Yes it really works! I love it and my family is seeing the benefits as well. I've been getting a lot of spark mail asking me how I reached my goal...so I sent a letter out to my other team...as I was having a hard time keeping up! I've posted the letter below...in hopes that it may help somebody here too!

Remember, how your body looks is 80% nutrition! When people tell me they don't have time to exercise...I tell them they can still lose weight just by changing their eating habits!

Make it a great day!

Good Fabulous Day Everybody!!!!!!

So many people have been writing to me and asking me what I have been doing to reach my goal...and I love that! But here is the challenge, I’m having a hard time keeping up with my spark mail! LOL Don’t get me wrong, I love the mail…but I also don’t want to miss somebody and I don’t like people having to wait. Plus after being highlighted on the spark home page…I really got a lot of spark mail and questions!

You may not even be one of those people…but I thought this might be the easiest way to try and answer all the questions. So if you aren’t one of those people, I apologize and please just send me to the delete can!

I love to share what I have been doing…but to be honest; I have also been hesitant, as part of what I use to supplement my weight loss comes from my business. I want to tell everybody what I’m doing, but then again, I don’t want to sound like I’m just promoting products. Just to be clear…I don’t sell the products, I teach others how to buy them wholesale. It makes sense for me to give up my commission so that others can get the products at the best price. That being said, I want to share with you what I did to reach my goal.

First thing I did was make a commitment! Losing weight and getting healthy is a choice. It’s not an easy thing to do. Especially when you love to eat, like I do! When I was younger I could eat and not gain weight, but that changed about mid thirties! I was still eating as much, but I started putting on the weight. I also just want to say that when I was in college I had an eating disorder…anorexia. So I have had my share of “issues” when it comes to food. I think it was my family reunion in August that really pushed me to make a difference! My Dad’s family is all overweight. I don’t mean a little…I’m talking obesity and all the health issues that comes with it. Diabetes also runs in my family. So it was a wake up call for me! I could continue to keep doing the same things and getting the same results or I could make a change and decide to grow old with my kids and grandkids! That was the catalyst for me!

I’ve lost 20 pounds since I joined spark…most of that coming off since August! I feel great; I feel like I look better, and when you look better, you feel better about yourself.

First let me start by talking about nutrition. When you don’t eat properly and you eat foods that are not good for you that don’t help create energy, your energy levels go down, which works against you because then you can’t burn off the food that you eat. So it’s a vicious cycle that you can get caught in.

And think about this. Sixty percent of the American population is overweight and this is no surprise given our busy lifestyles, convenient, high-fat snacks, fast-food meals, processed meals, and limited time to prepare healthy meals. So you have to make a total change in the way you view food!!!!

You need to be eating fruits, vegetables, lean protein and complex carbohydrates. Cut out the processed foods and the fat laden foods! It does work! I’m living proof! I also decided to supplement with some products to help make sure I was getting the added benefits they provide. But let me tell you this…there isn’t a pill, there isn’t a tablet, there isn’t a drink. There isn’t one thing that is going to fix it for you. You have to focus, you have to eat healthy and you have to eat less and exercise more!

I will also be perfectly honest and tell you my exercise “routine” has been hit or miss the last several months. I am getting back on track with that as of yesterday…thanks to Zumba and my weights! I always did try to get some exercise in…but it may just have been 15 minutes here and 15 minutes there…which they have shown is just as effective.

As most of you know I started clean eating back in September and it made a huge difference. If you have not already read The Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno, I highly recommend it. You eat healthy food, and you eat smaller meals. A typical day for me looks like this:

2 glasses of water when I get up, before I eat anything
Breakfast: crockpot oatmeal (steel cut oats, apples, cranberries, walnuts) black coffee, water
Mid morning snack: Protein/fiber shake, water, detox tea
Lunch: Whole wheat wrap with tuna, mixed greens, raw veggies, detox tea, water
Afternoon snack: apple and almonds
Dinner: Chicken breast, brown rice, steamed veggies, detox tea, water
9:30 snack: Blueberries sprinkled with Kashi Go Lean Crunch and unsweetened almond milk

I don’t crave anything any more…I don’t crave sweets or salts. My body is getting the nutrients it needs!

I use the protein and fiber shakes to make sure I reach my daily requirement. Plus I love them! The protein shake is high in vegetable protein (yellow pea protein) and they provide 18 grams of protein which helps you to keep feeling full. The fiber shake provides 12 grams of fiber …which everybody needs for many reasons. 12 grams is only half of your daily requirement. The recommendation is actually 14 grams of fiber for every 1000 calories you consume. I drink one fiber shake as I am eating a good amount of other foods which provide fiber: whole fruits, brown rice and whole grains, raw veggies.

