We only have one drive in around us, but it is hot dogs, chili dogs, fries, & root beer. Not the type of place I try to eat at anymore.
I'm not so sure about a fried pickle, sounds a little strange to me. But I haven't tried them so I don't know.

My goodness..what are you all thinking??? FRIED foods..yikes.. Actually my son just had his first fried pickle in Memphis a few weeks ago..he loved it! I've never had one..I like mine cold and crispy thanks! And my green beans fresh from the garden too!

Speaking of Dives and Drive In's..we watch that by the way..love it! We have a Maid Rite.. went today..didn't pay for a thing..AWFUL..I've never done that before! I ordered hot beef..one of my treats once in a blue moon..the gravy must have been frozen as it was in little curds..I asked for no bread and they came back and asked if I wanted more potatoes..NO..duh.. the mashed potatoes were so salty..they were awful! And they were runny! The beef was tasteless and cold under the hot sloppy taters and lumpy gravy..so I guess there is NO good place near me to eat..OK..take it back..a dive in a nearby larger town, mexican food..REAL mexican food..we go there every chance we can when we're in town..

Gosh I sound pretty crabby..ha!! emoticon

Fried green beans? Nope, haven't had those. Although, I bought a nice bag of fresh cut green beans today from a local farmer's market. They were yummy!

OY! I LOVE Paula Deen and Rachel Ray; I love watching the food network too and great ideas come up from it.
While I would not make most of what Paula preps, I love seeing her enjoy her food prep and finish; she is just a very charismatic personality, as is Rachel Ray, who also is just very bright and upbeat.

I find it hard to understand why there would even be a site about hating Rachel Ray, but there ya go. Their fifteen minutes of fame, I reckon. :)
Have a great day.

Yep, never heard of the fried pickle til last night. The owner said he soaked the pickles in buttermilk and then put them in a batter and threw them in the oil and they came out looking light and crunchy. One of the customers said that he doesn't like pickles, but once he tasted the fried pickles, that's all he eats.

I love the Food Network - I don't know what it is about liking to see other people cook. The foods they prepare are always fresh and brightly colored. I don't see me eating a lot of what I see prepared, it just looks fun!

I especially like Paula Deen and Rachel Ray and the Unwrapped shows.

Summer's just around the corner. Last night I was watching the Food Network, one of my favorite channels! The one program about Drive-In's prompted me to ask if you have a Drive-In where you live and what its speciality may be! I saw this one located in Charlotte, NC called Penguin's and their speciality is fried pickles.

If you don't have a Drive-In, name a favorite restaurant that makes those old time favorites!

Who have you encouraged today?
