change their dry to one that contains grains, so I Picked up a bag of Purina Proplan that I will mix with the current food. For the most part they were healthy for 15 year old cats.

I finished a binding on a quilt today. Quilt Guild is meeting in a park tonight, so I will take it along for show and tell.

Have a great evening.

Hi all!

Bev - Thinking about you today and hoping everything goes well with your husband's surgery.

Carol - It sounds like there's a great opportunity for a sewing room refresh with the work that they're doing. I hope they're able to finish the work in time for you to get everything put together by the time the grand kiddos arrive.

Ginny - What are you reading these days? I'm about to restart the Outlander series since the new book is coming out in November.

Pam - I hope your friend's surgery gives her some relief.

Linda - I love how your Grassy Creek turned out. I'm excited to see the second one too.

Julie - Post a picture of the Nickel Quilt when you get a chance.

I had a chiropractor appointment yesterday after work. I can't tell whether it's what they're doing or just time that's making my back feel a bit better. It's still pretty tight, but the pain isn't as sharp, it's more annoying than anything. I've really been babying it at OTF lately to keep from aggravating things worse than they are.

We took the boat out for a ride yesterday evening and enjoyed the weather we've been having. And I've been posting things on NextDoor that we've been storing in the garage that we don't use. I'm counting those as part of my "Donate 21 things" in my 21 in 21 list. So far we've gotten rid of a dog kennel, tomato cages, and a desk. We also have some extra propane tanks that I might post, so that someone else doesn't have to pay the "deposit" for one.

DSS is bringing the nugget over for a visit after work. I can't believe she's almost two. I got her some bubbles to play with so we'll see how long that entertains her. And one of these days we're going to need to break out the baby pool.

Pam, it's too bad all this rain isn't spread out better. The poor people in Louisiana are really getting hammered. I think Texas too. We went all day yesterday with none and today is supposed to be our last chace until next week. Some farmers still aren't done planting.

I'm hoping to spend a bit of time either before work or during my lunch hour working on the borders on Grassy Creek #2 lap quilt. Hubby goes with his buddy on the third Thursday to a restaurant that serves polenta.

Linda - my part of Florida is so dry. NO rain in weeks, plus we have an irrigation issue. Grass is crunchy! Plants need to be hand watered.

WG - 4 year olds are so much fun! Hubby will be seeing his crew in June. Ages 12-3. He will come home tired for sure.

Bev - prayers for your hubby. Out patient is crazy but that is what they are doing. My friend is having cervical disc surgery tomorrow on C4-5-6 and IT is out patient. Yikes.

Ginny - Block is in the mail! LOL

Meg - Wow you sure were/are busy. Sorry you lost a queen, but kept the hive. I enjoyed having coffee with you.

Carol - good luck with the wiring. Take time to sort through your sewing items and do some purging.

Me.....I only gained 2.6 pounds on vacation and that isn't bad when you think about how and what I ate. Still trying to get things in order here in the house and keep up with my commitments. I will be helping my friend who is having disc surgery while her hubby goes out of town to bury his Father. Talk about when it rains it pours.

Have a grand weekend all.

Know I've read eveyone's posts but pretty busy here at the house. They are starting the rewire next week and I think this would be a perfect time to dismantle my sewing room, let them fix things and then have it painted. Won't be much sewing going on for a while anyway. Today I will go in there and figure out what to do. Fill containers with fabric and pack it away? We do have some containers. Sigh!
On our trip we went to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, a brewery for a craft beer, our lodge which was very nice and even had a hot tub which we used. We went through Custer State Park and saw the buffalo, prairie dogs and then up to Deadwood and took a short tour. Then badlands and Wall Drug and back to Rapid City. Did not get to the Devil's tower which would have been another day. So three full days but we saw what we wanted to see.
Now I need to figure out what to do about my sewing room. Carol

Carrie, sorry your knee is so sore. I know you will be glad to get it fixed. I agree about challenging projects.

Linda, sorry about all your rain. Too bad you can't bottle it and use it in August.

Carol, hope they can finish the rewire before the grands get there. Now I want to make a trip to Mt Rushmore. You are so right about seeing our own country.

Ginny, so many wonderful places to see. We need to start a list of places we recommend.

Julie, everyone seems to be getting rain but me these days. Did you finish the Nickel Quilt top?

WG, our fur babies can be very jealous. Yes, they are doing frontal approach. He will get some PT, but not sure how much. Doc said he would be back on the tractor in a month.

