I sure hope everyone enjoyed today ... it was/is beautiful! Sad to say I was inside all day at a scrap-booking crop so I'm hoping the rain holds off tomorrow long enough for me to get some gardening in.

It looks like we will have some warmer spring temp all week long ... along with a few showers. I hope everyone tries to get some outside exercise when they can ... breath the fresh air!

I would say get outside and smell the roses, but I don't see any in bloom yet!

I'd love to. My schedule is a little more crazy than I'd like it to be until the 2nd week of May, but anytime after that is good for me.

Did anyone else see the snow this morning??? Some April Fools from Mother Nature!! we made 54 yesterday ... I knew we were in for a few more cool days this week, but the snow was a little more than I bargained for ... I'm sure glad the sun cam out and melted it quickly!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Sunday ...

Sun is shining and it is beautiful outside ... planning to do a little raking this afternoon after the temps settle in the upper 40's. With all the house cleaning (floor washing) of the last 2 days and the raking today I think I'll reach all my cardio limits for the week.

Hopped on the scale last evening (it's been about 10 days) and found I lost another pound. I usually weigh-in when I get up so this is a really good sign.
I'm with you on the weather change ... I plan to use my garden as my biggest exercise program this year. I plan to spend a lot of time there.
We have a garden club plant sale every year in May ... besides the annuals that are brought in from Barner's (and I think we use one other greenhouse), our members donate perennials from their gardens. i'll be able to thin out a lot of things to donate this year!

Good for you for maintaining! From what I read from veteran sparkers, that can be more difficult than losing. I've been maintaining, but I can't brag about that, since right now I'm trying to lose :-) I'm hoping once the warmer weather hits, I'll be outside and moving around more and it will be a little easier to take off the weight. Last winter I put on about 5 lbs, so I'm happy that I'm maintaining this winter. I'm improving, even if I'm not right where I want to be.

emoticon I think I would like either, even though the sugar wouldn't be good for me. I miss the good stuff on my blueberry pancakes ... now I use either lite or sugar free. I've been a type II diabetic for about 15 years ... lost weight in the beginning ... managed to maintain ... now determined to lose the rest.

I have an easy time of getting my exercise in regardless of the weather because I mostly do DVDs. I can't stand for anyone to see me work out (you know those photos on facebook that say "what you think you look like... what your friends think you look like... what you really look like...? Well, I'm realistic enough to know what I really look like, lol!) so as long as I get my lazy rear end out of bed before my husband and kids get up, I'm fine.

This is the first year we're trying this, but from what I've read the prime sap flowing time is when you have temps above freezing during the day, and below freezing at night. So the past few days have been perfect. So far we've gotten around 10 gallons of sap, which will make about a quart of syrup, if we cook it down properly. Otherwise it will be maple candy or maple sugar. One way or another, I'm eating it :-)

I am just the opposite ... I do very well tracking my calories ... but not so good on getting exercise ... at least in the winter. When I was still working everyday, I would walk almost 2 miles . I wore my pedometer and the first half hour I'm there while making deliveries I tracked about 1.5 miles. Our building takes up almost an entire block. The rest of my time it was just normal moving around end of my day I had clocked 2 miles. I only work a 4 hour day! I also made sure I got a couple flights of stairs in every other day. That was not as easy as it sounds. My knee replacements are the best thing I ever did, but stairs are still a problem!

Once the weather breaks I get all the exercise in the world ... I'll spend almost every waking moment in my garden digging, planting, rearranging, building a new planter ... and then rearranging some more. I also put a lot of time into the pond out back. We walk outside more, play golf ... we are just way more active in the nice weather.

How warm does it have to be for the sap to start flowing ... sounds like a fun activity and quite a learning experience for the kids. I hope it works out well.

By tracking all my foods I know where I stand when we go out to supper ... and a little research often lets me know what my options are for supper ... I find that there are usually some fun foods that will fit right into my daily plan!

Great job staying in your ranges when eating out! I always have a very hard time doing that. I don't eat out often, and when I do I want to "treat" myself. Which usually means eating something that puts me way over my ranges for the day.

I'm hoping for warmer temps today. My husband and kids tapped the few maple trees in our yard for the first time, and I'm hoping it gets warm enough to get the sap flowing. I'm eager to try making maple syrup.

I've been doing great with exercise all week, but haven't been tracking my food. I need to get disciplined and start using that tracker again.

Sure hope we see the sun today ... it's in the forecast! I had a surprisingly successful day yesterday. We ate at a new Greek restaurant on West 12th street one block east Peninsula Drive. The Peninsula Grille. Food was really good ... loved the Pastisio (Greek lasagna) and the lemon chicken soup ... managed to stay well within my calorie range for the day.

Hope everyone is surviving the chilly month of March ...

YEAH!!! It's the first day of Spring ... OR IS IT???

We were at the Bayfront convention center and a meeting and lunch in the north hall against the windows ... it was fun to look our at the snow as it traveled across the bay ... the grasses were beautiful ... and most were ice covered ... along with the benches (some looked like they were covered in white blankets with lace edges).

Yen ... I sure hope you are right about spring being her before you know it. A look out the window this morning isn't very convincing!

I know how important tracking can be ... I sometimes have to make the time to log on and track. When we are heading out for supper (which happens a couple times a week) I like to make sure I have tracked everything for the day before we head out ... then I know what sort of leeway I have for supper. I sometimes go to the web site for restaurants to see the nutrition values of items on their menus and make my dinner choice before leaving home. It is amazing how that helps ... most times there are several choices for something that fits right in my day.

I did a good job making sure to get my exercise in today, but that's as far as I got. I had a busy day, and knowing I wasn't going to be home to track my food today made it easy to say yes to more "little bites" of snacks than I care to count. Tomorrow I'll be more diligent with tracking, so I should be better about eating.

I'm also looking forward to springtime and gardening! I purchased some of my seeds this weekend. It'll be here before we know it.

Ok ... let's try this again ... I'm hoping this can be a nice daily chat thread that everyone will use just to keep in touch an tell us how their journey is going ... maybe vent when they have struggles ... or even just to say HI.

I am really trying to smile and enjoy the last of the winter weather ... even though my heart is all ready for SPRING!!! I can't wait to get out in my garden every day!

I haven't lost in a week ... I struggled early with tracking ... went over my calorie limit by about 200 cals two different days ... but now I'm back on track.
