HCG is a human hormone that is in its greatest abundance during pregnancy. First of all, you are dealing with either a true or most likely a synthetic hormone and a 500 calorie diet. There have not been adequate studies showing the efficacy or safety of taking in this substance, in fact, it is in process of the FDA banning its use.

Any time you start taking a pill for weight loss, nothing good can come of it.

In addition to the damage to your body with 500 calories and whatever is in the pill, think about what you are telling yourself subconsciously:

"You can't even be a human, you aren't good enough to eat real food."
"You can't enjoy food, you can't eat what you want, you are only good if you make the choices this box says."
"If you gain weight again (and you will, we know this), you aren't good enough to make your own decisions. You have to have someone regiment and tell you."

So they are losing weight? Are they really happy? Or are they just excited that they lost weight? Because my guess is behind that weight loss is a beautiful and damaged individual who cannot even trust herself and her humanness. That's what does the most damage - the mental games we play, unknowingly sometimes, on each other when trying to get healthier.

(PS: I'm speaking from experience as I still wrestle with this and I've never "dieted".)

I agree with you completely. There is no way 500 calories a day could ever be healthy. And why are they taking HCG? Heck, if you only eat 500 calories a day you're going to lose weight without it! Slow and steady and lifestyle change is still the only safe way to lose weight. Mine is also coming off slowly, but that's okay. In the end, it will be better.
emoticon for you!

I have alot of friends that are taking HCG for weight loss. Their calorie count is only 500 per day. I keep telling them this is unhealthy. But they keep shedding the pounds. They are following a 500 calorie diet, not exercising, but are losing weight like mad. I tell them that this is only a short-term fix, because when they go off of it they will return to their high-calorie diets and continue not exercising.

I hate that my weight loss is slow and I do mean slow, but I'm making a lifestyle change and actually feel good when I exercise. And mine is long-term. My goal is to loss the weight, but mostly to get healthy and stay that way. Hopefully off blood pressure meds and less asthma meds.

What do you think about the HCG diet?
