That is sad, and I know how you feel. In a situation like that, I might have taken the kitten, but tried to find him/her a home. There are just some people....Yeah. You get the idea.

Mine are holy terrors, and I enjoy every minute they are in my life. (Not sure my BF agrees, though. He loves them, but from a distance. LOL!)

BIttercat, if yours are like mine they are pure entertainment. And I would not have it any other way. I did think about getting a kitten the other day and now kind of beat myself up for not taking it. I know the others would not be happy and not sure how we could have ever made all accept it. But my ex and his girlfriend found it and took it and then did not like cleaning the little box. So they wanted to get rid of it. Cute little thing. But before they could find it a home it wandered to the neighbors and their dogs killed it. Bothers me to think of that. What a waste of a beautiful kitten and the fact that for them it is just ok as the problem is now fixed. Stupid people!! I wish they had never told me! Oh well enough before I get too depressed over the little kitty. Off to do more Sparking, then garbage and off to work! Have a great Day!!!

3Houstons, you sound like me! "I will never have this many cats again...but I love them and they are mine." I have uttered those very words myself!

My BF and I currently have 8. 7 of them are mine. At our peak we had 11. When my ex died, though, I gave his cat to his sister. Since then, I have lost a couple, one to old age and one to cancer (or the medications we were using to try and help her, or the other health problems she had--it's hard to say.) My most comfortable number of cats was 4 or 5, but I love them, and we are bonded, so they all get to stay.

Ours are all rescues, too. (Really, the one bought at the flea market was a rescue. Who knows what kind of a life he/she would have had otherwise?)

Today I have 12 cats, 2 dogs and a ferret. Both dogs were bought and so was the ferret. The cats, first one was bought at the flea market for $5.00 the day before my mother passed away. We lived with her and helped take care of her (my two boys and myself) and since she was elderly would not allow a pet in the house. She was dying and we had Hospice involved and I knew she would never get up from her bed again so when my oldest called asking if he could get this kitty I said "No". Then he says, Mommy, he is $5.00 and that is just what I have! By this time I knew that this might just help us get over my mothers death, especially for the boys so I said YES! That was the start. Then it was taking in a poor little kitty that had been abandoned with her siblings and had been half starved and was tick and flea ridden. Then what follows is a depression on my part that did not get the cats fixed and four kittens later, we were happy. Then a friend requested that I take in another stray just for a couple of days till they could get her to Mississippi. She was pregnant and hurt but they had her checked out at the vets and she was disease free AND LOVING!! And so small in size but so pregnant she could not even get comfortable nor could you carry her very well. Why would anyone think they could take this little kitty on an 8 to 12 hour car ride and her this pregnant? I kept her and with my friends help we would get homes for all kitties. Yeah right! They got here, all seven of them and of course I fell in love and NO ONE can take as good care of them as me so kept them all!! When old enough took all 14 cats at the time to a vet to be fixed all in one day. Then my friend got a house where she could have cats and asked for little kitty that was pregnant back and I let her go cause she never was happy around all the other cats. Down to 13. Then TLC got sick and died in my arms on the way to the vets. Still makes my sad to think of it since he was the first kitty and probably was poisoned some how. Could have been some other disease but since all other kitties are fine they do not think it was that. So now, just have the 12 and boy do they make this house a fun place to be! The cats and dogs get along, some better than others but the ferret is a little feral and attacks the cats and the Rat Terrier wants to eat it. I do not think I will ever have this many cats again as it is hard to keep up with them but for right now they are mine and I love each and everyone of them.

9 cats that my family claims as pets and that either stay in the house or are allowed in and out (Princess, Crazy, Malt, Cuteness, Neung, Saawng, Mango, Temperance, and Patience AKA Alien)
We also always have a varying number of strays that we feed (We live in the country and frequently have cats dropped off on us - we try to find them homes but we can't stand to see anything go hungry)

Two cats adopted from the shelter in May, 2011, as "Desperate House Cats". They are both about 2 years old.
One is a black and white Norwegian Forest Cat named Justin and the other is a black cat named Captain Morgan. They are indoor cats.
Justin is shy and sweet and Captain is into everything, but loveable!