Meg, we were surprised to find out they were outpatient. No one is allowed in the waiting area, so I'll be in the car waiting.

Meg, What a wonderful way to celebrate your mom's birthday. I'm sure there were some nice memories discussed. I know you feel bad about the queen, but at least you had another hive.

We didn't do much of anything today. Hubby got his teeth cleaned and I made a quick run for some odds and ends I forgot yesterday. Worked on the 2 wall hangings and have them ready to quilt. Grilled steaks for dinner, then hung out in the hammocks for a while. DD called and tomorrow is awards day for youngest GS and she can't get off work. So we will go bright and early.

Julie and Linda - It sounds like you guys need to swap clouds. I hope the weather turns better for both of you.

Ginny - What kind of ornamental tree are you putting in?

Carol - Your trip sounds like it was amazing and that you picked the perfect time to go. Mt Rushmore is on our bucket list as well.

Carrie - I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who does block layouts in my sleep. LOL. I hope your knee starts to feel better soon, I know it's been bothering you for a while.

Bev - My dad was just telling me that hip replacements are outpatient these days and that the recovery is significantly easier than knee replacements. I hope your husband has an easy surgery and quick recovery.

Pam - I'm so glad the rest of your trip was fun as well. Dinner out with your girlfriends sounds like it was a blast.

WG - 4 is such a fun age. They're so curious about everything and can talk about it. I hope Hamish has a great time being 4 and you get to enjoy all of those fun moments.

It's been busier than expected around here. I went and got my annuals this past weekend for our little garden areas. I need to get them planted in our boat planter this week. I got some marigolds, snap dragons, verbena, and some plants that look like little petunias but aren't. I also picked up some coreopsis and bee balm plants to put around our replacement lilac bushes and some grasses to put out by the mailbox. I feel like I'm in this "what will survive a flood" experiment with perennials. The next time it floods we'll figure out what makes it and plant more of that.

On Sunday my dad, sister, her husband and my niece and nephew came over for a cookout in remembrance of my mom. Her 74th birthday would have been yesterday. We had a really nice time looking at old pictures and I made some of her favorite foods. Sunday morning DH and I cleaned so that we could pretend that we don't live in a disaster zone most of the time. LOL.

I messed up one of my beehives on Saturday. I squished my queen. :( I got so excited that she had successfully mated and made it back to the hive and I was able to find her and mark her, that I squished her as I was releasing her back into the hive. I wanted to cry. I felt so horrible. I ended up having to take a frame of new eggs from the other hive and put it in that one so they can start over and make a new queen.

Needless to say, between the bees, the plants, cleaning, and folks coming over, I didn't make any progress on my block swap blocks. I've got 4 blocks completely done, all of the strip sets sewn together, and need to sew the white sashing strips in the remaining blocks left.

Hi Quilters. I've got another load in the washer. The dog is needy. I saw his litter mate last night and he was upset that he didn't get to go or that I was unfaithful and petted another dog. Not sure exactly what he is thinking.

Birthday was fun. Hamish is a cutie and is even tempered. It is nice to have one who doesn't get overwrought on his birthday. Other grandma is doing about a well as she has been doing. She never lets her illness get in the way of being the grandma. She made a pouch for him with embroidery. It is in his favorite colors and had his favorite characters on it. She also made a tissue holder for DD.

Carrie, sorry your knee is hurting. It is time to get it done. Glad you have a date for surgery. I found that ice helps a bit when trying to sleep. It reduces the discomfort a bit. NSAIDS also helps but since I'm allergic, I've had to use less pharmaceutical methods.

Hexies are fun. My sister makes all her I Spy quilts using hexies. She loves the patterns and the challenge. I don't doubt that you are having fun doing it. But it isn't fun to not sleep.

Pam, sounds like your visit was great fun. How nice that you could cook some of the time. It sounds like you got to see many friends as well a the big plus of your DD every day. Glad you found the missing block. It will be nice to not have it haunt you.

Bev, thinking of your DH and his upcoming surgery. I'm assuming a frontal approach for the hip replacement. Either way, they are much easier to recover from. Most people don't even get PT. Hopefully he will be done soon enough to get home in good time. It will be good for him to not be hurting all the time and be able to hike again like he loves to do.

Linda, I truly would take some of that rain. I'm sorry you are still being hit with storm after storm.

