My biggest mistake over the weekend was giving in to a chocolate creme filled snack cake on Saturday night. emoticon Back on track on Sunday!

July is already half over and the heat is rolling in and so are thunder clouds. We did get rained out last Monday for our golf tournament. Tomorrow looks much the same.

Great job JULMATT! I am retired but stay busy. Today we have been freezing corn. We did 5 dozen ears today and will do more tomorrow. Have to put it in the freezer before it gets too hard. Will also play in ladies 9 hole golf tournament today at 6:00 Pm if the storms don't roll in and postpone it as they sometimes do. We ARE needing some rain! Hope all have a great week!

I self-publish Adult Paranormal Romance, and the only part I outsource is the cover work, which I also do sometimes, depending on how much extra money I have to put into the project. It's more of a hobby than done for profit. Not saying the extra bit it brings in don't help, because it does.

This week is workouts, doctor appointments, and some writing. Usual stuff, but I have more energy to complete them, which makes me less grumpy when I get it all done.

How was everyone's weekend? I had a great day Saturday, other than forgetting to log into Spark People and ruining my goal of perfect attendance! I'm sad (a little) but I am simply going to jump back in! Doing better on taking my medication too.

For us this week it's shuttling one child to his activities and work. What's up for YOU?

emoticon Julia, Thank you for joining our discussion. Spark has tons of info for those needing to keep track of carbs and sugar. I have a friend with diabetes and have learned from being around her doesn't mean you can eat the "sugar free" foods because many have too many carbs and I think tracking your food using the free food tracker on SP will help you plus , as you mentioned, the exercise. There are many videos here on SP that are really good for getting you started. If I can help with questions about getting around the site please feel free to contact me. Have been on SP since 2011 because my dear doctor recommended it when my cholesterol and sugar were borderline. Within 6 months of tracking and exercising I had the problems well under control and within a year they were according to the doctor as perfect as he could ask for. emoticon

I'm Julia, only been on Sparks for one full week, but am already finding it helpful. Have to admit I'm still working on figuring out just how to locate and work some aspects of the website, but I'll get it.

I have no children, besides my mom's dogs. (Okay, don't tell her they are more mine than hers.) I'm a diabetic, have been since 1999. Unfortunately is it harder to control because of my resistances to insulin. About a month ago I was given some news of a possible issue with my liver, and it spooked me enough that I decided it was time to adjust my thinking about eating and weight loss. Not that I hadn't been trying and eating right before, but it hadn't been enough. I was looking at it the wrong way, eating and exercising wasn't viewed as part of my life, it was an extra items done in spare time. My realization of that sparked me into action.

I'm looking forward to all this program has to help.

Good morning everyone! Golfgma has asked me to join her in helping our team get some sparks flying! I know I am bad about lurking too. How about all you lurkers take a step forward and re-introduce yourselves?

I'm Carolyn, a married working mom with two teenage boys and a husband. I turned 50 late last year, and have fought my weight all my life. I am a type two diabetic in desparate need of more control of my disease. My July strategy is simply to be active on the site: log in EVERY day, post in my active teams (hint, hint), and record what I do, whether it's good for me or bad. I am simply trying to be present, and hoping that it will evolve into better habits. Oh, and I've lived in W-S for the past 25 years.

How about you? Surely there are at least 25 lurkers out there who can at least say hello?!