What I love about these supplemental products is that they are low in carbs and fat. There is no saturated fat or cholesterol. No artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors and no animal products or by-products. They are certified vegan and certified kosher.

So if you are looking for protein or fiber shakes…do your homework! I only drink one shake per day. Others will use two a day using the second one to replace another meal.
I drink our detox tea to help rid my body of toxins. It helps to improve how my body utilizes the food that I am feeding it.

Remember when most people start a weight loss program; they will start eating less and exercising more…which can create an extreme drain on energy levels. I know that was the case for me! Now I only feel that energy drain once or twice a day…and now I have something to help me with that. We now have a natural energy drink that will counteract the energy slump. Not only is it an energy drink, but it is effective for weight loss due to the natural ingredients that are used. My son loves this…it is half the cost of the energy drink he has been buying! LOL

I will be incorporating it into my program…drinking two per day. One in the morning and one in the mid afternoon…both times where I feel an energy slump.

So that is it…that is what I have been doing and will continue to do. I’ll be 44 in May and I have never felt better in my life. Now I just want to continue encouraging others to get healthier!!!! We can make a difference…just by sharing our stories! I hope this may help you in some way. If you do have any questions…let me know. I think I may have been able to get caught up with the spark mail with this letter!

Just remember…you decide! Don’t let others tell you what you can or should do. Do your homework…the information is out there! Ask questions! And remember…attitude has a LOT to do with it!

I just taught a health class the other night and before I even started one woman said to me, “I can’t lose weight. Nothing works. I’ve tried it all.” Do you think she will ever lose weight? NO! She has already made up her mind! I wasn’t going to try and convince her…because somebody would have to keep convincing her! You have to make the decision!

It’s your life and your health…and it IS YOUR CHOICE!

Make it a great day!
Lisa

I'm sure this works. My son was heavy all the way thru school. He changed his diet, eating zero trans fats and eating as much organic as possible. He looks great. He's probably lost 40lbs over the last 8 months without even trying. When he wants pizza, he'll go to Papa Joes and get pizza on wheat crust with spinach and feta. Never did I think he would eat like this, he was always a junk food junkie, but something clicked inside him one day, and he feels great.

I've been with spark since last February and in September I adopted clean eating principles...and it got me over my plateau and push me past my original goal! I thought I would post information here that comes from an interview with Tosca Reno, author of "The Eat Clean Diet". Hope you find this helpful! You can find the full article in the February Issue of Oxygen Magazine!

Q Is clean eating balanced?
A Clean eating is the only way to eat; the only way to be healthy, energy-filled and flab-free. It ismost definitely a balanced diet. I lost 70 pounds by eating cleans, and I never feel hungry. Clean eating is super healthy.

Q What are the principles of clean eating?
A With clean eating you are probably eating more than you are currently eating. But you eat the right foods, and you eat six times a day.

Q What else?
A The foods you eat are chosen for their goodness, not their taste. Where man has manufactured food to have a different texture or taste with chemicals, colorings, preservatives, sweeteners, etc., you have created problems for the body. It's not the calories that create 400-pound bodies, it's the chemicals, the garbage that goes into manufactured foods.

Q You think that the current available foods are bad for us health wise and for our appearance?
A No question. The worst kinds of foods are available to the public. How many millions of heart attacks and strokes do you think trans fats cause? We have been niether served nor protected by the governing bodies.

Q So how do we shop? Isn't clean eating expensive?
A There are whole sections of the grocery store that I never go to. You know where the whole aisle smells like sugar and candy. Start with your fruits and veggies, berries of all kinds, spinach, asparagus, green beans, radishes, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, peppers, etc. Then I go for skim milk, muesli, almonds, chicken breasts, fish, salmon, bison, eggs, whole grains breads, cereals and so on.

Q You say clean eating involves six meals a day. How can a normal working person pull this off?
A You pack a cooler for the day. And you eat every two-and-a-half to three hours. It's no big deal once you get into the habit.

Q What goes into the cooler?
A Lots of water(flat not seltzer), apples, carrots, mixed salads, tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, lemon wedges, raw almonds, boiled eggs, water-packed tuna, several chicken breasts, whole grain wraps...

Q How does clean eating work in a family environment with children and spouses who show no interest?
A It's never too late to at least try to convert the unconverted, especially children. The will thank you later in life.

Q How does the six meals formula work?
A Actually, breakfast is your biggest meal. Typically I will start with hot otameal and berries, followed by a five egg while omelette with chopped veggies, a slice of whole grain toast (no butter) and a black offee or tea without sugar, milk or sweetener (chemicals -ugh!). The next four meals should come from your cooler. And the evening meal with the family may include a hot entree with poultry, bison or fish and steamed veggies. If dessert is required, keep ti to fresh fruit and no ice cream!