Carol, so glad you got to see the "faces." It sounds like you had a good trip planned and a truck is the perfect vehicle for that part of the country. It is just like you to be thinking of the woman and want to send her fabric. It wouldn't surprise me if you did. You are always generous with what you have.

Ginny, have fun improving the environment and planting a tree. We need more trees in our lives.

Julie, enjoy your puttering day. Good luck finishing the nickel quilt.

Carol, it sounds like you had a nice trip.

Bev, I hope your DH's surgery goes well.

I have been doing laundry and sewing today. I hope to get my Nickel Quilt top finished today.
I am sewing the rows together.

We are supposed to get rain today. I hope it is nice easy rain so that it soaks in. We really need the rain.

Have a great day.

Good morning Quilters

Planting more trees - this time an ornamental tree in the back.

Carol - we loved SD. Did you get a chance to get to the Badlands? Devil's Tower? Custer state park? We so enjoyed exploring the area a few years back. I thought the museum was interesting on what Mt Rushmore was initially intended to look like versus what it became.

We're supposed to get rain here today so I'm hoping we still get our walk in.

Stay safe and healthy

We are preparing for the rewire of our home and not sure exactly when it will be. Soon I hope as the grands are coming on June 6. Today we are going to sort things and move things around and take a load to Goodwill. I need to pack up my machine to get it out of the way. And I might not be on the computer for a while as it needs to move as well. Maybe we can clean up that next of cords around it.
The first day of our trip we got our rental truck, a Ford F150 at a really good price! Headed to Mount Rushmore. Weather was beautiful, nice spring weather. We walked up to the viewing area to take pics and then decided to take the 250 steps of the Presidential Trail. Steps is right but there were flat areas but these sea level lungs got winded quite often. I persevered and when we got to the end, it was closed off and we had to turn around and walk back! OMG. My thighs were stinging. On the trail though, you could get really good photos of individual heads. Afterward we went through the museum and gift shop and watched the video. Then headed to Crazy Horse where we had lunch. Then went through the museums there. So awesome! I stopped to talk with the featured artisan who was a Lakota woman. She was sewing a dress for her dancing and we talked about fabrics. I feel like I ought to send her a box full. There was a whole wall of photos of Indians from early 1900's. So awesome that someone thought to preserve our history!
Last on the list for the day was a visit to a beer company where we quenched our thirst. Lots of craft beer making there.
It wasn't very crowded in all the places so that was good. Not many cars on the road. Guess in summer it is quite different. We had dinner at the little cafe at our hotel and met some nice people around the fire pit. It was an awesome trip and I thought, why go to Egypt to see the pyramids when there is so much to see in our own country? Carol

Bev, good luck to your husband on his surgery.

Carrie, sorry your knee is invading your sleep.

Carol and Pam, glad you both had good trips. I'm ready to do a trip SOMEWHERE! It's been awhile. But, too busy at work right now.

WG, sorry about grandson's other grandma.

Ginny, good for you on biking. I'll never be in bike shape again. Decided about 5 years ago I haven't got the balance anymore!

It just keeps raining here! My rain gauge showed another inch yesterday. Hubby had to "mud" in his tomato, pepper and cabbage plants Sunday. Now he's worried, they're not going to make it because it just keeps raining and they can't get their "legs".

Good early morning. I can't sleep - knee is hurting. So, I am up here at 12:30 am. I read all the posts to catch up on everyone.

I have been busy with taking care of grands and working on the hexie quilt. I am almost done getting things moved around. I went to Hobby Lobby and got some white fabric that I will use in the corners to square up the quilt. I also got some green fabric for the binding. I am hoping to finish by next week. I have been dreaming at night on how to move things around to get it even - that is one thing I hate about challenging projects...they intrude on my sleep.

Carol, so glad you had a good trip.

Ginny, I'm with you on being out of bike shape.

Julie, let me know if you like the Accuquilt applique.

WG, sorry to hear about Hamish's other grandmother.

Pam, so glad you had a good trip. It's always nice to be home again.

Hubby had his appointment with the surgeon this morning. He's having his hip replacement surgery this Thursday. Had to go get blood work and a COVID test done. I'll drop him off at the front door, wait in the car, and pick him pu at the back door. Yup, it's outpatient these days. And they use spinal anesthesia. Made a grocery run when we got home and then worked on the wall hangings. Tomorrow will be cleaning and laundry. Hubby wants to get a kayak float in if we can, too. He's not going to be able to do much for a month or so.