Hello everyone!

I have one cat. Her name is Lucy. I adopted her from the local animal shelter after my first cat Lister disappeared.

Lucy is an awesome cat! She is sweet and cute and adorable!!! She likes to chase after ear plugs and bobby pins. :)

We have four rescue kitties. Cooper (10) and Sassy (9) were adopted from the Feral Cat Rescue; Ivan (around 3) was from the local shelter - his info sheet stated 'unwanted'; and Christian was just going to be dumped on Christmas Eve by a couple of women who couldn't sell him to a pet shop. My hubby brought him home, and he's number four. Christian is around 3 or so. They are all indoor cats, get along most of the time, and let us live here to feed and love them.

We had 2 up until last Christmas last year, which I paid a pet deposit of 600.00. My son (19) wanted a Prairie Maine Coon for Christmas so I got her for him. We are being very discreet so they don't find out. We would most likely move before giving her up. She is part of our family now.

We have 41 cats and 1 rabbit. Their names are: Boots, Cuddles, Kelsey, Snuggles, Lacey, Finch, Goldie, Gracie, Sarge, Jessica, Chevy, Quincy, Seven, S.J., Spencer, Oliver, Sophie, Kayla, Kira, Lily, Peanut, Maumbo, Molly, Jefferson, Summer, Lady (AKA Butterball), Ascot (AKA Biscotti), Daphne, Whiskers, Magic, Noah, Lynx, Rocky, Jersey, Baby Cat, Tommy, Morgan (he's my profile pic), Petunia (she's the rabbit), Lily, Monica, Brandy and Maggie. They are all rescue cats that were either sick, injured or abused. I used to have 75 cats until a devastating house fire 5 years ago claimed the life of half the cats. That's something you never quite get over. You just learn to accept it and move on. We love each and every one of the cats as if they were the only one we had. We have just applied for status as a non-profit organization. We're just waiting for the paper work from the government. I will try to post pictures of more of my cats over time.

I now have one cat named Thor. He's a special needs cat as he is a brittle diabetic. He is insulin dependent. I am hoping he'll get better once he loses some weight. He just turned 7 years old in Sept. He weighs 24.75 pounds. I must get him down from 3/4 cup of food to 1/2 the vet said. We're working on it starting today since he was just at the vets last night. He is on s special food for diabetics.

I have five. Squishy, Frito, Oscar, Annie and Lily. The three boys I got as kittens and the two girls I rescued as strays. I had only planned on having three cats but when there are strays who need homes, what do you do? Especially when one is looking in your patio door when it's 30 below zero outside!

Hi all
I have not been able to bring myself on to this site for a long time. Last spring I had three cats but now I only have one. I lost my BUSTER cat to debates (sp). That broke my heart, but what really devastated me was Tonto. He died of heart failure. We had him in for a checkup, and the vet said he had a very irregular heart beat. She put him on some meds but he died a week later. So I lost both boys within a couple of month of each other. It has been hard to come back on, and the tears are still flowing. Webbie my 23lb Coon cat has become very affectionate. He is missing them as much as we do, and I swear he is trying to do all the things they use to do. He now sleep on the bed where Tonto use to sleep, and tries to sit in my lap, or around my neck like Buster always did before he became so ill. Well when i feel up to it, I'll jump back on, but for now I'm just being a downer, so good-day, and a brighter tomorrow.

5 - Sunny is the oldest at 13 (an orange/cream manx who is diabetic, on insulin, and prefers to pee all over the carpet instead of using his new SmartBox-grrrr), 4 year old handsome tuxedo brothers Bamf and Pierre, 3 year old Beans who is a grey tabby and quite the little hellion, and our new addition, Scotch, an orange tabby who was a stray and we think is between 6 mos and 1 year. Trying to get them used to the new kitty, but everyone is a bit on edge, except for Sunny who could care less.

5 cats here: one ragdoll, two longhaired American curls (one silver, one brown tabby), and two black and white brother and sister shorthairs.

Far too many. Anyone want a couple??? :)

Working on healthy: Nutritious, sustainable, day to day, low carb-ish living. AND getting out and about and exercising... Yep, better do that!
