I haven't been doing as good as I planned on this challenge ... ankle injury getting in the way. It seems to be healed now so I'll be trying much harder. I have been putting my pedometer on when taking shopping trips ... parking at the end of the lot and taking the long way (and sometimes extra aisles) to get to where I want. I'm putting about 1 1/2 miles on every time I get out to shop.

I hope the warmer temps gives everyone a little more incentive to get out and walk!

Hi Lynn, Hope you got to get outside for your walk yesterday. Wasn't it nice? I love the Spring weather.
You might need an umbrella today. I've been keeping up with the 2 miles per day and really enjoying it.
Thanks for the great challenge. Hope you have a good weekend. Keep on Sparking!

Today I walked indoors ... it was fun ... and oh so much warmer. I think it is supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow ... if not I'll be back at the Mall!

It sure was cold yesterday to walk outside! I chickened out and used the treadmill at the Y!

Tomorrow I'm definitely doing the concourse at the Mall ... maybe for the rest of the week. Today I walked outside ... IT WAS COLD!!! I could barely move my legs when I got home ... I think everything inside them was frozen!

Hi All.....if you walk each concourse at the mall it is 1.2 miles. We generally try to walk it two times....I think with the new food court it might be more....I am babysitting during the day...but if anyone wants to walk at night...cut your coupon out of AC Moore in Sundays paper....and go mall walking...It is fun...and you can even shop in between...LOL

Hi Joy, Welcome to the 80 Mile Lenten Walk. It's great to have you on board. I found it keeps me accountable to my cardio and has begun to be a re-awakening spiritual experience as well. Hope you enjoy yourself!
Keep me posted. emoticon

Thanks for joining us Joy ... let me know when you go to the Mall ... I need an alternate walk site. It isn't always easy walking outside. I don't have a treadmill so my only choice is the Mall or outdoors. It's been a long time since I was a "Mall Walker" ... is it still 1 mile if you walk the entire hallway?

I enjoyed the warmer temps for my first 2 days of walking ... however, today my walk will be a challenging one. I will have to bundle up, don my hat scarf and gloves and head out.

I'm not sure if God is getting through to me yet ... but my daily time with Him will be a blessing.

This Lenten Walk is different than other challenges for me. I like the focus on the Lord as we walk. To spend an un-interrupted half hour with God is always refreshing and so worthwhile. Thank you. emoticon

For anyone that wants to find out how far they've walked here is a handy online tool to use. www.mapmyrun.com/
I didn't make my 2 miles yesterday, so today I revamped my walk before I headed out and did the full 2 miles. I'm glad I've had a couple of nice days to get back into walking again ... now if the weather is a little colder I should still be able to endure the 2 miles. If not I'll do what I can and then head to the Mall to shop emoticon . I know it won't be much trouble walking around the stores!

Well my first day walk is complete ... I didn't make it quite 2 miles, but I walked for about 75 minutes. Our worship service was at noon today ... I'm not sure if I'll be going at noon or 7:30 each week ... I think they are switching choir practice from Thursday to Wednesday following our lenten services.
Today The fresh air was wonderful ... I'm headed out to a nice low cal supper with friends tonight ... soup, salad, and a naked baked potato.

I live just inside Harborcreek by the Eastside Y. I would love to get together to walk and to get to know you better. Hope you have an inspiring day!

Sue,

Anyone can come on board any time ... I think it will be a great way to celebrate the season of Lent. I don't know how often we can actually walk together ... just let me know when you are available and I'll try to set something up. In the meantime I think my son is on board, so I will have him around for last minute walks in our neighborhood.

Knowing where everyone lives will help me plan something ... I'm out by K-mart West.

Lynn, I hope it's not too late to join in your 80 mile Lenten Walk. I've downloaded the walking calendar so I guess that means I'm on board. These will be exciting miles as we reflect on the meaning behind the season. Good idea!!Thanks!! emoticon

Lynn, I'm going to try to do this with you. It'll have to be on the dreadmill, with my FIL here, but I'll get outside when I can. Hopefully I can stick with it.....

My apologizies to the team for not being around much this year. I've just been totally overwhelmed, and tho' it's looking better, it's still not great, so please bear with me until I can get back. Shelia, thanks so much for the daily challenges. I've been lurking when I have time, but not jumping on to post. You and Lynn keep up the great work!

Would anyone like to join me in an 80 mile lenten walk?
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
80 miles, the distance from our Lord's hometown of Nazareth to Jerusalem, the Holy City, can be completed with a 2-mile walk each of the 40 days of the season of Lent. Two miles can be completed with a measured distance, a brisk 30 minute walk, or around 4,000 steps. You may track and mark your progress using the calendar provided.
www.nwpaelca.org/80daycalendar.pdf
The calendar also includes suggestions for prayer, thought, and healthy living, keeping us mindful of the importance of being healthy leaders for Christ's Church.
For some people, the challenge may be to begin and complete this distance each day. For others, the challenge may be to add 2 miles to a current exercise or walking routine. You may walk or run outdoors, indoors, or on a treadmill. Those choices are yours.

I've also posted this in our Team Goals section of our ErieSparkers Team page.