I am back home and busier than ever with filling the house with food, laundry and mail.
Ginny - I found that missing quilt block for our exchange and will mail it in the morning.
Linda - Wow you had a very nice weekend with the family.
Bev - You are so busy all the time.
Carol - So nice when you had a great trip. You will think of something to do with the panel.

Once I am caught up I hope to finish my table runner. It is about time it gets done.

I had the most wonderful trip this time. I stayed with a friend and her husband so I got to cook and eat better foods. They are fussy about what they eat and it isn't towards the healthy side but I cooked one night she cooked another. The best thing was my daughter came over every night for dinner, so I got to see her every night I was in Allentown.

Five of my friends and I celebrated Everyone's Birthday and Mother's Day at a local restaurant and had great fun. I made party bags for everyone, with those fancy chocolate mints that are rainbow colors, animal stampers, glow bracelets and spy scopes. We really had a blast. One friend made a Birthday cake and a Carrot Cake for dessert and we shared with our wait staff and a kind lady who took pictures of us.

HI Quilters. It is lovely today and I'm going to enjoy some time outside. Had a quiet day yesterday. Church was online although I don't know how much longer it will be the case. I spent some time in the afternoon outside. The dog loves playing but won't stay outside if I'm not there.

Carol, so glad you had a great time. It is a lovely place and while the places to visit are far apart,, it doesn't seem a problem. I'm glad you got to go and get away for a bit. Now for the fun of wiring getting done. Reading books this week?

Ginny, it sounds like a great bike ride, but hopefully next ride you will be in better condition. It's so nice that you have the oppotunity to be with family.

Julie, it sounds like you are finding new ways to use your embroidery machine. It will give you a new creative outlet. It sounds like retreat was good for you.

Bev, glad the mower is working. Your hubby is a keeper. Hope you get the stitch regulator replaced soon.

Today is Hamish's 4th birthday. I'll go visit him later today for birthday cake. All the adults will be vaccinated. It is nice to be able to gather and know that they are also safe. The other grandmother has been dealing with a fatal cancer for several years and had a relapse a couple of years ago. She is doing better after treatment but it is always there.

Off to clean, do laundry, plan next project, and get my house is order. Have a great day.

The embroidery with the Accuquilt patterns seemed to be pretty easy. I may try it on my own before the June retreat. I have several other appliques so I may look into getting the embroidery patterns for them.

We just got back getting groceries. I need to order some thread and then see if I can get some more of the background fabric for my crumb blocks. I am going to use for binding the quilt. I have decided to do a piano key border on it.

Have a great day.

Bev - yes we got into our bike ride. I am out of shape but it was a great adventure. We went to one of the many food trucks and got lunch before we were off to the local park. In all we biked for 60 minutes. I have to remind my DH that he can't plan a bike trip like we've been biking consistently every day. I need to regroup and work my way back up to where I used to be. I only had to walk up 2 hills :)

Went home read a book and then hit the hay early

Our trip was fabulous! The first day, we headed for Mount Rushmore. Weather was perfect and not very crowded this time of year. Easily walked to the viewing area. Then we took the Presidential trail which is 250 steps and yes they were steps. I had to pause occasionally to get my sea level lungs working in the high altitude. When we got to the end it was blocked off so we had to turn around and walk and step back the rest of the way! I felt so good with all that walking, I need to keep it up! I'll be blogging about the trip later. Carol

Ginny, low maintenance is a good thing. Did you get your bike ride? Has DH gotten to see your speed loving DGD on the bike yet?

Julie, I was wondering how the embroidery worked with the AccuQuilt. Was it hard to set up and get aligned?

Linda, congratulations to your DGD. Is she looking forward to high school?

Today was rather uneventful. Hubby slept in cause he really needed the rest, then he finished getting the riding mower running and sharpened the blades so I can use it. It works like new. I had hoped to finish the wall hanging for the Etsy sale, but had to wash the batik 7 times before it quit bleeding. Did get the applique on, so maybe I can finish tomorrow. Got my afternoon walk in, and it was a glorious day to be outside.

Busy busy weekend. Granddaughter graduated from 8th grade this afternoon. Friday afternoon my son and family came home. We took them and my daughter's family out to eat at the steak house at the Country club next door. My oldest grandson missed since he had to work but otherwise it was a great time. Yesterday afternoon they had granddaughter's party/open house. It was really nice.
Today I worked on the final borders on my first Grassy Creek lap quilt before we went to graduation. I finished the borders on it when we got home. Pic is in the Grassy Creek thread.

