Regina, I am in MacCarthur Park, probably about a mile from you. I work and work-out at the YMCA. We could meet there to walk Bond Park any time you want or on sidewalks at 6 AM. I usually don't get up until 7 but could see myself walking early 1-2 times a week if you want to set a day or two to try it. My name is Liz and I am 58 but in pretty good shape. I am capable of jogging or walking distances. On the other hand, I have relatively short legs so my stride is not long. My favorite walk at the Y is a power walk of about 4 miles.

Hi everyone,

I am new to this team and really new to being serious about toning and loosing the weight. I am at Chatham and Cary Pkwy.

Anyone want to walk in the mornings are aound 6:00?

Don't forget the Tobacco trail too! It's great for biking, running, or walking on! I'm not exactly sure where to pick it up - there are different places throughout the area, and each part of the trail is a different distance. I'm sure it can be googled though. Just watch out for the horses - they have the right of way!
Umstead park has some good trails too, although I haven't been on them, I really want to. I think the next time I go home I'll try it out (I'm at college right now)

We have lots of great parks and trails in this area. You can take your dogs on them too. Bond Park and Apex Park are two that are close by. I have found that walking alot has been one of the keys to my weightloss. I am a member and employee at the Y and I do classes there as well as walk on the track and do some weight-training. Liz

Hi! I am new to this site. I would love to keep motiviated in Cary! I am near the YMCA too and it makes me feel more inspired to know that you have come this far and in my area. I have two dogs and have been trying to run/walk with them at night in the area. This area seems to activity oriented that I feel guilty when I am in the car and see runners and bikers all around. Any great ideas to keep motived in the neighborhood? emoticon

I am new to spark. I was on babyfit while I was preggo and have switched over to lose some of that baby weight. It's encouraging to see someone who has lost weight with this program. I did weight watcher's before I got pregnant and lost 15 lbs. Now I will try this free program. Hopefully I do as well. Hope this team does come alive

Thanks. We are going to the beach for a week starting Saturday. I fully expect to feel really good in my bathing suit and all my clothes. Maybe that WILL help me with my motivation. emoticon

I have been away on vacation for the last week and I thought it would be hard to get motivated again. But since I lost the 8 pounds all my clothes fit better and I loved the way I was looking. So, I think that sometimes going away on a break really shows you that all the effort does pay off. Maybe set a goal for a weekend away and find some new clothes - there are some great sales now, and show yourself that improvement.

I just found this team. I live in Cary near the YMCA. I have lost quite a bit of weight and am nearing my goal, but have been feeling a little unmotivated lately. How do you all stay on track?

I think the goal of the message boards is just to keep you connected and focused on your goals. I find when I have no reason to log into the site, I do not do as well with my food diary. But if I get an email, that shows there is a post, it reminds me to keep counting.

I am a newbie. Looks like all the Cary folks have dropped out. Maybe they are all slim and beautiful now.

I have a way to go. I am trying to increase my exercise, without injuring myself (a past bad habit).
