I love love love exercise dvds. Sparkpeople has some, or you can find some cheap ones maybe at DI, or even Amazon.com. I also try to make it to the gym when I can. I find that walking is easier on my lungs/health in the wintertime than running, maybe try going for longer walks? Or you can do pushups/situps/crunches/jumping jacks in circuits in your living room. Maybe do like 50 jacks, 10 pushups, 20 crunches, and repeat a few times? That'll get your blood pumping!

Good luck! :)

I lost 78 pounds with SparkPeople and I've gained most of it back because I didn't make a PERMANENT lifestyle change; I'm back because I know the support here is an essential component to success. I'm practicing the EAT TO LIVE lifestyle and feeling healthier and happier every single day.

I am using my Wii Fit to get a lot of my exercise done. I also am using the Spark strength training videos and I have a Walk Away The Pounds DVD (that one, wow!).

I can't wait till it gets nice again to get outside.

I've thought about trying to go walk at the University Mall, but with kids to get to school and then work myself, I'm not sure that's viable for me.

I'm actually doing more strength training in the winter and you can get some video's right here on the spark. It's easy, it's free, and I seem to like it, maybe you will too emoticon

Plus you got to remember in the long run..muscle burns more overall then just cardio day after day. So if you want something in the long run maybe more strength is right.

Since I hate the cold so much during the winter I go walk around the mall. Its nice and warm inside the only down side is you can't run.

I agree with MEOVA1 about the shows on tv. If you don't have cable, like me, there are a bunch of sites that give you strength training ideas. As for cardio, if you can't find stuff online you can check ebay or DI for cheap ones. There is also doing your steps and jumping rope. Off the top of my head that's all I got. Hope it helps.

Have you tried just doing the workout shows on tv or workout videos? I've found that they have a huge amount of variation for people will little or no equipment. :)

Hi all, new to spark and overweight in Provo. When I run during the colder months I feel like I get sick too easily (and it's tough to run in the snow). I let my gym membership lapse because I am poor and hated their way of "doing business." Anyway, any cheap or free alternatives to running and working out outside in the cold? Thanks!