Sounds like everyone had a pretty good weekend.

It sounds like people have been keeping busy.

Our retreats are usually the same group of friend. We rent a house that is set up for crafting. We have two house we rent depending on the size of the group.

I had a really nice retreat weekend. I got 35 of 81 blocks done, needed for my new crumb quilt. I am making 4.5 x 10.5'' crumb strips and and adding a pastel fabric to make them 10.5 " blocks.

My friend brought her embroidery machine and made owl blocks that where cut with Accuquilt. They were so cute. I am thinking about taking my embroidery machine to the retreat in June. Val gave me the pattern for a sheep block. She will be there if I need help.

This coming week is pretty open, just a vet appointment on WEDS. I hope to finish up my Nickel Quilt this week.

Have a good evening.

Bev - luckily the yard in OR is small and we planted it specifically with the mindset that we needed low maintenance.

Today DH is talking about a bike ride - I'm looking forward to it. It's been awhile since we went biking and I miss it.

Looking forward to a relaxing day hanging out in the area.

Ginny, I thought I was busy with 2 yards but mine are only 2 hours apart. Yours are on opposite sides of the country. That is a challenge.

My company headed home this morning. It's hard to keep up with exercise when you sew all day, but we did get in daily walks, so that helped. She is also doing low carb, so that helped, too. I finished 5 baby quilts (those made with the crumb blocks) and have 3 more tops to quilt, I'm happy with that. Dan from Nolting tried to call about the stitch regulator but couldn't get past the call blocker. I'll call him back Monday. Thanks to my friend's help I'm actually doing an acceptable job quilting without it. Would never have thought that.

Have another wall hanging sale on Etsy, so will work on that tomorrow.

Good morning quilters

Dinner was great last night. Good food and companionship.

I am still working on my blocks. Need to iron them all and trim them.

Off to the nursery this morning - we tried to go yesterday but it was so crowded we decided to come back. Trying to get there bright and early when it opens.

Have a great day - stay safe and healthy

WG, we have had a wonderful time sewing this week. She has to leave in the morning, but we will plan another get together soon.

We had another successful day sewing today. I got bindings on the 4 quilts I did yesterday, and made another baby quilt today. We got our walks in, but spent most of the day in the sewing room. We have had a wonderful time and I've learned to overcome several challenges.

Hi Quilters. It is beautiful and warm. Maybe even hot today. It is a lovely day to be outside. I've been out once moving the hose but DD is coming soon with her dog to play. Mine is at the door waiting.

Today is super quiet except for that and DGS coming to mow. He has a side job on Saturday so he likes to mow here on Friday. He loves coming to play with the dog and I pay pretty good so it works.

Bev, sounds like your friend came a a perfect time. I hope your new part comes soon. It is hard to not have the machine working.

I'm off to be busy and get things done. I need to run errands today and may stop at the local popcorn shop and get some cotton candy popcorn. If not, I'll do something else. Have a super great day.

Linda, you are right. We will be praying for rain in July and August.

Carol, hope your sewing room tidy has gone well and the wireing replacement is in progress. Safe travels to SD.

Ginny, how wonderful to get your DD's doll house back.

Carrie, love the hexi quilt. Hope you are able to rescue it.

WG, sounds like you had a good Mother's Day.

Meg, good you discovered the oops in the swap blocks before you sent them. Hope your back is better.

Julie, how wonderful to be able to attend so many retreats. Now that I'm retired I need to start looking for some.

Pam, sounds like you are having a wonderful trip.

My friend and I are having a wonderful mini-retreat. The encoder on my long arm broke in the middle of a quilt and she helped me through finishing it without my speed control. I did pretty good if I do say so myself. Oldest grand came over this afternoon and tried to repair it, but it's too fragile, so I'll order another. Oldest grand got his second shot yesterday and was a bit under the weather this morning, but is better this evening. Youngest can get his first shot Tuesday.

Hi Quilters. I'm doing some paperwork and watching the news. I do enjoy hearing what is going on. The kids and I had a fun text this morning as the grands (5 are eligible) were getting scheduled for vaccinations this week. It has been fun as SIL is doing the vaccinations and he enjoys giving them to the grands.

Ginny, how fun to be sharing a meal with neighbors. I'm sure you will enjoy the spicy food your husband fixes. It will be nice to get together and enjoy a visit.

