Highly entertaining thread! I don't think I'd ever run one, but I think the idea is awesome. I think I would jiggle and rub where it wasn't meant to happen. I'm also a slow runner, so the view probably wouldn't be the best :).

Wowsa! I guess my opinion on this would have to be.. well, I certainly support anyone's right, choice (and guts!) to do that, but I think I'll have to sit that one out. Far out. Over there.. where people's floppy bits are covered...

Aggggh I just don't even want to think about the bib. I think everyone will be much happier if I keep my clothes on. Especially me. I think I will stick to clothing mandatory races. I think I would have a really hard time not falling over in laughing fits as things flip flop by me. emoticon

Ooo I didn't think about where to pin the bib!

I agree with the comment about nudists. It seems those who feel most comfortable walking around nude probably shouldn't be.

LOL great idea Sharon! Judging from some of the firefighters I have seen lately... we might be better off watching a feisty group of personal trainers on a clothing optional relay - now that might be nice!

Sounds like people will "hang out" during the race, too! LOL!!

Carolyn and I participated in a relay this weekend, and I thought it would be funny if a team (NOT ours!) ran it naked! But on second thought, it would be best if that team were made up of male firefighters or something similar!

www.nuderuns.com. (site contains some nudity) has a list of clothing optional races.

I've never done one but have friends who have. They're different. 90% of women will typically wear a bra. Shoes aren't considered clothing and pretty much everybody wears them. generally folks will just leave their keys/wallet/purse or whatever with their clothes. If you're concerned about theft, lock your stuff in your car and tie your key in your shoelace.

These races are on nudist resorts and people will typically hang out afterwards. the vast majority of nudists are not in great physical conidtion (there are occasional exceptions to this rule). If you're slightly faster than average this is a good time to place towards the front of the field but they typically don't have much for age group awards.

I'd kick the tires on one just to see what it was like but none are close by.

If it's a clothing optional race, that means you can wear something to carry your kleenex and keys, like a spibelt, one of those shoe pouches (I don't think I could run a 5k without shoes), or tuck them into your hat. Personally, other than swimming, I don't think naked is a good idea for any sort of sporting activity. And a duathlon? No way I'm riding a bike naked.

As Jerry Seinfeld pointed out: There's good naked and there's bad naked. I think this is bad naked.

During my tri there was a girl who opted to run in her bikini. She looked great standing still! Once she was in motion? Well, I ran faster just to get past......

I thought that it must be the one near where I live in PA, but searched and there are several others listed under Bare Hare... It sells out every year.
Those that come to watch also have to pay a fee.
The location near here also has a duathlon every year.
