Great quilts for kids Meg! And the backs worked out as well! I have a pattern in Todays Quilter that uses similar blocks but with triangles on the corners and different size plain fabric blocks. I have the fabric I want to try it with. Carol

Berry - I love black sashing around quilts like that. It reminds me of stained glass.

Carol - Love your version of the snowflake quilt too.

I finished up my one a month quilts, two charity quilts that were the same pattern. I was able to use up some yardage for a back on one of them that I've had for 8 years that never really wanted to be anything. I'm glad it found it's home on the back of a kid's quilt.

The backs don't have quilting bumps, I just wasn't very careful when I laid them out on the bed. They're 45x60 each.

Yes I take pictures while I am choosing fabric, then changing them to black and white or mono. You find all kinds of uses for pictures.

Yes, Berry, the black sashing adds a lot. Here is my jelly snowflake. Still will add another 4" of grey with snowflake border. It is grey and has snowflakes all over it and the white has shiny grey dots on it.

Great pic of quilt on bed, @WISAMY !

* * * * * * * * * *
Someone asked to what level of "complete" my quilt tops are for donation!? ~ Answer: finished quilt top + backing fabric. (Others add batting, usually tie together, and bind edges.)

Some locations are asking for "cheery" & bright quilts. The following is for a child:

The quilt top below was a LOT of work. I found a pattern I liked. Reworked it. Started w/ almost 2-yds of fabric w/ LARGE floral rectangles (nothing separated the various floral designs). ~ I'm happy with how it turned out, overall, but I doubt I will do it again due to the challenge of arranging it all into sewable sections! (Tried to explain to DH, who helped me w/ the rework, about the concept of BLOCKS.)

Looks like I will finish out at 51 quilt tops (2 more waiting to be sewn together). -- I have 2 gifts that are moving into the PRIORITY category! ...and next week is December!

Love the quilt Amy! Today I am including a video from Edyta Starr from Laundry Basket Quilts. It is an eye candy of 32 small quilts. She often makes a doll quilt size while auditioning new patterns or using up scraps. How fun this is! And I love hearing her talk. Enjoy. Just 14 min long. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKCd
kNKEy9c&am
p;feature=youtu.be

After you watch that one, here is another on the same book.
Carol www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtO5
golASoI

She shares tips for using scraps that reminded me of my days as an interior decorator. Repeat colors 3 times. Use the rule of 5, large print, medium print, small print, stripe, polka dot. I used this rule of 5 all the time in decor along with repeating things 3 times. And then she uses a light background. I think she had the same ones all through these quilts. such beautiful examples. Enjoy on your Sunday. Carol

This bed is an antique full bed. Antique beds have different measurements. This one I believe is 6 inches narrower than a full bed today. The height is most likely different. The mattress itself is only about 4 inches thick, but the box spring (very sturdy wire that is not covered) sits inside the wooden rails that you see on the side. The legs and casters seem to make this bed a touch higher than todays bed. A nice sized queen quilt would cover those wooden rails.

This is Garden Party. I'm not sure if I changed the pattern (probably borders if I did).

This room has changed since then. We refinished all the floors and removed all wall paper in our house. The room also has a different curtain rod and new curtains. It has been painted marble white with matching curtains. The quilt stands out more since the room has been changed. I love that the room is now very neutral. I can change the look in less than half an hour by changing the lamp and quilt! I have little blue river on the bed now.

Its nice to get nice comments. Amy if you have a pic of Garden Party, please post. I have Bonnie's ADdicted to Scraps book with Garden Party in it. That will be a long time to finish that if ever but I had fun making the blocks I made. Not sure if I will do the alternate block as is but goal is to make 100 of these. Twenty down and had to put it away for a while. Carol

Very cute Carlannie! And fast is good. The blocks I made were actually Bonnie's Hot Cross Buns from Addicted to Scraps. Had to look it up. I discovered these blocks are actually part of Bonnie,s garden party quikt. I would have to make 100 to make the quilt. Only 87 to go. Carol

Carol--BH had a pattern a few years back (2016?) that was called Garden Party. It used that block plus one other block. The pattern was in Quiltmaker. I made the quilt and it is a favorite of mine. Your block looks like it might be larger than the Garden Party one.

Berry - I always like how string quilts turn out but have never had the patience to do one myself. I like your blues quilt too. Definitely leave the turned block, it's in the middle and no one is going to notice unless they really look for it.

Carol - I really like this sampler kick you're on. Between the sewcialite and pink blocks, they're really pretty. I like the Lori Holt pillow too. I'm using some of her fabrics for Grassy Creek. I like how she designs.

Carlianne - Lovely T-Shirt Quilt and the H in the middle really sets it off.

Linda - Cute Table topper. Did you have to use Y seams to make it?

Had it finished last year and bought the pillow. Dragged it out today, quilted it and sewed it together

Carol--that is such a darling pillow! I bet it brightens up the whole room. Keep doing those projects--finishing things gives a sense of accomplishment and boosts the mood.