Pam, sounds like a fun week. I'm glad you got to do some fun things and have some nice visits. It is good to take a break.

Meg, it is good that the chiropractor is being cautious and making a good plan of care. Cold reduces inflammation while heat may increase circulation but doesn't reduce swelling as much. It is so much nicer for back pain, though.

Julie, you seem to have everything together for your retreat. It is probably easier for you since you do it so often. it will be nice to have a good weekend sharing with friends and visiting and sewing..

Carol, hope you are having a great time in SD. It is sort of remote, but should be fun to visit.

Off to do things I need to do. The dog has taken a liking to skeins of yarn and finds them even when they are hidden. This one trailed around several pieces of furniture and was in at least 4 pieces. I've still got about 30 minutes of work to get it untangled (probably not worth it) and it will one day become a doll dress. Celadon is a lovely color but not when it is in a tangle. He loves wrestling and unwinding his yarn.

Have a great day.

My travel time is coming to a close. I fly home on Saturday. It has been a very busy trip with visiting everyone and fabric shopping with my SIL. Celebrated Mothers Day and all friends Birthday's. Saw 3 cousins and many friends. Coffee with our Meg.

No sewing but when I get home I will start up again.

Today was less eventful than I hoped it would be. I went to the chiropractor but they didn't do a treatment or anything. They got my medical history and asked a bunch of questions about any past injuries and stuff like that and then took some XRays. I have to go back Friday for the XRay reading and I don't know what else. And I need to stop heating my back, I need to ice it. So we'll see how that goes.

I'm getting through about a block and a half a day for the block swap. So I should be finished with those early next week and will get them in the mail.

It has been a nice day here, cool but partly sunny. I have been sewing and doing laundry which is done now. I finished sewing blocks into rows and started sewing the rows together. I am not taking this with me because I have it laid out on my long arm frame.

I think I have myself packed for the weekend. I just need to cut up my veggies for Gyros and omelets. I will get everything packed in a bag in the fridge so I can just grab it in the morning.

Have a good weekend.

Good morning quilters

Had an early drop off and both of us were still in bed - dash downstairs to pick up the precious cargo and then off to start our day.

DGD is on the move!

Another beautiful day here - we've been getting out as much as we can.

Sewing planned when I can take a breath

Stay safe and healthy

We leave today for South Dakota where it is in the 30's in the am. Dragging out all the warm clothing I can find which isn't much. And usually out of date. But it does warm to the 60's in the day or so it says. Looking forward to the cool weather and the great scenery. Yesterday I ventured to the sewing room and finished a shoulder bag that I found nearly done. I gave up on it because I wasn't enamoured with the pattern but it is now a good size for the trip. Not much sewing going to happen starting next week with the rewire in our home. Carol

Today was nice but a little bit cool. DH spent the morning hanging shelves for books in the workshop. He moved all our fiber related books to the workshop. Once he gets the safes moved in this week end we can put the room back together.

I sewed most of the morning. I finished cutting up my black inch squares, and located some of my stuff for my retreat. This retreat is just three or maybe four of us who have been getting together for weekend retreats. My retreat in June will be a bigger group (12 of us) but the house is much larger. It has 9 bed rooms. All of us attending the retreat have been vaccinated. We will be spread out in the house. Most of us will have our own bedroom.

I sewed more blocks into rows for my Nickel Quilt top. I have 2 more rows, which I will finish tomorrow.

Have a good evening.

Hey all!

The bees are still doing bee stuff. So that's good. I'm going to do a check later this week to see if I have a mated queen or whether I need to add the other one back.

I got all of my blocks for the swap cut over the weekend plus a ton of other pieces cut. I cut down two gallon sized bags of scraps into strips, squares, and bricks. Thankfully last night I did a measure on the first assembled strip for the swap, because I ended up being one block short. I'm so glad that I didn't just start sewing them all or else I'd be doing a swap with myself of 12.5 inch blocks rather than 14. After that oops was fixed, the blocks are going together pretty quickly, though I'm going to have to go get some white fabric tomorrow. I only have enough to finish 4 blocks.

I also got backing fabric ordered for the new grandbaby's quilt. He's arriving in August and his mom is doing his room dragon themed. So I got a yard of dragon fabric from spoonflower and will use that for the back and use those colors to figure out what I'm going to do with the front.

I've also got a chiropractor visit scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. I did something to my back that doesn't seem to be sorting itself out.
